I'm looking to try the "Puncture proof" Continental Gatorskin tyres. Do they really reduce frequent flats? Any real world user experience will be appreciated.

Also what do you guys do to reduce flats? Do share your hacks or best puncture proof tyres for carbon wheelsets you have tried.
Looking for reliability over performance here.
P/s; I prefer using inner tubes even on tubeless ready wheelsets.

I ride 700c/28mm tyres.

Thanks.

When this website went down few hours back I was like "what am I going to do with my life now" LOL
Didn't realize I get some dopamine shots from visiting this site, until it was down for few hours :D
What happened that lead to the website's down time?

Just want to appreciate the owners /admins for making this site possible!

Ps: Feel free to delete or move this thread admin.

Hi guys!

I want to ask if anyone has experience with buying or custom making a "set-front" seat post.
I need to reduce the effective top tube / reach for an indoor trainer frame setup.

I have tried to rotate the usual setback seat post to face forward but the saddle will face upwards and can never get leveled horizontally.

I'll probably go to a local welding shop to modify my alloy seatpost if I can't find any online to buy.

Many thanks for any suggestions on how to get a seat post with "set front" seat clamping feature.

Thanks!

Lately I've been looking into getting a UCI frameset for a change, at the best price to quality ratio compared to open mold frames.

Seeing a world tour bike snap into two like this scott bike in the video makes me wonder if the high price to get a frame with a UCI sticker is even worth it?

Just wondering if anyone here is safely running 50mm spacers above their headset dust cap for a carbon steerer tube on any bike?

Asking because I would need 50mm spacers on the Falath EVO, to fit the frame to my liking.
Aesthetically, only 20mm out of the 50mm of spacers would pop above the top tube level of that frame.
(Side note: The dust cap is about 10mm already, so altogether, 60mm stacked above the "C-ring")

Basically just want to know what is the max spacers (above 40mm) anyone here is safely using and for how long now?

Thanks!

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Gusto 2023 DURO EVO

This looks great!
Tadej Pogacar's former team rides this brand.
I don't mind this over the Falath EVO.
Taiwan brand if I'm not mistaken.
Looks like they only sell this as a complete bike.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Shoes rubbing crank arms
« on: December 19, 2022, 09:55:52 PM »

Does anyone have their cycling shoes rubbing crank arms and solved the issue?

I have 3 cycling shoes (same size) with all the cleats set exactly the same, spot-on.
However, 2 of the shoes rub on both crank arms till the paints are rubbed off the cranks.

Visually I do notice that the 2 shoes that rub the cranks are built/made slightly wider.
These shoes are all direct from china shoes and not the expensive branded once. Is this why?
Does anyone have expensive branded shoes that rub too (maybe cheap shoes are not made to specs and hence rubs the cranks? ::))

Again the cleat fit is spot-on on all 3 shoes.

Thinking of getting pedal extenders and expensive branded shoes for trouble shooting the issue.

Thanks for any advice.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Twitter R10 Complete Bike
« on: August 15, 2022, 08:40:55 PM »

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with Twitter bikes.

I'm looking at the R10 2022 complete bike model with alloy wheelset, mechanical hydraulic brakes with jagwire cables and Retrospec /sensah groupset for about USD890.

Looking to get an "Always ready to ride" backup bike without the trouble of building one from scratch and no concern for bike weight.

Looks like twitter falls around the entry level brands like Java, Sava, Gusto etc.

I don't mind any other aero geometry bike recommendations at similar complete bike price point.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Slipping Seatpost
« on: May 29, 2022, 08:11:22 PM »
Slipping seatposts are a nightmare!!!

Just thought to drop a thread on this topic so riders can vent and also share tips on how they've solved it.

Here are some tips that may help:

- Carbon paste (did not help in my case).
- Take out the clamp and clean with degreaser then add some lube to help with the slide lock action.
- Check the clamp bolt specs / length (helped in my case).
- Use fiberglass mesh tape (big help in my case).
- Change the clamp (maybe the clamp is bad in the first place).

*** Maybe only buy frames with traditional circular clamps and skip on proprietary seatposts and the coolness of modern frame designs   :-\

I wish there is an open mold out there that has done integrated seatpost like the Giant TCR Advance SL then we can stay away from clamps altogether. So far I only know of the LTK007-ISP but it is not a disc frame.

Hi guys!

I am looking to change from a 52/36 105 R7000 chainring to a 54/36 chainring combination.
Has anyone tried this successfully?

I am finding it difficult to find a 54 chainring brand that will work with my r7000 crankarm to make a 54/36 combination.
So far the only option I know of is to get a dura-ace 54/42 full crankset and that is way off my budget.
Or will the dura-ace 54 chainring work on a 105 r7000 crank arm?

Also I need to keep my 105 left crank arm because of my Xcadey power meter.

Any suggestion on where to find a 54 chainring that will work?

Thanks!

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / BXT Road 115 (BXT-ROAD-115)
« on: December 09, 2021, 08:17:21 PM »
I am considering to get the BXT road 115 frameset from BXT official store on AliExpress.
I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this frame or BXT product quality, sales and after sales service.

I was going for the velobuild press fit BB vb-r-177 but found the bxt-road-115 to be also very interesting and slightly cheaper (on sale now).
I prefer press fit BB but this comes with BSA BB. Which BB spec is better?

Any comments before I pull the trigger?

Thanks!
