Help with a Through-Axle question
« on: February 08, 2018, 03:13:56 PM »
Hey all, i am just starting to build up my new CarbonSpeed cs-156 frame, and have run into a glitch, wondering how others have approached it. This is my first bike with a rear through axle, and I thought it would be a breeze (foreshadowing). So, the drops are not threaded, and and there appears to be a slot where you would put a threaded nut of some sort, and there is a small.hex bolt that would lock it in place. I have no idea where to get this nut or why it didn't come with a dropout. I assume it has something to do with the ability to go with different thread patterns. See pics for details, and any help is appreciated. Also, some shots of the frame... it says "Made in china" in chinese down the front of the down tube. I will pair it with a Fox 32 SC with custom stickers of the same blue and grey, and xtr wheels.

Here is a nut you can use: https://r2-bike.com/SHIFT-UP-Nut-M12-for-Shimano-E-Thru-Thru-Axle-12-x-142-mm
It will work with any axle that has a 12 x 1.5mm thread.
Such as this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/272752768990

Or you can go with the DT Swiss axle + nut: https://r2-bike.com/DT-SWISS-Thru-Axle-RW-RWS-12x142-mm-E-Thru

I just bought a frame from carbonspeed and had to choose axle while ordering. I was surprised with the setup myself. First Chinese frame for me and thought the dropout would of been threaded. They come with a nut that is locked in place with the little grub screw. It is a pain as it isn’t quick release.
