Handlebars for cable routing through stem
« on: December 13, 2022, 09:52:33 AM »
Is anyone aware of "chinese" handlebars designed with an oval hole at the stem clamping area for routing brake cables through the stem like the FSA ACR or Deda DCR systems require? Example picture attached. I wasn't able to find a single one so far on aliexpress but many of the modern road bikes implement such stems/handlebars/headsets so surely something should be available? I would like to avoid spending 300€ on something like Deda, Vision or 3T.
Cheers,
Tim

My Velobuild frameset came with exactly the same bar and stem as you describe. They probably sell those separately too.

And on Aliexpress -

They do sell them. http://www.velobuild.com/products/2021-new-carbon-handlebar-with-separate-stem
Given how many people are happily riding VB bikes, i wouldn't be afraid to order a set.
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

Wow, seems like there actually are plenty of bars to choose from, thanks for the input. I had the idea to check Yishun where I once ordered some rims and it actually looks like they manufacture the "The One" handlebars...? I think I am going to try the HB058.

Their HB088 also looks suspiciously similar to the "The One Pro 2022" handlebar/stem combo. While not exactly the same (steerer clamping, topcap interface), there are lots of elements like the cable routing area under the stem and the chamfer along the tops that are identical.

Close but that is not the one bar :) There are a ton of bars available although not many considered very light.

The one I linked above to alibaba, that is the real manufacturer of all "the one pro bar" which is just rebranded/resells. The real manufacturer is on Alibaba.

The one you linked looks very much like the classic Alanera copy from aliexpress. Heavy and cheap. Anything over 350 gram is very heavy.

I use this one in size 360 since it is the smallest I could find and I needed the central hole in the clamping area as well

Weighs 221g and the quality is fine. I also use one for CX.

Can someone tell me how the internal cabling would work on this thing?
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802857374440.html?

In the third photo I see two cable guides sticking out from middle of the stem body where the fork steerer would go. Once the stem is installed on steerer tube, where will cables go? Or I am understanding this wrong. I also see two cable routing holes underneath the actual handlebar which are possibly for semi-internal/external routing?

@badIuck, Did you order these bars, or at least get a quote?  Will they ship 1 handlebar to an end customer (if you know)?  Might be good for my purposes if the price is right!

nope, unfortunately they never replied...
I did actually go ahead and order this handlebar/stem combo which seems to be identical to the "The One Pro" handlebar:

Oh they absolutely do. Here is the response I got sometime in January -
