Re: The Different Types of Carbon Fiber and Their Characteristics It will be nice if this thread could also explain the differences between various tensile strengths and tensile modulus, e.g., T700 T800 T1000.

Just another Og-Evkin CF-025 Build Finally built the 100% Aliexpress bike I've been wanting to do for a while. Or at least, it would have been 100% if not for a couple of broken parts. Specs and a mini review below:

Specs:
Frame - Og-Evkin CF-025 Superlight T800
Wheelset - Og-Evkin Battle C45 45mm deep clincher | Ultralight Novatec FS61/62 Carbon Hubs
Tyres - Continental GP5000
Handlebars - Carbon Og-Evkin HB-011
Stem - FSA Omega 80mm
Groupset: Shimano 105 R7000
Pedals - Knockoff Shimano SPD's
Seatpost - Carbon Og-Evkin SP-008
Saddle - Og-Evkin

Weight: 7.3kg, if my Aliexpress weighing scale is to be believed

Compared to some of the chiner frames i've seen on the internet, the finishing on this frame is superb. The fork steerer was somewhat uneven but I don't think it's a big issue. My only complaint regarding the frame would be the front mech hanger screws. Mine rounded the first time I tried tightening them, and they only give spares for the rear hanger. I'd request for extras or get some better ones in advance. I bought the og-evkin wheelset mostly for convenience, but I'm actually quite happy with it. Braking feels better than my elitewheels set, and unlike the latter, these actually arrived true.

- I actually ordered the Og-Evkin SM-004 Stem but one of the threads came stripped. Thats the 2nd carbon stem I've ordered on Ali and the 2nd that has arrived like that.

- The saddle is just a random saddle being sold by a bunch of other stores as well, and its definitely not worth it. Feels really cheap and isn't particularly comfortable.

- The Ultegra SPD replicas broke literally within the first 2km, despite the decent reviews. I suppose its good that they broke fast while I can still get a refund.

I'm too casual a rider to comment on the technical aspects i.e stiffness, etc, and I haven't done a proper ride with it yet, but it does feel a bit more nimble than my old Merida Scultura, thought thats probably because it's lighter and smaller.

I was gonna ride to a nice place to take some nice photos but the crazy weather didn't allow it, so, apartment hallway it is

Re: Velo Build R-099 Build Hi everyone,
joined this forum end of 2021 when I was looking for information on velobuild. After reading through this forum and checking with Chris I decided to order a VB-R-099. The build is completed in the meantime and waiting for spring to arrive so I can take the bike on the road. Reason I chose the VB-R-099 were integrated cable routing and available frame size option 58. I am 1.95 m tall with 96 cm in seam length, typically ride a 86 cm saddle to bottom bracket length and something like 10 to 13 cm saddle to stem drop.

Wanted to share my bike and a few experiences, with my theme being inspired by Chinertown I decided to use a Sensah Empire Pro shifting set, a Juin Tech F1 brake and 50mm deep Elite wheels. I also opted for the separated bar and stem combo since I was not sure regarding the integrated bar shape and I wanted the freedom to swap either stem or bar. This has been noted before in the forum, I ordered a 120mm stem but when I measure what I received it is more a 125mm or even a 130mm the way we measure stems here in Germany.

With all mechanical shifting and brake I struggled quite a bit with the internal cable routing. Tried to use compressionless cable housing first, but struggled big time to route the housing, especially from the bar into the stem and run cables through it. Swapped the compressionless KEB-SL housing with standard Shimano brake housing, which was easier to be routed through the bar and the stem into the frame. When installing cables into the housing it worked, but operation was not perfectly smooth. Therefore I decided to swap the velobuild spacers with a common set you can buy from Aliexpress. You will either have to cut the bottom spacer or fill it with epoxy so it becomes a plain surface that can sit flush with the ¾ ring of the top headset bearing. I also cut out the top spacer so I could run the cables from underneath the steam into the spacer. I understand this is not a perfect internal cable routing, but it eases setup and enables cable routing and smooth operation of brakes and shifting and I am satisifed with the result.

