Re: Chinese SC/AM831 Group Buy
Would it make sense, to push for a better discount if we get more, say 60 orders?

Doubtful it's anywhere near that high,  and no it doesn't make sense. Just incentivizes corner cutting and using the cheapest hardware possible (bolts, bearings etc)

Re: Chinertown logo If you can do one with just two colors, that would be perfect. The thin parts are easier to get damaged but they are super easy to replace as well.

Re: TanTan FM10 29/27.5+
Received my frame yesterday...
Finish on the frame for me is 'eh' with areas around the frame I have had to file/sand down. Largest issue I have is the dropper post not going in all the way due to a ring of CF that was left which I have almost smoothed out. I was considering ordering a hardtail from them for myself and a friend, but after this process I'll have to pass on it.

Bike looks nice.  Yeah, I'll agree that the finish might have been just a touch short of the quality other china carbon frames have arrived in.  Especially the replacement parts they sent.  In fact, I decided to keep my original modified parts on the bike until I have a reason to swap out.  The finish one side of the metal bracket is completely rough and unfinished, as if someone surfaced that edge with a grinder by hand.  I chalk it up to them trying to catch up with the backlog after the coronavirus shutdown.  Maybe others manufacturers are experiencing similar issues as well.

Anyway, couple the lackluster finish with the lack of QC, and the broken parts and all the DIY work this frame has required, and it may well be my last TanTan frame too.  Still, the proof is in the pudding, and if the carbon is strong and frame works well with the modifications, I'll still be quite pleased with the purchase.  My bikes dont stay perfect and unscratched for very long.  Only time will tell how this frame fares.

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! Just a reminder that the sizing is off on these, size L 831 is an XL SC HIGHTOWER. See the second post in this thread for more details.

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread!
I received an email from scourge about the Group Buy (GB) happening -thank you.
-I am still in with 1: size small (Unsure about a second one in size medium).

I still have a couple of doubts though, especially regarding our chances to reach the lower price and who and how this is being controlled.
-Is the 30 or 50 frame GB considered as such regardless of the frame size ordered? We're getting the 30 minimum pricing, $540, even if we just order 10.
-Are all sizes ready to produce now? (I think that when the original thread was started the frame and only in one size was still in development) yes
-What is the price if the GB does not even reach 30 frames? $540
-How are the orders being bundled (and who is doing it) so that we know the lower price was reached? Is there any need to do this? No bundling, email Eddy
-Is Eddy taking orders until a cut-off date so that he can quote based on the number of orders that we were able to reach? Or is it that, by simply telling Eddy you are part of the GB allows you to access the prices he gave us, and trust Eddy will quote accordingly? Mid April for GB, email Eddy and tell him you're part of the GB
-Is there any promise from Eddy to respect the $499 price or refund any difference if the GB reaches 50 frames? We won't hit 50 frames
-For what I have read, some people have already placed orders at $540 (before shipping, custom colour, etc.). Did Eddy ask for a payment already or is he waiting until a cut-off date? I paid in full
-How does it work regarding payment? Do we need to cover 100% upfront? Or is it a 50% (or any other %) payment to place your order and the remainder before the order is shipped? Check with Eddy, I paid in full

I guess it sounds with all these questions that I am hesitant but not really, I think $540 is still a good deal. I just would like to know more details if possible before placing an order, or other’s experience so far.

Re: Tideace FS-AM831 New Groupbuy (B) Order Hi Eddy,

I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of editing your thread title to add the "B" designation to this group buy and did the same to the first group buy but added the designation of "A".

This is just a suggestion, but to avoid confusion, perhaps the group buys could be referred to as "831-A", "831-B", "831-C", etc. And if there is a group buy for a different frame in the future, then just use the same naming scheme but with that frame's model number. Example: "P9-A", "P9-B", etc.

As always, open to suggestions/better ideas.
Thanks,
Sitar

The product description says the axle is not included unless you add it to your order: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000405521351.html

I foolishly assumed that all 148x12mm thru-axles were the same. But I learned otherwise last night.

It's not a big deal, I can wait until the frame arrives to figure this out. It's in the hands of the shippers now.

I still think you might be pleasantly surprised, but just in case, the specs are printed on the axle itself.
