Author Topic: Is my winspace safe to ride? Hole in BB area covered with epoxy resin.  (Read 711 times)

I just got my winspace t1550 gen 2 frame. Frame looks great but I m a bit concerned with a glue patch in the BB area. Headset hole has a with dent also but doesn't seem very concerning.

Seatpost goes in the seat tube quite easily without any resistance, is that OK?

I find quite suspicious that someone bothered to cover the ugly hole with glue, there is some white paint inside the frame BB area and if I use the flashlight inside the BB area the surroundings of the serial number sticker are lit in the outer part of the frame.

Mandy from winspace says that everything is OK, is my frame safe to ride? It seems that it's a refurbished frame, the fork steerer has an horizontal line at stem height.

Winspace seems to be struggling with EPS molding. It's probably worth reaching out to a carbon fiber specialist. That's not the worst I've seen but I can't say for sure it's fine.

In California we have Spyder Composites, even if you're not local, you might be able to just send them the photos and see what they say.

Looks like it's just a big epoxy booger. I would ride that. Other frames we've seen recently looked like they were missing entire chunks of carbon, with delaminated bits. Yours has an epoxy booger, it's probably fine. Also, Winspace will never replace your frame so it's better if you don't try a return in the 1st place :)

It's just ironic though that the fake Factor frames people have been buying on this forum are better finished than Winspace frames.

No resistance at all on the seat post probably means the tolerances are a tad off, but as long as you can tighten it with the clamp, you'll be fine. Ask them what the torque spec is on that bolt. Insult them if they can't answer.
Fast on the flat. And nowhere else.

now that I think about it, the dent in the picture I attached is normal, maybe they just started filling in that dent because people kept messaging about it.

There is like a little pocket with the frame carbon fiber and an almost parallel carbon fiber layer covered by glue. The glue looks afterthought, it might be covering more than the eps leftovers and there could be a hole there.

I think I can get access to xray locally, I don't like asking for that kind of favours if not really necessary but I think I might give it a go

What's the point paying extra for Winspace when AliExpress EPS molded frames look better? Winspace has really nosed dive.

Crazy how much Winspace has fallen off since I got my T1550 Gen1, it was flawless…

Crazy when you think about it. I've had my 1st gen T1500 for over 3 years now, and it's arguably still the best finished Chinese frame I've ridden till this day. As nice as the SL8, nicer than the Giant Propel. Better tolerance than the Tavelo Arow. With the tariff situation, I'm tempted to just hold on to the frame for emergencies.

2021 to 2023 was the golden era for modern Chinese brands. Companies were working hard to gain our business. This very forum was absolutely flourishing with new bike builds what seemed almost daily.

Ordered my 1550 Black Friday of 23’. Patrick, you really should do a tier list of all the Chinese brands and where they rank. I feel like Winspace has gone from S tier to B tier. I find it hard to recommend them now to others with the price increases and recent quality issues.
