Chinese Carbon MTB > 26er & 27.5 (650b)

Bike suggestions

(1/2) > >>

Flyyy:
I’m looking for a bike for my wife.  She wants to join me and my son on our rides, but isn’t interested in jumping or going fast.  My biggest concern is that I need to get handlebars a bit higher in the air so that she doesn’t have to lean over too much.  She has back issues and the typical mtb position doesn’t suit her, and a smooth ride is important for that same reason. Right now, I’m leaning towards the following specs:

27.5” full suspension frame
About 100mm of travel
About 68 degree head angle

Alternatively, I’d Consider a Hardtail
27.5 or 29”
Wide tires for increased comfort

Which current frames do you all recommend?  Any thoughts on full suspension vs hardtail(with wide tires)?

The only thing she’s asked for is that it be this mint color: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32950921983.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.463e4bb8s5uPdj&algo_pvid=2f537a5b-b0cc-43a6-b356-334e0bf15162&algo_expid=2f537a5b-b0cc-43a6-b356-334e0bf15162-8&btsid=908a9daa-e866-4c57-8127-b49422a88518&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0%2Csearchweb201602_4%2Csearchweb201603_52

Flyyy, I think this is what you are looking for. I can not comment on quality nor integrity of this seller as I have no experience with either frame nor seller but it has 68 degree HA and it also has a very short TT  / reach by modern standards. This should make it easier to keep your steerer tube longer and handlebars higher.  The seller in my first post is the cheapest I have found this frame.  If you decide on this frame then might I suggest you enquire with the seller what the difference between the 27.5+ and 29er frames is as the geo chart only has one set of data.

Thread I started on this frame a few weeks back.  http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,2621.0.html

Hope that helps.

I’ve been eyeing a very similar frame (maybe the same) by TanTan.

Im also concerned about that short reach, but what you say about that aiding her to sit upright makes sense.  She would need the 19” frame based on her inseam measurement.  (33”).

This frame seems similar but has a more traditional reach and 29” tires.

emu26:
Three very different frames which is good because it gives you options.

Flyyy:
I think this is a review of that frame.  Looks like it’s a fairly old design.  There’s also a picture with him on it that shows how “stubby” the frame is.
