DIY Carbon -DCB F140 Frame

Hey all.  Thought I’d post this here since there wasn’t much info on this frame around here.  Just got the frame today.  Took a bit to get the ball started in terms but once it got to paint it took weeks to complete the custom design.  Once paint was done Ty shipped it super fast.  Left HK on the 8th and arrived at my place today, Nov 11th.

I’ve ordered and built numerous bikes, MTB, road and TT bike.  This one by far showed the most competent paint job, finishings and packaging.  They nailed my design and color request, so far so good.

Planning on finishing her up with XT brakes, Fox Float II Factory rear shock, front RS Lyric in red, SRAM Eagle X01 with AXS transmission, and 29iN Carbon wheels from ICAN.

Can’t wait to see how it turns out.  More pics to follow.

It is the FM1001, and Vortac acknowledged that in another standalone thread they made about the DIYCarbon version. Still coming from China with a middle man when no one seems to have an issue dealing with Carbonda directly. Curious what DIYCarbon will actually offer that is different. Seems like their US presence doesn't actually mean anything if the frames are painted and shipped from China.

Not really based in the US, they just got a warehouse in Georgia and a local phone number to reach out and leave voicemails and such.  According to Ty, this warehouse has some stock of matte and glossy black frames for quick shipping to clients in the US.  My frame had custom paint, so it had to come from Asia, that’s where the bulk of their operation is.

I’ve had fantastic communication with Ty, not sure where he’s at, but I don’t think he’s Asian, he replies to me emails super quick with perfect English, and also during normal US times, which leads me to believe he may be here in US, but not really sure.  I’ve reached out to him a bunch the last few weeks and his communication has been stellar.

It sure is.  I researched the frame really well the last few weeks.  There was a lot info on Carbonda’s version of this frame, but not that much on DIY’s version, so I thought I’d chip in and share my experience in case it helps anybody down the road…

In my particular case DIY’s frame was cheaper (albeit not by much) but much faster shipping.

Figured I share some of the progress.  Today was the bulk of building process.  Just waiting on the hardware for my FOX Float Factory rear shock, waiting on a seat clamp, 180mm XT rotor for rear and still need to cut some tubes there, but it sure is taking shape.  So far pretty happy with the results  .

I ordered some DIY Rims earlier in the year and frankly, l won't buy from them again. The shipping was slow and the communication was terrible. I ordered from them thinking that they had some management in the United States, that would make communication more effective and maybe even quicker shipping. But no. It wasnt a bad experience. But wasn't great either. I got my rims and they look just fine.

Hello. I wanted to share my experience with this frame (DIY F140) on this forum. I was surprised by the speed of shipping, receiving it at home just 10 days after purchase. TY's customer service was excellent and they responded to my emails promptly. The frame arrived in the correct packaging. I've attached photos of the project process.

I liked the bike aesthetically; what's most important is its functionality, and in the coming days I'll be testing it on the roads and trails in my area. For now, I'm satisfied with this project.