I am attaching a few pictures of the build and the cable routing. Since my camera is struggling with the different shades of red I am also posting the custom paint link on the velobuild homepage.

A final comment: I found it strange, that the front axle is fixed from the drive train side rather than from the non-drive train side. Also, the 130mm axle that was shipped with the frame was a bit long and stood out quite significant on the brake side. I ordered a shorter set from Aliexpress which leaves less excess thread being visible once the front wheel is fastened with the axle.

Oh, almost forgot: tried to fit a Specialized seatpost cover because I read in this forum people have successfully done that. Can anybody confirm? My VB-R-099 seatpost is shaped thicker at the front and smaller at the tail, Specialized seatposts seem to be the other way round hence the cover would not fit a VB-R-099?

Re: Tideace FM-CR060 New Mold Gravel Frame 700*47C Just wanted to show the bike with the gravel setup.

My only complaint comes from the sensah rear derailleur pulleys. After riding gravel the pulleys had gotten sandy grit around the pulley bearings. I could feel the resistance when cleaning. I had to remove the pulleys from the derailleur and spray the grit out of the bearings.  None of my shimano or sram pulleys have let in that much grit on the same gravel routes. It's a big annoyance to know they need more maintenance.

I also don't like how wide the bars are for my size.  They'd be too wide for a guy 6ft tall imo. I like the flared dropped if the bars were just narrower.

Paint and fitment still good as I had them when I built the bike.  Have about 50/50 gravel road use on the frame.

Re: Onirii One Interesting! Considering how well their brakes work really does not give much confidence in buying a rather expensive lightweight frameset from them. At that price there is quite a few options.

Tsunami Seaboard GR02 Budget Gravel Build I haven't seen much discussion about this affordable aluminum gravel frameset, so I decided to buy one and assemble a really budget focused build (ignoring the wheels which I already had on hand). I bought nearly everything on Aliexpress and the total build cost (ignoring wheels) came to just a bit over 1000 CAD including shipping.

Everything eventually arrived in good shape, and the frame itself was very well packed. The frame is really decent quality and definitely exceeded my expectations, the fork is also reasonably nice, with no obvious defects. It is a bit strange that the fork required the disc adapter set to 140 mm even though I am using 160 mm rotors, perhaps you could use 180 mm rotors if you wanted?

It was a bit confusing to figure out how to route the shift cables and ultimately decided that crossing them inside the downtube performed the best. It was also necessary to use anti vibration foam on the rear brake cable housing to keep it from rattling.

I used Kalloy UNO stem and handlebars, which are unbeatable price/performance, and used the L-TWOO RX 12 speed groupset, which also exceeded my expectations. The shifting is nice and crisp with the front shifting being a bit worse than my other bike equipped with Shimano 105 R7020, but overall very comparable. I did have to swap out both cable pinch bolts on the front and rear deraillieurs but other than that no major problems so far.

The brakes are Zrace BR-005 and Zrace 160mm rotors and they perform very well, comparable to my R7020 hydraulic brakes using 140 mm rotors on my road bike. I am using Jagwire compressionless housing front and rear.

The wheels (which I already owned) are Light Bicycle AR46 laced to DT350 hubs, and are wearing Continental Terra Speed 700x40 tires.

Total weight without pedals is a very respectable 8.8 kg.

For reference the frame is size 53 (L) and I am 179 cm tall, it fits perfectly.

After 100km so far my experience has been overwhelmingly positive! I had to tighten the headset after the first ride, I'm sure that was just the crown race settling a bit and since then it has remained tight with no play.

Re: Does anyone have any info on this ONIRII hill clmbing frameset? Looks interesting but rather expensive and weight limit at 85kg....
Would be great to hear some first hand experiences.
