Koozer 6 Pawl Boost Hubs
« on: November 06, 2023, 05:24:00 PM »
Looking to build two budget wheelsets and wondering if anyone has any experience with the koozer 6 Pawl hubs.
With all the mixed reviews of the ratchet units from ali I am leaning towards the tried and true pawl hubs styles.

Hi, I'm in similar situation with my new boost and microspline build.
There are so many cheap hubs: Fastace DA201, Arc MT007, MT009, Novatec D042SB, Koozer XM490 Pro, XM390 and many ratchet hubs.
Which one is more reliable than others?
Weight, sound and engagement can be middle ground.
Also I can buy used Spank Hex Drive rear hub around ~$100, is it better choice?

Also why is there no, bit heavy but durable ratchet hub exist? At least if it's lighter than Novatec D042SB, it can sell better than pawl hubs.

So I've recently rebuilt a few new sets with Ali budget boost hubs, after a frame change. (HG freehub, 6bolt)

Best weight, really good pawl system and good bearings.

Good reliable pawls, smooth runner.

Excellent freehub and build quality, but bearing quality is hit n miss.

All of these hubs do lack extra sealing for the bearing end caps.
But that's is standard for budget hubs, and not much of an issue when quality bearings are used.
