Sweet! I'm glad everything worked out as planned. And $200 for two shipped is a bargain. Keep us updated on the rims as you use them more.

Awesome! Keep us posted. I wouldn't mind putting some on the SS.

They have decent feedback and the price is awesome. I would probably give them a shot. Another option is to spend $240 and get 2 from Hulk sports. That way you have a back up.

Very good news!
Candy just removed all the doubts we may have had recently about Workswell  :)

x2

I have had great luck with them after getting two frames and two forks. But some of the recent questions on here had me a bit worried about ordering another from them for my daughter. Looks like they are trying to do what's right.

Numbers on a table are one thing, but the actual riding position, when shocks are set up properly, is very different. They share similar geometry, but ride nothing alike.

I don't disagree with the fact that they could ride completely different. But with new frames straight from china, geo numbers is all we have to go on. But out of curiosity, have you ridden all 3? If not, it's not a fair judgement to say that they ride nothing alike.

I finally got the rubbers installed and put on 12 miles last night.

how stiff do you think the frame is compared to others you have ridden?

Finally, is the paint your design, or Workswell's, and how do you rate the quality?

The frame is still holding up great and I put more miles on it over the winter. I'm still pleased with it but I would like to add a suspension fork to it eventually. As it sits, it's pretty much a winter / mud season bike. So with that, it's plenty stiff for what I've done with it and I have no complaints in that regard.

The paint is actually just vinyl decals that I made up. Otherwise the matte UD finish is fine and so isn't the rest of the quality.

If this frame ticks all the boxes, I say go for it. I would have no hesitation about getting another one. Keep us posted on your build.

Definitely keep us posted on the lock up issue.

As for torque wrenches, it's good to get them calibrated when you first get them if they haven't been at the factory. If you can get them checked periodically, that's good too. If they stay in a case and aren't abused, once every few years is fine. I use them almost everyday so mine are checked every 6 months but that is quite excessive for most. Dropping them on concrete, say off of a toolbox, voids the calibration too. That's just a PSA about torque wrenches.

It looks like it's roughly $495 shipped to the US. The CS measurement appears to be a bit long at 440mm. I have the Workswell / Sobato 29+ and that is 440 for 29+ or 425 for 29/27.5+ (it has two options). I know you don't want the elevated stay, I was just giving a reference.

One week is awesome!

What do you mean by locked? Once the dummy shock is removed, it should go through its travel pretty easily.

That does suck! Looks like I'll be giving mine a once over tonight.

I'll play. The 5010.2 is mine and I'm currently waiting on the new crop of Bontrager 27.5x2.55 tires to become available. The Tallboy 3 is my wife's bike. Luckily I am only an inch taller than her so we both ride large framed bikes. It's a win win. 8)

The rims on the 5010 are from Nextie which I got in the fall of 2013, before I knew about Peter.
The rims on the TB are from Peter which he had painted to match the turquoise in the frame. The CX-Ray spokes came from him too.
Super happy with both sets of rims.

Sorry for the extra large pictures...

The On One Space Chicken definitely looks fun.

I haven't built either but I do have 2 Workswell frames that I've been happy with.

What size tire do you plan on using? The wider the tire, the wider the rim. Also, if you like leaning the bike to turn in high speed corners, you will want to go wider than normal. Somewhere between 23 and 30 would suffice but I would lean towards 26 or 27 if it's mostly XC like you mentioned.

For comparison, here is what I run

2.35 Bontrager XR4 tires - 29mm inner width rims - SC 5010.2 - ride somewhat aggressive and lean as much as my ability allows - very happy with width and tire choice

2.2 Bontrager XR2 tires - 23mm inner width - WW 062 chiner HT Singlespeed - ride it playfully but strictly XC type of riding - happy, would like wider but don't want to add weight or pay for carbon so 23mm works.

I will go with the rest of the group and recommend doing the internal cables first. Then the BB. After that, it all depends on what job you feel like doing next. One particular job doesn't rely on another being done first. Except for the chain sizing. That is definitely done last.

Can you guys please stop saying the word "press"?

It's a drop-in headset. You don't need a press. You need fingers. That's it.

You're conveying the (wrong) idea that this frame takes a press-in headset. It doesn't. Stop.

Stop.
Don't get all worked up. This is a friendly forum where things get typed wrong sometimes.  ;D

Luke.Moore was asking for help so he probably didn't realize that. lRaphl took care of that and mentioned that they were drop in bearings. Carbonazza, well he probably just had one to many bong hits for breakfast.... LOL. Or realistically, was just helping with the order of things without over analyzing the headset type.
