Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Velobuild GF-002

It's me again.
The cabeling in the handlebars and stem has now worked, but there is a problem to lay the 4 cables in the area of the headset.
Currently I lay the cables from the handlebars through the compression ring into the frame to the brakes and the derailleurs and then try to install the fork. I try 2 cables left and 2 right from the fork tube to pass, but it does not work. Since the cables from Jagwire Pro Set are very rigid, I have enormous problems to install the fork and at the same time compression ring.
Does anyone have tips or a video what this explains well?

I bought the BR-005. Either I lost the mounting screws and 160mm adapters or they were not supplied. Can I just order any other adapters and use them or must it be the adapters from ZRace?

I would like to order them not through Aliexpress because it takes me too long. Has someone a tip where I get these quickly?

My build  is progressing piece by piece.

As the first wheelset I will use the ENT Elite Wheels with Conti 5000 in 28mm.

What very cheap wheelset and what tires would you recommend for gravel?
What maximum tire width fits (700c) in the frame?

Hi guys,
I started building my own bike for the first time.

Frame: Velobuild GF002
Group: Sensah Empire 11s
Brakes: ZRace BR-005 (mechanical disc brakes)
Wheels: Elite Wheels Edge
Tires: Conti GrandPrix 5000 S TR (tubeless)
Shift cables/brake cables and housing: Jagwire Pro

Currently I am in the process of routing the housing in the handlebars. But this is much more difficult than I thought. It is so complicated that I think I will not manage to lay the housing cause there ist not enough space. Attached I have a few photos of the current state. I managed to get the housings of the brake cables in the handlebar, but I don't see a chance to get the housings for the shift cables in there as well.
Does anyone of you have a tip?

It is the separate handlebar and stem from the GF002.

Hello,
I bought the ZRace BR-005 to mount on my wife's future Velobuild GF-002 gravel bike. I have read that for the best braking performance I need the brakes with Jagwire cables and housings. Can someone tell me exactly which product I need there? I find many different options.

In addition, I have ordered the Cooma brake pads.

Chris B.:
I measured the break pads installed in my Zrace BR-005 with following values: Height 29.5mm / Width 26.5mm / Pad only height 16.5mm
Result: Should be K04S compatible so ordered some Cooma BP944ExPlus-RS805 to try:

Thank you so much for trying to help me with the color. The frame is a surprise for my wife for Christmas.

She dreams of a shiny dark red or bordeaux bike. It should look like red caramel.
I have seen for example a original Tarmac SL7 which looks like what my wife wants. They call the color "red tint carbon".
You can find it here for example: https://www.biker-boarder.de/specialized/2858114s.html

Another color I found online is:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/234253420679?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=707-134425-41852-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=234253420679&targetid=1713533833844&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=20235&poi=&campaignid=17731953013&mkgroupid=142643597030&rlsatarget=pla-1713533833844&abcId=9301016&merchantid=115516150&gclid=CjwKCAiAyfybBhBKEiwAgtB7frJ_sEvBGAiL5-3I-ZfnSTin9RB3w4yEAnX7nR3FsVFMdZc_940F7hoCIN8QAvD_BwE

It should be as close to that shiny dark red as possible. Do you think that would be possible?

I would be very grateful if you could help me to find the right pantone.

About Sizing: Why you should go for a 52 on the 168 I dont understand. This is way smaller. Have you compared the bikes on geometrygeeks.bike?

I went for the 168 as I wanted to have something in between climbing and aero. You may be aware of the integrated stem/bar combo as it's like the Metron 5d with foward bend.

Color: You order, then get a mail by chris with your color wishes and send him pantone codes. Then you get a mockup to approve, tada!

Shipping to Germany: Go for XDB. No additional taxes as it comes via Belgium or Netherlands to Germany.

Chris advised me to go with size 52 based on my specs. When I compared the data on Geometrygeeks, I noticed that the size 54 is closer to my Focus.
At the Focus I sit comfortably, but have the problem that I have the seatpost almost all the way down because of my leg length.
In addition, the setback of the seatpost.
For these 3 reasons I thought that Chris is right with the 52 and that could probably fit.
But I'm no specialist for bike geometries.

With the color I have now understood everything. But still looking for the right dark red shiny color as in the posted picture. Is there a pantone color palette somewhere?

XDB check :-)

I have written again with Chris because of the painting. For all others: In the store there is the product "Velobuild Customized Painting Fee" where I can simply add the custom painting and then tell chris by email how the frame should look or what colors should be used.

The frames are painted with Pantone colors. Does anyone here have an overview of the colors? I don't know Pantone.

I am looking for a shiny dark red for my girlfriend. Actually exactly what I found on Velobuild.com in the reviews of the VBR-168. Unfortunately Chris told me that this color was painted by the buyer himself and couldn't tell me a similar color.

