New ICAN frames? (A27 and climbing frame w/o name)
« on: July 23, 2023, 07:08:38 AM »
Does anyone know anything about the two frames below? Can't find anything at all about these frames via Google search. I am looking for a frame for a somewhat weight weenie build but I'd like to have fully integrated cables and these frames look like they might fit the bill:
https://www.icanbikes.com/products/super-light-full-internal-road-disc-brake-frame
https://www.icanbikes.com/products/carbon-road-disc-frame-a27

I have just written ICAN an e-mail about these. I will share if there is any new info.

There have been a couple of aethos clones on Alibaba on and off for the last few months, one with internal routing that look a lot like the superlight frame here. The only thing that held me back was that these kept getting delisted (big red flag) and I dont have room for another bike frame.

If they could make these clear a 35mm tire but keep the aethos-like geo, these would make a really great frame general use frame for everything from a bit of CX to commuting. Especially if they used a BB standard that was eccentric friendly.

Edit: I have no experience with this seller, but here are the links:
Internal routing through headset: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/2023-Lightest-Weight-650g-same-to_1600860750115.html?spm=a2700.shop_plgr.41413.3.39582af1cVmqH2
Internal routing through downtube: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/2023-Lightest-Weight-690g-same-to_1600861204788.html?spm=a2700.shop_plgr.41413.7.39582af1cVmqH2

I also realize the Ican version is different in terms of HT, FD cable exit and rear dropout.

Really interesting frames as well.
I tried to do some digging on them. What I noticed is that the seller also offers an Epic Evo fullsuspension copy. Two friends of mine also got really lightweight Epic fullsuspension frames through "allstarbicycle.com" where a couple of guys I know had purchased SL7 and Epic hardtail copies with no problems at all for a few years now.
The Epic FS geo cad table illustration, some pictures and the font on allstarbicycle.com are exactly the same as for the Epic frame from the seller you linked.
Now unfortunately the Epic fullsuspension frames which my friends probably bought from the same seller/factory unfortunately cracked at the BB and chainstay after very few rides. While they are receiving replacements and people have been happy with other frames from that website, I guess I would be careful about the super lightweight stuff from them.
Some pictures of the failures and comparison screenshots of the alibaba seller/allstarbicycle.com attached.
