IIRC, no. The shock tunnel is too tight. Some piggyback shocks may also not fit if they are typical length (though sideways piggybacks like the DVO Topaz Gen 3 should fit fine).

Yeah doesn’t seem like anyone has tested it. Maybe I should get that topaz I’ve been eye balling

Do we have a list of compatible shocks compiled?

Do I seriously need to disassemble this frame back to the two triangles to install a shock? Am I an idiot? What in the ever loving fuck is going on here? The frame was already a nightmare to put together to begin with...

just undo the bottom pivot bolts and move the rear triangle up to access the rear shock bolt

I was thinking that's what I had to do, kind of absurd though because that part of the frame was a serious pain in the ass to get together as the tolerances are not good (and the bolts are somewhat hard to reach on their own). It took me like 20 minutes to get everything lined up there in the first place. Wish I'd just fired the shock in then. Never had a frame where it was that much of a pain to remove a shock - and ive probably pulled a couple hundred shocks off bikes over the last decade or so.

Can any one of the AM831 owners confirm the shock mount sizes for the frame? I came across different information online 30x8F-22x8Rear and vice versa. So is the 30x8 needed front (frame) or rear (lower link)?

Also I have a Rockshox shock laying around but it's bearing mount designed for SC Hightower. Would it be possible to use on this frame?

TIA.

I used the Fox m8x22.86 with crush washer for the rear and Rockshox m8x30 for the front.

The bearing mount from the SC Hightower/Bronson will not fit. I looked at having the lower link milled to allow the bearing mount to fit. I didn’t feel comfortable with the remaining aluminum having the structural integrity to handle much abuse. I chose to change the damper body in that shock to the standard eyelet version and it has worked well.

It seems like a really cool frame but not quite ready for prime time. I don't like the fact that the rear triangle is flexy and you got to order it special and I don't like the idea you can't use a coil or a lot piggyback shocks because they don't fit. Just right there, I'm bothered

You only had to order it separately if you were in on the first group buy which was the first lot of frames that were manufactured and got into the hands of the public. Frames ordered now come with the revised rear triangle.  That doesn't change the other issues you mentioned nor does it excuse the poor customer service that left the beta testers having to buy a replacement rear triangle in the first place.

Thats a huge bummer for the early buyers. I never go into buying one of these frames thinking this will be a great experience. Rarely do these companies know what customer service is. The crazy thing is these frames aren't that good of a deal anymore. On Ebay this frame starts at $1400. On AliExpress they're $800+ with $300 shipping.
For that amount l can start looking for name brand
