Re: 29er XC Hardtail - Boost - Modern Geometry
https://www.sp-cycle.com/spcycle-29er-carbon-mountain-bike-frame-bsa-148mm-boost-lightweight-hardtail-mtb-carbon-frame-29-p4299039.html

what do you think of this frame?
any feedback about SPcycle?

I have built bike with this frame (size M) for my girlfriend in september. I think it is the best downcountry hardtail frame at this moment - good reach numbers, good saddle position, perfect headtube angle (66.0 with 120 mm fork).

I have found only two problems:
1. Chainline must be 53 mm or wider. With smaller numbers chainring is rubbing chainstay. Checked with 32, 34 and 36-teeth chainrings on M8100 crankset (52 mm) and installed M8000-B (53.4 mm) without any problems.
2. Some calipers with 160mm rotors can not be fitted into the rear stays (M6000). But I haven't any problems with M8100 and M7100 with 180 mm.

Yesterday I have recieved the same frame for me and my friends building another two bikes with this frame. Chameleon painting is awesome.

Spcycle M016 hardtail frame builds I’ve got a couple builds to do this spring and decided on some Spcycle M016 frames. The top tube measurement seems a bit short but the stack and reach numbers look acceptable. The 67° head angle and the <440mm chainstay length should be a good mix for what I’m looking for.

Frame 1 is for me and is a 19” large in gloss pearl white. This will be replacing a Waltly titanium frame that I can’t get the seat post to stop creaking on. It’s unfortunate as I absolutely love the frame but I just can’t get past the creaking. It will be built up as a single speed and I hope to get it under 20 pounds. SRAM X0 cranks, Hulk bike rims with 27mm inner width, 350 hubs, Divine SL dropper, XTR Race brakes, and a Pike Ultimate will start the build. Depending on ride and final weight, I might for a SID Ultimate.

Frame 2 is for my daughter. It’s a 17” medium frame that’s painted matte black and matte pink. This will have a 2017 RS Revelation RLC fork set at 120mm and an 11 speed drivetrain that’s a mix of SLX and Deore. She grew out of her current 27.5 small frame so I’ll be taking most of the parts from that minus the obvious 29” wheel specific items.

I ordered the frames on February 19th and was told the frames would be painted on the 21st. So far, no more updates. To be honest though, I haven’t asked for any. I’ll update the thread as things move along.

Purchase / shipping timeline:
19 February - Ordered two painted frames
3 March - received tracking number
7 March - FedEx received the package and frames are in transit.
10 March - Frames delivered

Re: Welcome to Chinertown - Introduce Yourself! Hi all, i'm 36, MTB-ing since I can remember.
Mostly had trail bikes, from a full-sus to a current AL hardtail with 130mm. I'm building the bikes myself now for almost 10 years.
I don't know if it's the years coming to me or what, but I find myself running more XC stuff than actual agreesive trail riding.
So I am converting my bike from trail bike to a down-country XC bike (sorry to those who are allergic to bike industry making up new names to sell us more stuff). :D
The target is to make it lighter in the first step - changing the 130mm Pike to a Sid Ultimate 120mm, replacing the AL wheelset with a Elitewheels carbon ones and XC tires.
I'm also looking into a carbon frame, this year or maybe next.

Re: Carbonda FM-1306A a 69° Hardtail Hi all

First post here. Have been following for a little while to get advice and inspiration for a new build, which I finished yesterday. So thought I’d contribute with info and experience in case useful/interesting for others.

Build list:

- FM1306a XL in RAL 1015 (light ivory)
- XMCarbonspeed wheelbuild KAS930C 29er T800 on DT Swiss 350 with Sapim
- Fox step cast 32
- Formula cura brakes
- SLX cranks, rear mech, XT chain, BB
- ZRACE chainring
- Sunshine cassette 10-50
- BikeYoke Divine SL dropper
- Selcof bars
- ZTTO XC stem
- Barzo tyres
- Cheap, light Ali saddle
- Risk grips and seat clamp
- Ritchey headset
- XT pedals

Weight 9.68Kg including cage and Garmin mount.

Dealing with Wing at Carbonda was great - really helpful and quick communication. The frame and paint quality seems first-rate, can’t find any faults at all. Likewise Peter at XMCarbonspeed. And the wheels arrived with me in the UK about 10 days after I paid for them - super fast!

Most of the Ali stuff looks decent, albeit yet to ride. The Sunshine cassette seemed harder to index than it should have been. The bar plugs that came with the Risk grips broke when fitting them. Otherwise all looks good.

I replaced the top section of the headset that Carbonda supplied with a Ritchey 1,1/2 to 1,1/8, based on feedback on another thread.

I’ll chop off the rest of the steerer once I’ve dialled the position - I think the -20 degree ZTTO stem might be a bit too aggressive….

Photos hopefully attached!

Re: Epic Evo Clone
compared to carbonda fm 936 epic hardtail from sp-cycle soft as macaroni...

My previous hardtail was 2015 epic copy from Workswell. And it had very stiff BB. SP-Cycle epic is very soft, so true.

no offtopic: photo evo clone form another side :)

Re: Epic Evo Clone
hi, don't you miss a remote control?

Not at all. I've also removed remote lockout from my fork. Becasuse For me, I do not see a scenario where it is need.

Re: New xc build 100mm
A beautiful set of handlebar for sure

You should avoid Og-evkin stuff if possible. You can read my experience with these liars here: http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4344.msg48354.html#msg48354

Re: Epic Evo Clone
Yes, I had to add a spacer ring of about 2.5 millimeters under the upper bearing cap.

A visit to a local bike shop and a buck later, I got exact what I needed, thanks! I was worried I need a more proprietary headset.

The build is finally complete :D  ::) This was my worst performance when it came to barb and olive installation, I screwed up 2 times, equaling about 15mm of lost hose length on an already short hose. but the ICR plastic insert puts enough pressure to allow me to cinch some shift cable into the frame for an equal length to the hose… this is the crap I obsess over.

The final ride fits me great. Size L for a 183cm, 170 lbs man. 50mm oneup stem.

I used a 150mm OneUp dropper with an OG Wolftooth lever.
SLX 7100 brakes modded for bite point adjust
XX1 shift set
SROAD rainbow 10-50 cassette
YBN waxed 12spd chain
Generic Eagle crankset
XT 8100 pedals
780 OneUp bars with Ergon GA3 grips
Fox float DPS 45mm rear shock
SID Select+ 120 fork
Fake Roval Traverse SL wheelset (LB rims on the new 350s)
Aliexpress rainbow centerline rotors
SRAM housing for the dropper and shifter.

I think that’s it… for any future builders of this frame, feel free to hit me up with any questions, I can answer pretty much anything about this AWST frame.
