TanTan FM198: Anyone know anything about it? Looks like TanTan finally has some real images of the FM198 up on their page now, instead of the 3D cad images. Geometry looks pretty good - not quite spot-on current, but not old school either - and it appears to handle 2 water bottles as well. I've sent off an inquiry for pricing this morning.

Has anyone been in contact with TanTan, or has one of these already? I finished a 936 build not long ago, which is now out on loan to a friend, and I'm looking at possibly adding the 198 to the stable if everything looks good.

Any thoughts/feedback is greatly appreciated.

Re: New Lexon "spark" Ok, who told these jokers I was looking for a new frame?  ;D Guess it's "wait & see" now, and see who's going to be first.

Re: LightCarbon 918? The whole package looks great, but it's the 38mm fork offset that has me scratching my head. I've seen 42, 44, 46 & 51mm offsets, but don't remember anything running a 38mm since the early 26" MTB days. Seems odd to me.

Having said all that, it's a solid package at a good price. From Wendy/Light Carbbon's reply: "Frame LCFS918 size L UD matte finish cost US$590/set including Frame +seat clamp+ rear thru-axle+headset+an additional derailleur hanger"

And for those of us on the US west coast, it was $165 shipping, via EMS, to California.

Re: down tube protection I've been using some generic AliExpress chainstay & downtube protectors. Decently thick, but not heavy, and good adhesive backing. Best of all, ridiculously inexspensive!

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
How does the bash guard protect the frame? Doesn’t the chainring do that already?
The guard protects the chainring as well as the frame, as it protrudes just farther than the diameter of the ring, allowing you to slide over/across any obstacle that would normally strike the rings. While it won’t protect from an object kicked up by the front wheel from striking the frame, it’s intended as protection from smashing the cranks/bottom bracket area in more technical terrain - rock gardens, ledges, etc.

Also, relying on your chainring to act as a bash guard means that one day you will have a very long and frustrating walk home.

Re: LCFS 917 - 120/120 mm - MTB
They showcased the lcfs919 add a bike show, cant find the link. I remember it sand the 919 was basically a 917 with UDH hanger.
Now that is something I'd be interested in! Aside from new AXS compatibility, I've been trying to move to bikes that all run UDHs so I can simplify what spares I need to have around for them all.

Re: Chinese Carbon 29er Pic Thread. My "I can't ride because my foot is broken" build from 2022. Carbonda FM936, size Large. Full SRAM 12-speed GX mechanical groupset, Absolute Black Bash Taco with generic ISCG05 BB cup adaptor, RockShox Nude 165x40 with 3 position lockout 100mm travel, RockShox RS-1 fork 120mm travel, SRAM Rise60 carbon wheels with WTB Ranger tires, RockShox Reverb dropper 150mm, SRAM Guide Ultimate brakes with HS-2 rotors, Truvativ Black Box carbon bars, ZIPP 60mm 6º stem.

The fork has since been changed to a RockShox SID Select+ with a 3-position lockout to match the rear shock, GX mechanical has been swapped for GX AXS, and the SRAM Rise60 carbon hoops have been changed to a set of RaceFace AR27 wheels. It's my loaner/guest bike now, so the carbon wheels can go back on the shelf and the AXS lets me just "set & forget" it, so I don't have to deal with adjustments when someone borrows the bike.

Here's the 3d STL file to 3d print.  I only used it for a couple hundred miles so I can't comment on the durability.  Not that I didn't like the lockout, just been testing out a few different shocks.  The only thing additional needed is a square nut and bolt (either m4 or #10 screw).  I also used a Shimano RS900 shift housing for the first foot, since it's a lot more flexible than traditional housing, and it's a tight bend to make sure it doesn't stick too far out towards the pedals.

Do you have an stl file for that bottle mount? I’d love to run a 2nd bottle on my L frame.
