29 Full sus from Scott Scale 960: CS-036?

Hi!
Thanks for all the great information posted on this forum

Im looking to get a 29 full suspension bike and transferring as much as possible from my Scott Scale 960 2014. I will write down the spec in the bottom.

Is the cs-036 one of the best? Looks so to me
I need to buy rear suspension, any tips that suits the rest of the stuff?
What else really needs to be upgraded or simply will not fit the new frame?

Any help is much appreciated

You will need a new bottom bracket, your current one appears to be PF86/92, the CS-036 is not available with that bottom bracket.  You might want to switch to a BSA threaded bottom bracket.  If your crank has a 24mm spindle it will work with the BSA bottom bracket, otherwise you will need to either get a new crank or adapt the spindle to your bottom bracket.

If your fork is not cut too short, you can reuse it.  You should check the steer tube length of your fork and the head tube length of your old frame and compare it to the CS-036.

Most likely your front derailleur will not work, you would need the correct one for the CS-036.

Your brake lines might not be long enough, you might need new brake lines.

You will most likely need new shifter cables and housings.

Are your wheels thru axle?  Make sure you match up the drop outs on the new frame with your wheel hubs.

I typically find that it's easier to sell the old bike and build a new one, get the right parts from the start, you will be better off in the long run.

Your front derailleur is a definite no-go. Luckily they're only like $10-20 on eBay. You need a S3 direct mount bottom pull front derailleur.

If you wanted to move your brakes over make sure to get new olives and barbs and a bleed kit.

For rear shock the measurement is 6.5 x 1.5 (168 x 38mm). You'll also need a set of bushings for both ends of the shock, this dimension varies slightly between frames, but my 8mm x 21.8mm kit worked really well.

Something to keep in mind is that since your fork is RockShox you could buy a RockShox rear shock and control them both with their dual remote system.

Along with extra derailleur cable and housing get some ferrules and frame savers to help with running cables and brake lines.

If you have it in your budget you could also pick up a set of carbon wheels from Peter.

This information is golden since Im really not used to do anything but basic bike mentaintance.

Ill look into what you have said and learn what my approach should be.
