I will need to double check when I get home, but I believe I have a ferrule on the end of the cable housing that goes to my Fox CTD remote.

Did you manage to check this CD ? I am just about to reroute the cable around the back of the fork and zip tie it down so the cable stays horizontal into the cable guide.

Will probably buy this to fit into the steerer tube of the fork to keep cable in place.

I think Carbon_Dude has put explanation in here about internally routing Shimano lines without have to bleed them.  I don't know whether you will be able to do it without removing the olive/pins tho as I suspect they will not fit through the frame !

Sussex pardon my ignorance but what is that Inline box in your cables?  Is that a twin-lock??
Thanks,
Andy. :)

Yep, Foxs splitter for dual remote.  Not very pretty.......

29er / Re: Hope minis on 057? / Suggestions for new brakes...
« on: August 10, 2014, 10:15:45 AM »
I was going to re-use my hope minis on my new 057 frame, with the +20mm adaptor (IS to PM) and have 200/180 rotors, however on the rear with a 180 rotor it's still not a big enough rotor!

So am i doing something stupid (always a possibility!)?

I have budgeted for new brakes, something from this decade!, so any suggestions welcome (and if/what adaptors i would need, fork is rockshox pm)

Thanks

I also don't have much of a clue about IS mounts but can the mount be reversed ?  That looks like it would bring the left hand side of the calliper down and closer to the rotor.  However it may take the RHS up and away, difficult to tell without it being in my hands !

I have just stripped down the GS and put two small sticky foam pads under the offending cover to take out any play.  Re-assembled and then each end of the GS clamped together tightly which has removed the rattle.  Not something I should have to be doing with a top end component  >:(

Sussed, thanks for posting up those IP-036 pcs!  Not enough FS bikes around here :).  I noticed your seat angle is tilted back, looks odd to me, I run my seat level to a few degrees forward so it's easy to quickly get in and out of the saddle.  I'd be really uncomfortable if I had my saddle at the angle yours is.

How is the bike riding?  Have you run into any problems or is there anything you are not happy with?

These pics were taken about 30 seconds after I finally got the front wheel on !  I do ride with a slight upward angle on my seat but it was too high and has since been adjusted.

I have just done a 300 mile tour of the Western Isles in Scotland on the 36 and loved every minute of it.  It was 98% paved roads so not really the ideal trip for a FS but it coped admirably. Since being back I have been out on my local trails in conditions more suited to the FS and it has been exceptional.  Despite being far from full fitness I am confident I will beat my PB's, the bike is light (Should be on the scales by Tuesday) and accelerates away up climbs easily. It out performs my abilities by a long way.  ;)

I have had a few issues with some of the components (rattle from Gripshift, CTD remote cable not seating properly) but none at all from the frame.  Before the build while I was waiting for components I stripped down every Pivot and bolt and greased/threadlocked then re-torqued and I haven't had a squeak or groan yet despite the frame being subject to Scotlands unpredictable weather 24hrs a day for a week.

Massively chuffed with the build.   8)

So after my last ride round a local trail a rattle has appeared  >:(

Offending item -

I was so impressed with the engineering of the whole group set this has annoyed me immensely !  Such a little thing but a rattle is a rattle....

Time to investigate !

I have just gone to XX1 with the Gripshift and am very pleased !  It took a few miles to get used to shifting up and down in the right direction.  (Resulting in a clipped in fall at .5 mph going up a steep hill  ;D), glad no one was around to see it ! ) but now i have about 400 miles on the bike it is sub-concious crisp and quick shifting.

Cockpit is as clean as it gets too !

So I am just getting around to cleaning up the bike and making some minor adjustments and came across this  :o

The Jagwire looks like it was coming out of the housing when operated and the metal threads in the outer sheath have been scraping away at the guide.  The cable was cut cleanly and inserted without a ferrule as per Fox instructions.  I can only think that I may have had too much of an angle on the cable into the shock housing as you can see where it has bent and damaged the the outer plastic, causing it to slide back and expose the metal threads.

I have re-cut and adjusted the angle of the cable and it seems to be operating smoothly again but it is something I need to keep an eye on !

If any of you have had anything similar please chip in with some suggestions !

Have just ridden the Outer Hebrides from the most southerly point to the northern tip, then over to Isle of Skye.

Headwinds, driving rain and the odd moment of brilliant sunshine !
