Carbonda Fm-1002 vs lightcarbon lcfs947

I'm currently trying to decide between both of these frames and would love to hear the communities opinion between these two frames.  I plan on running the fm-1002 with a 160mm travel fork up front.  The lcfs947 would likely recieve the same travel fork.

I looked in to both of these frame, ended up with the fm1002. Have not had any issues, its a great riding bike.

The inability to run a dropper post with a good amount of drop ruled it out the 947 for me as I have long legs, I have a 200mm drop on my XL fm1002 and could even go bigger if I wanted.

I rather deal with 2 bearings than shorter seat tube length. 947 works ok with the oneupv2 but i already have non-oneup dropper and don't want to spend 200+$ for additional one.
So if you are planning to buy a Large frame you can work with oneup v2's dropper(short stack).

There are at least 2 or three aftermarket 1.5/1.5 headset options out there. FSA and Ritchey to name a couple.

I’ve been perfectly happy with my FSA, though I definitely noticed some issues with the Carbonda OEM headset.

Surprisingly my OEM headset has been problem free! Like Draz said seat tube length is more of an issue and 1.5/1.5 headset, seems to becoming on more bikes now too.

So after thinking about it seat post insertion is something that would be important to me.  I ended up going with the carbonda fm1002.   Now I'm curious has anyone ran a 170mm fork on the fm1002?

Yeah, The bike is actually spec'd for 160mm fork so 10mm more of travel is not a serious overfork. My FM1002 with a 170mm Lyrik has a head angle of ~64.1°. So its about half a degree slacker.

You could seriously overfork it running a 180mm and still have a 63.5° head angle, but frame might end up feeling too small. Reach is decreased when overforking.

Rides great with a 170mm fork. Also I recommend reading through the FM1002 thread, before building/buying components.

I bought the Ritchey full headset and the OEM headset. When its time to replace my headset, I already have a spare Ritchey bearing and a spare Carbonda bearing. That probably won't be for a few years.

If you are okay with a internal routing, FSA makes two headsets that are almost always in stock.

I’ve run mine with a 170 fork all season. Works well as an all-around bike but once I do my 1003 build with the Fox 38 currently on my 1002, I’ll probably try 160 on the spring rebuild with a lighter fork like a 2023 (Charger 3) Lyrik.

I’ve over-forked all my bikes in the past but the 1002 doesn’t necessarily need that and I’m hoping that aside from taking some weight off the front end, dropping to 160 will make the bike more nimble at low speed. The 1002 would become my daily driver bike for local trails mostly and the 1003 would take over my big mountain missions, park days etc.

I built my FM1002 with a 170mm Lyric fork. The bike feels quite natural with this fork.
