It's fun to have a light, snappy bike that fills you with nostalgia for the period when you first started riding without all the downsides bikes from that era possess. Having a race bike with all the aero fixings is great for days where you need to go fast, but for the vast majority of rides -- even for very serious, competitive athletes -- marginal gains don't matter. On those days having a bike that makes you smile is worth infinitely more than 10w in a Tour test.

This frame has found it's way onto AliExpress. Price has been fluctuating though. It was initially listed as an Early Bird special for approximately $450 USD + shipping. Just a heads up on baseline pricing for this frameset.

Trusting your life to some random aliexpress seller pushing 800g frames is a gamble i don't feel comfortable taking. Imagine it breaks from under you. While you heal from your wounds and remortgage your house to pay for the medical bills, you're like "maybe i should have bought a frame that was 100g heavier, maybe it wouldn't have snapped".
Then again, i'm over 80kg, so i'm not the target audience.
But it's still scary to me. You just dont know who you're buying from.

Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

Has there always been this upward trend with forum members desiring fake frames and clones? Is it the influx of new members? These seem to be the main forum threads that constantly get updated on here.

It seems to be a thing of the last few months... A lot of new users asking very detailed questions about counterfeit frames... In the past there was almost no talk about fake frames. This has changes significantly...

I didn’t know the Aethos has UDH, T47 BB, internal cable routing and a longer, more upright top tube?  ;)

If anything the Seraph/Tan Tan TT-X68 is probably the biggest fake frame on this forum (didn’t you start that thread?)! At least the SPcycle R088 changed up the head tube design, allowed mechanical cable routing and opted for UDH. I like these variant framesets because they do offer something a little different and they’re not trying to 1:1 copies of the inspiration models.

I run a 130mm stem on my 54cm ~380 reach bike. Part of it is the move to narrower bars- the narrower the bars the more forward your hands go. And part of it is a change in fit philosophy which seems to be shifting road bikes towards tri fits (long and more importantly high). That is the most aero fit normal human beings can hold for a long time.

Bang on!
That's how I fit all my bikes now. Higher and longer with narrow bars.
It takes the weight off my arms while keeping me aero.

Brother, I live in America! Stepping out my front door is already a gamble everyday! Bike frames from AliEx are actually the least of my worries!  ;D

I don't understand how this is a clone any more than every single round tube alu era bike was a clone of, idk, a CAAD3? The Aethos looks like every non-aero frame of the last 30 years and vice versa!
