HongFu FM309 - TT/Tri bike
« on: May 09, 2025, 07:16:02 AM »
HongFu has a new TT bike on show at the Shangai bike show (saw a picture thanks to a Slowtwitch forum member). It's under their direct to consumer "Avenger" brand

Since there is a bit of interest on the forum in TT bikes (with the ICAN, Velobuild and Winow threads). I reached out to HongFu for some more details.
They responded with some more pictures and the geometry chart. The bike should be for sale in 2025 via their Avenger brand.

What are your experiences with HongFu?

looks pretty good geometry wise, XL look nice and large for us tall folk. Would be curious of tire clearance, storage options, and if it comes with a decent cockpit.

32c clearance would be lovely, hydration system looks nice on the first picture, but no bento box possible because of the hose (?)

the bento 'box' probably in the toptube itself.

the fact the make use of the bb shell area as storage is good space utilization.
tpu tubes, tire levers, e-pumps n compact multitool should fit in there.
flush stem like winow tt119 ,its nicer than my tt912

You might be right, that would "explain" the black part on the toptube.

Good point for the bb shell area storage !

Looking forward to have more details.

The colab designer is a guy, Jeroen, from the Netherlands. For those not familiar, he owns a Bike/Tri shop (TRIPRO) and sells an open mould bike under his own label 'Vanquish'. I does come with a different cockpit (and maybe fork, not sure), so even in that frame-offer he put some thought. That bike is quite good (spoke some ppl how own one), but given it's standard set-up leaning towards 'entry-level' athletes (off course upgradable, but it's a good choice to aim for a bit lower pricepoint since the bigbrands a making Tri-bikes too expensive).

Apparantly he now teamed up with HongFu (and Culprit). He's also a longtime contributer to Slowtwitch and does know his stuff about triathlon/duathlon/bikes. That being said, it's not easy to check how much he has actually done and how much is the work/effort from HongFu

Can someone check with TRipro on Slowtwitch, or directly with Hongfu about UDH?

Edit:

Just asked on Slowtwitch and it is indeed a UDH frame.

Hi guys,

I’m looking for a triathlon frame and this seems to be a perfect match for me. From what I saw, Avenger (and Hongfu) does have a solid reputation, doesn’t it?

I’m just a bit confused for the frame size. I’m 175cm tall and 83cm inseam but the geometry chart is a bit wired. I don’t know witch size to take between the XS and the S one. Do you have any suggestion how to choose?

Thanks :)

Do a bike fit to test different positions, it will pay back in a long run. TT bike sizing is tricky to get right if you haven't had prior experience with such bikes and depends a lot on other antropometric factors which will define efficiency for a given set of possible positions.

TRIPRO, from Slowtwitch forum abandoned the project.

The development included a custom front (with culprit, another user on the slowtwitch forum), this front end of the frame would be very adjustable with lots of reach, but it did not pass the tests, Hongfu didn't want to continue testing, so they parted Hongfu.

From what I understand, the bike is on preorder directly with Hongfu, there's a couple pictures of it on facebook (included in this post).
