Wheeltop EDS GX will be officially launched in June 2024! Stay tuned for more updates on several new product launches!

Wheeltop EDS GX for gravel bike

Continuing the TX platform architecture, to adapt to harsher environments such as forest roads, we have optimized damping strength and introduced controllable technology for a more varied riding experience. We've retained the TX speed shift, improving chain line stability, and providing strong performance, and reliable strength to help you navigate forest and narrow roads confidently.

SHARK RIDGE

Inspired by sharks, this product is designed for forest roads and gravel terrain, featuring aggressive diagonal segment lines to enhance impact resistance.

With a hidden limit screw adjustment mechanism and external fairing, we've enhanced aerodynamic performance and impact resistance, ensuring readiness for any terrain.

Efficient space arrangement allows for hiding within the frame, with a distance of only 25.5mm between the high point and the frame, significantly increasing performance on forest and narrow roads.

Three buttons offer customizable settings (accessible via the WHEEL TOP APP), tailored to your riding preferences, reducing learning costs and adding a personalized touch to your riding equipment.

Reads like it can be paired with TX shifters.  Nice.

Thoughts on shifter forward play?  For me, It would have been nice if that movement wasn't there but not a deal breaker.

It's for flat spokes like the sapim cx ray

Ahh ok that makes sense...

Purchased the ZTTO DR190 54t ratchet hubs.  The spoke holes are double drilled shaped like a key hole.  Anyone know the purpose of that?  ZTTO says it's for better durability but I'm scratching my chin.

Qn for the wheeltop users here. Is it working with the bike computers that you are using?  There are videos showing it working with igpsport and displaying both gearing and battery life.

What about others like Garmin/wahoo/hammerhead?

Karoo2 here - doesn't see it.

Wing has just emailed through a image of the frame, the paint job looks fantastic and I can't wait to see it in the flesh!

For an idea of the timeline:

First email to Wing - 26/04
Payment made - 27/04
A couple of technical questions in emails between then.
Photos of frame sent - 11/05

I will let you all know when the frame arrives with me and ready to build!

How much was the frame??

Thank you very much for your enthusiastic and practical suggestions. I will study your suggestions and provide feedback to our factory. Let’s look forward to the new lighter, wider inside and outside, dual ratcheting system, and deeper mixed-depth road/gravel carbon wheelset.

Would love to see that in an updated x weave.

I am looking for a handlebar where the area near the clamp is round. I would like to attach my light and this is only possible on a round tube.
Any Ideas?

You'd be attaching to the steerer section where your spacers will likely go, not the handlebar.  Alternatively there are handlebar mounts for lights.

That looks like the wrong top cap frankly. They must have sent you the top cap of another handlebar. I lave a Lexon Vero here and although it created also issues (serious ones), the top cap is fine for it.

Ya I wish that were the case so I could go back to them but it matches their marketing material as well as product photos on their listing.  100% crappy forming on mold for this area.

Did a double take on the listing.  If you zoom in, it's not great on their marketing as well... https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/Sa8d74c26ab6943a3af0cdc7d28a56e60Y.jpg_640x640Q90.jpg

Alright that photo of the gap was bothering me.  I took a construction knife to the top cap area and cut/chiseled/scrapped off some material.  Much better.

Any updates?  These look nice. Trying to find a narrow 36 cockpit and it’s hard to find my needed stem length of 120mm. Just looking for a 1-piece that isn’t a noodle and comes in narrow/long sizes.

So far so good.  Had to use carbon paste on both sides of the spacer insert and torque it up to 7-8nm to stop it from moving.  Might be an issue with my fork, I seem to always have this problem.

Rigid under high load so has an assured feel when putting down the watts.  Looks great also.  Top cap is unfortunate lol.  I'm thinking about shaving down some material myself to make it sit better.  The provided aluminum bike mount is great, really firm and has several optional attachments.

Would I recommend this?  Yes and no, the only problem being the top cap, if you can overlook that, it's a solid handlebar.

Welp, I finally got around to installing it but front derailluer's adjustment screw doesn't work screw hole has its threads stripped....  Sigh.  Since I bought it off AliExpress, the options given to me where to ship it back for repair or replacement and they'll only cover $20 for the shipping.  What a pain.  I think I'll just retap it myself with larger pitch threads and grub screw to match.

I've retapped the hole and went up to an M5 size.  Not totally satisfied with my job.  The Aluminum they've used is really soft which was somewhat disappointing and stainless steel grub screws will just eat it up.  Another worry is galvanic corrosion... oh well, we'll see how it holds up.  I might do a thread insert instead to eliminate my worry of it stripping again from use.  That said, I've dialed it in and given it a quick ride -  super happy with the shifting and performance of everything.  So far so good.

(My EDS OX rear derailleurs all adjusted very quickly.)
During this process, I gradually adjusted the body-angle screw until I found the sweet spot on all the cassette cogs in both the small and large front rings.

Thumbs up for the Wheeltop EDS TX Disc.

Have you attempted to pair the TX shifters with the OX derailleur?

Would be amazing if they made their ecosystem flexible in pairings.