Do any of you have a hint which Pantone color it could be or close to (see picture)?

Hello all,

I would like to order my frame from Velobuild tomorrow at the latest (BlackFriday).
I was actually sure at the beginning that I want a VBR-168. However, through various videos and forum posts I am now again considering between VBR-168, VBR-177 and VBR-218.

Visually, I like the VBR-168 the best. I'm just tormented by the question: are the other two frames better in terms of speed/aerodynamics/weight in conjunction with comfort and workmanship/material?
In general, it's pretty flat where we live. I like to go fast and don't let it roll, but do not participate in competitions.

I currently ride a Focus Culebro SL 1.0 from 2015 in size M with the following geometry: https://geometrygeeks.bike/bike/focus-culebro-3-0-2014/
I'm 172cm tall with a 78cm inseam (short legs). It is my first bike and I sit there actually quite well on it, only problem: The seatpost is only minimally extended due to my short legs. So I would like to have a shorter seat tube on the new bike. My optimal seat height is 69cm.

For VBR-168 Chris has advised me to size S 52. For the others I have no info yet.

1. which frame of the three would you choose and why?
2. what size should I choose for 218 and 177?
3. how to order a special color that is not in the store? By email?
4. what is the difference between EMS and XDB shipping to Germany? Which one should I take? I'll have 2 frames sent to me right away. Other is GF-002 for my wife.

Hope you can give me some advice.
Timo

Component Deals & Selection / Black Friday
« on: October 28, 2022, 05:47:03 AM »
Hey,
I am about to build a China road bike for me and two gravel bikes, for my wife and my father.
Probably I buy all frames from Velobuild (VBR168 and GF002).
For the road bike I will buy a Shimano Ultegra Di2 complete group and for the gravel bikes it probably comes down to Sensah. The wheels should come from Elitewheels.

Have there been good Black Friday deals from these manufacturers in the last years?
What do you expect this year?

If you think there will be good deals, I would hold off on ordering.
A friend also said that there will be more discounts again on brand-bikes from the beginning of next year.
What do you think?

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Advice for 2 Frames - 1 Seller
« on: September 16, 2022, 04:11:55 AM »
Good morning all,
I currently own an aging aluminum road bike "Focus Culebro" and am currently playing with the idea of building me a new road bike with China bike frame. The old one will then be used for the roller trainer. Lately, my girlfriend also enjoys road cycling, so I want to surprise her with her first own road bike.
So I need 2 frames, and would like to get them from the same supplier to save shipping costs.

Road bike of my girlfriend:
With the frame it would be ideal if this has an endurance geometry, coupled with good tire clearance, the possibility to mount mudguards and, to save costs, rim brakes (but this will probably be difficult). If there is not this combination with rim brakes I would, for cost reasons, put on mechanical disc brakes.

Since here in the forum much is written about Velobuild, I came across their Gravelframe Velobuild GF-002. The advantage I see here is that I could almost convert this to a normal road bike if she likes road cycling less than thought. You can mount bags etc making the bike suitable for commuting. A real all-rounder. Unfortunately this one only seems to be available with disc brakes though.
Any experience with this frame or better alternatives?
There is little information in the thread about this frame.
My girlfriend is 166cm tall and has a stride length of 78cm.
What size would you recommend?

Since it will be her first road bike and I do not yet know how much she will use it, I would like to build it cheap with China components.
-Sensah Empire Pro 2x11 34/50T with 11/34 cassette
or Sensah SRX Pro 1x12 44T with 10/44 cassette.
The bike is to be used 90% on the road. However, with a 12-speed cassette I can imagine that 1 chainring is enough.
How do you see it?
-Z-Race BR-005 with 160mm rotor and with Jagwire cables.
About this one hears a lot of bad. This is also the reason why I would rather have rim brakes.
Is there a proven alternative?
-Elitewheels ENT 50mm deep 28mm wide + Conti 5000
-Which BB do I need to use?

Road bike for me:
If in your opinion the GF002 frame from Velobuild is good for the above needs I would like to try to order my frame from Velobuild as well to save shipping costs.
Due to the large thread I have noticed here so far especially the frame VB-R-168D. The opinions seem to be very positive. I'm looking for a frame that isn't super heavy but focuses on aerodynamics, basically the middle between Race and Endurance with a bit of aerodynamics. I am 172cm with 78cm stride length and need a sice recommendation.
I would like to do without disc brakes, but find no good options to do so.
I would like to install a SRAM Rival Etap and Elitewheels Drive 50D, as I have heard much positive about both.

I would also like to have feedback on the plan for my bike or good alternatives.

I would be very happy about your help.
