Decided on doing my own build thread.  I'm sure I'll have many questions, plus that way I can post stuff about my bike.

057 is a good choice, mine is holding up very well 2 years later, I'm doing a race tomorrow night with it.

What do you have planned for your build?  And what questions do you have to get started?

Got the frame, and most components, just waiting on wheels (backorder), seat (backorder), polylube, carbon paste, post clamp because I ordered wrong size, and bottle cage bolts.

Didn't have glossy instock, so I got Seta instead, which I had never heard of, but Peter assured me they're just as good. Ordered on April 25, 2016

free uploader The crown race slides on without any effort, seems little loose. thought it should be really tight, is this ok?

My Neco came with a solid crown race- those are an interference fit, so it is really tight.  I've not used a split one, but it looks like they have been around a while.  Are you able to get everything tight, with no rocking or creaking of the headset?

Have not put it in yet, but I have a star nut inside tube, I'm thinking should be pushed out through bottom?

With the split ring design, it will never be "tight".  I guess they can work, but certainly not prefered.  I had a split washer type that came OEM on my Santa Cruz TallBoy LT, I could never get the headset to stay tight, so I replaced the entire thing with a King headset, now now worries at all.  The original Cane Creak headset had a bunch of plastic pieces in it.  Not sure what the actual culprit was, but I'm much happier with the King, so much that I ordered another one for my Road Bike.  I guess I'm at an age and financial position that I can just drop some coin to have the best of some things.  Maybe not everything, but when talking $40 vs $140, I can do the $140.

I had a bad experience with a split ring when building my kid bike too(a CS-016).
When tightening the headset, the steering wasn't smooth and made a rubbing noise( scratching a little the bottom of the headtube ).

Putting a solid crown instead solved the issue( hitting it with a piece of wood to put in place, as I didn't have the tube tool at that time ).
It is strange as they both had the same height and diameter.

Hmm wonder if I could just purchase a solid crown race, and where could I find one that fits? Might install and see how it goes.
