But saying UAE is bad and the US is virtuous is cognitively dissonant to such an extent that I had to point it out.

I don't know where you read that. Certainly not in my post. I didn't write one word about the US.
With "other options" I meant something like icTrainer, as in an individual selling his own software and asking for a very reasonable licence fee in return (rather than wanting all my data). And honestly, a training software is all I need. I don't care about flashy graphics, digital social rides and online racing.

Just cancelled zwift over the weekend, every month I see the subscription fee go out and I think about how I haven't used it

Ah, sorry, my bad! I assumed you were comparing it to Zwift, as it's the gold standard of virtual cycling. Then yes, I agree with you. It can make sense to give your attention & money to other players for specific reasons.
It's just that most people virtue signal from a position of abysmal ignorance of history and reality, it's very irritating.
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

I think part of the point is that MyWhoosh is directly funded by the UAE government, unlike Zwift.

I tried Mywhoosh when the weather went to shits at around the end of September/early October. Tried it on the iPhone first, it was okay. Then installed it on my Macbook, terrible experience. Kept crashing all the time. Cannot recommend it for this unfortunately. Also, not a big fan of the graphics, still seems to me it's in an early Beta state. Zwift, even though I hate to admit it, does not have a direct competition at this very moment imho.

No wonder... mac is not a priority to developpers. Doesn't happen on windows. Shame they use the garbage microsoft store though. And no linux

Changed over to MyWhoosh from IndieVelo with the impending changeover spring 2025.

What's the deal with the ERG on MyWhoosh?  It seems to barely function for me no matter how I connect my power meter and Saris H3 smart trainer.

I’m using it on my Macbook Pro M1. No crashes. Flawless performance. Great graphics. Much better than Zwift in fact. And ERG works just like with any other indoor training app with my Elite Suito combined with Favero Assiomas. Nothing to complain about. Only minor issue I have with it is that it only supports Bluetooth. No ANT+. That could be an issue for some devices.
