Vendor Discussion & Reviews / Re: shipping times from aliexpress

Reporting here that my combined package finally arrived after having done an extended tour of the Eastern Seaboard.  all in good order, no damages nor scratches, which i find extraordinary.  i do note that the combined order was shipped from a US address, the Cainiao (Sp?) service.  i wonder if they ship some items to the address (New Jersey for those in the US) and combine and then ship from there.  normally i think this would hav arrived very quickly, less than 14 days, but i suspect the mix up was with USPS. I have read elsewhere that the shipping bags sellers use these days sometimes confuse the sorting machines that USPS uses. taking that with a grain of salt, as it is totally just a guess.

Shipping has gotten weird. Last item I ordered tracking still said it was somewhere in Utah but had just been delivered. Then when I hit the “delivery confirmed” button it updated, but said delivered to an address in a town 1 hour away.
Did your order go through USPS?

Just when I though shipping times were becoming faster....
The majority of my orders in the past month have added another stop in the USA as the package more slowly makes it to my house.

Just a month ago, tracking used to indicate that it has made it through customs and was in Los Angeles, followed by a stop in West Valley City Utah. Then the package would show up in my local town and out for delivery.

Now...

Goes through customs in Los Angeles,
followed by a stop in GreenWood IN, where it is takes 3 more days for the package to show up in;
West Valley City Utah.
Then the package shows up in my local town.

Why the extra stop these days?
Any one else seeing this new stop in their tracking of packages?

Hey there,  I a can relate to this. I placed an Aliexperess order in January 3rd 2024 which claim 14 day delivery.  The package arrived in the US around Jan 16th and since then it has been on a tour of the Eastern US. Started in NJ, then PA, then VA, now is in NC where it has stayed for the last 48hrs.  AliExpress shows the package as “unsuccessful delivery”.  I have opened a dispute since my feeling is that this package will never make it to Washington DC like it is supposed to. Will report back on what happens next.
BTW, I opened a dispute with AliExpress and their first response is to block it.  Rather than at lest hearing me out they simply block it first.  I am on round two with them asking for a refund.

Hello everyone, I finished my VB-R-168 a few days ago. I've been testing it and I have a little problem with the disc brakes, which are Force AXS. When pedaling standing up and tilting the bicycle, the pads rub slightly. I would like to know if they have happened to them.
I have also changed the derailleur hanger and put this one on it:  https://es.aliexpress.com/item/1005001741343749.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.35.7768194dtsW8Rn&gatewayAdapt=glo2esp.
Nice bike,  no ffedback on the rubbing disc, but can suggest to make sure the spokes are tight to the correct tension. some wheel flex is expected when you sprint, but should not be too much to cause rubbing.
By the way, can you share the specs on your wheels? they look grand!

For what is worth. I ordered two frames from velobuild that arrived in 5 business days to the US. Upon arrival and inspection I discovered that the bottom brackets that were promised with the order did not arrive. I asked them to honor the offer and they did so. They did us a slower form of parcel that I guess transfers to US postal service at some point. This process is slow.  From the time the tracking number was issued to the time I could actually track it on line a good 4 weeks passed. In my experience with velobuild, they have honored every request , even though the mailing and tracking of corrective items has been slow.

Hi Guys, just finished my SRAM Force AXS Etap build. Unfortunately, my right crankarm is hitting the front derailleur slightly. Did anyone else have that problem before? If so, how do I fix it? I'm using the SRAM Dub Pressfit BB. Thanks for any help!
perhaps a spacer on the drive side?

Hey folks.
Would like to hear more about internal cable routing. I am going full mechanical with my build. Would love to hear about how to deal with internally routed cable housing on derailleurs and rear break. For instance on the rear derailleur does the housing go through frame all the way back to the point the inner cable exits the frame? Is there a ferrule needed at the tip of the housing cable, before it exits the frame? The same question goes for the front derailleur, does the cable housing routes through frame from shifter all the way through the frame to the point it exits the frame?

This may be a topic that has been discussed before , a link to a previous post is also appreciated.

Thanks again community.

Hi there ,

finished my build already some time ago and now found the time to wrap it up in a Summary after approx. 4000k and 60000m of elevation gain on my vbr-168.

Beautiful build and paint scheme. Congrats. Small question , what is happening with the seatpost dustcover? Seems to overhang to the back? Not being picky, just trying to figure out what to expect on my own build. Thanks.

Frames received. Ordered a Cx-002 and a VBR-168 both in 56 to do slow builds in the spring. Reporting here that they arrived to the US in a very fast 5 business days.  Both frames look fantastic, well crafted , no blemishes that I can see.  Noticed that the seatpost have a grippy surface , I suspect in response to the numerous reports on slippage. All headset bearing included. As well as extra RD hangers.  Received one seatpost dust cover rather than two. Minor issue. Looking forward to a thrilling spring doing these builds.

Hey folks.
has anybody had to machine their caliper mounts down?  Just doing my do diliegence on all aspects.  i am reading a lot of creative solutions on the stem, have not read yet any issues with the flat maounts being uneven or needing machining.
Thanks.
This thread is so long and informative, is taking me weeks to get through it.  :D

Hi guys, thank you for all your advice, here is finally my bike mounted.
Very happy final weight:7 kg pedals.
Two exits the first two hours per setup, the second over 4 hours and a drop 1600 meters, excellent sensations.
@dalon  May I ask about your decals? they are beutiful. i am thinking of making my own "brand" for my upcoming 168 build. where did you buy it? Thanks.

You're welcome!

Updates: CX is here!  Overall, still really happy with the bike.

Issue: I'm not sure if it's headset related, but I have an issue where the stem loosens up over the course of a 2 hour ride, especially if it's a bumpy washboard gravel ride or a single-track ride.  From reading other forums about this topic, I think it may actually be the integrated handlebar stem clamp that may be the issue.

Thanks for the report. I ordered the frame in a 56 and arrived to the US lighting fast. 5 business day from ordering. Looking forward to a slow build over the next few months. Would love to hear more how you manage the loosening headset situation. I also went with the integrated handlebar/stem combo although I am already thinking maybe that was a poor choice. Regardless , all build it in and try out. The CX scene is in full swing here but I am sitting it out due to injury. Sigh!

The frame arrived, in lightning fast time!  Big thanks to Chris and team for the great communication.

My dude. Thank you for that thorough account of the build and the beautiful pictures. I have been shopping this frame to do a Cx build for the ‘23 season. Injury at practice put the season on hold but gave me time to think about doing a build with the CX002. Now is ordered and on its way. My build will be on a slow cooker through spring but I’ll do my best to post updates as I go. Thanks again.
