Thoughts on Light Bicycles' new Pace-hub?
« on: November 19, 2024, 08:26:58 AM »
Light Bicycle is running a Black Friday sale in a few days, including 20% off on wheelsets with their new Pace-hub, as well as with DT Swiss 350 hubs.

I've been considering a wheelset from LB for a long time, and the discounted price with the Pace-hub looks very good. However, I'm sceptical about buying hubs that were apparently only launched a week ago, with no independent reviews or experiences to help evaluate them. Here's the info they've published on the new hubs: https://www.lightbicycle.com/newsletter/introducing-the-pace-hub.html

Given LBs largely favorable reputation for build quality and customer service, should I just asume that these will be solid, durable and well supported? I could also go for the DT Swiss 350, but that would add around 160 USD total, including tax and delivery to where I live (outside EU and US).

From my understanding, until now, their only 'home grown' hub was the Speed hub, specifically made for carbon-spoked flyweight wheels. Do anyone have experiences with these?

You can ask them if it's compatible with dt swiss internals. Beyond that, there really isn't much in it. It's incredibly difficult to mess up the shell design these days, the bearings are standard and I'd say lb are trustworthy enough to not mess up tolerances.

They look very close to Goldix hubs, but I can not find a Goldix hub that's the same...
