What makes me suspect of videos talking about helmet safety, is that most videos are sponsored by the helmet companies themselves. That's like asking Specialized to make a video about the SL8 compared to a Taiwan Eisen SL8 copy. Of course the big big industry is going to say you'll die the moment you breath on it. On top of that, no bike helmet will protect you from a car going 60mph/100kmh head on.

I always tell people when on a bike don't follow the rules of the road, follow the rules of survival.

I have Sunrimoon helmet since 2022. The one which looks like HJC. It's comfortable and well made and it fits my head better than western brands. Still looking good in that rainbow chameleon color. I'm thinking about upgrading it to the next Sunrimoon helmet with 3D printing padding.

I've been running chinese helmets for years, because branded helmets are simply insultingly expensive. There's no good reason why a piece of moulded foam should cost 300 eur. Just like there's no reason why a bike jersey should cost 100 eur, let alone 200.

One caveat: Specialized came out with a road helmet with a carbon fiber shell. It's not just a piece of foam. The chinese version is just foam, which makes it dangerous. But pretty much all the other road helmets i know of are just moulded foam, and foam is foam. By that, i dont mean that a chinese helmet is just as safe, but for the riding i do, i'll take the chance.

One thing that chinese helmets dont do is MIPS. Then again, until MIPS was a thing, people were riding just fine without it, and so, i ride a helmet without MIPS.

Another caveat: if you race / race crits, then maybe buy a real one, to have the peace of mind? If you commute, the same?
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

Which one are you running? Did you get them on ali?

no experience with the Sunrimoon brand, but I have bought and worn Chinese helmets in the past.  A few months ago I watched a YouTube video by a bicycle content creator who did destructive testing on AliEx helmets vs. those sold in the USA by name brands.  The AliEx helmets shattered on impact, as opposed to deforming like they are supposed to.  It was kind of a wake-up for me that at least some Chinese off-brand helmets are made of inferior materials and could fail when I need them most.  After seeing that video, I've stuck with more expensive, MIPS helmets bought in the USA.

That sounds like something Francis Cade would do, and that definitely sounds like a good ole case of premium brand VS the counterfeit garbage with fake stickers posing as the real deal.
No personal attack because Cade sounds orders of magnitude more transparent and honest than the average youtube sellout, but I'm fucking tired of cherrypicked "sort by cheapest", sketchiest looking products on wish VS reputable western brand comparisons that always end in "well clearly chinese shit sucks, better buy from our sponsor mucoff if you don't want to die!"

I've begged Joe to stock sunrimoon on pandapodium because sunrimoon selection is scarce on ali. If not, I'll probably settle for the rockbros one because it looks somewhat aero and that's what I most care about since I have no intentions of crashing  8)

1-3 year old new-in-box helmets from Western brands that are no longer the latest and newest models are pretty easy to find for under 100 USD/EUR.

You can order Sunrimoon helmets through their website instead of AliX.

Way too risky to buy a helmet from Aliexpress, you only have one brain

That's where you're wrong.
