Sounds awesome! I’ve had no issues with my Chinese carbon rims or handlebars. I’d highly suggest ordering from Peter. He’s got great customer service.

Interesting. Not sure why they wouldn’t respond then. I work directly with some factories overseas for my job and communication with them can be hit or miss. It seems like there is less urgency to respond in a timely manor. Could just be a cultural difference. Are you saying that they haven’t responded to emails since they sent the images and tracking?

When did you contact them first? We’re right around Chinese New Year, so there’s a good chance that they are on vacation.

Keep me posted if you find something that works. Canyon has the aeroad disk and it looks pretty much ideal. Not sure if it can fit a 28mm tire though. If you find something affordable let me know. Otherwise I guess it’s just a waiting game for a used one!

I’ll be sure to watch for that when I get around to my upgrade. I might consult with the LBS to see what they recommend for chain length so I’m not having to go out and purchase a new chain.

Carbonazza, I know this thread is pretty old, but I’m considering upgrading my 036 to a GX Eagle groupset this winter. Has your brother had any weird issues with the drivetrain? Or has it been performing well? I’m concerned about crankset selection, but since I have a GXP BB right now it would seem obvious to select the GXP crankset. Thanks!

Well... Since I only own one Chiner it definitely has an unfair advantage! My (favorite) CS-036 has put up with a lot of abuse this past year! I'm looking forward to upgrading to GX 1x12 to keep it going this winter!

That paint job is super slick! I'm excited to see where this build goes. Was it around the same price as your first frame?

I have t700 on my specialized bike and have no complaints with rigidity. If you're concerned you could use the more dense carbon, but I'd make sure it doesn't add too much weight or cost.

I think the difference you can expect isn't in the finish of the frame, but more of the customer care. Peter has an excellent reputation on this site and he stands behind his products really well. If you have an issue you usually can reach out to him and have it fixed. The other companies you're looking at could be the same way, but you'd be the first one to test those waters. I'd reach out to all the companies, get quotes and get a feel for how they treat you. Are they quick to respond to emails? Do they offer you a good warranty?

Not to derail this thread, but I use a Suunto Spartan Sport HR to pair with my speed and cadence sensor. It's gps enabled so I don't need to take my phone and it connects pretty seamlessly to Strava. I've had some issues with my sensor dropping during the ride, but the GPS always keeps track accurately for Strava. I like this setup because I can use the watch for other stuff like running, trekking and mountain biking.

Thanks for posting this. I was able to get a set of cable cutters for a reasonable price!

Looks really good! I'm really curious how this frame compares to the 036.
Definitely an upgrade in terms of linkage. The geometry is very different, two different beasts.

When you finish your build and feel like you know the bike, I'd be really interested in a thread comparing them. Not only the geometry, but ride quality too!

Your shock situation is certainly an odd one.. I'm wondering if one of the bolts is seized? I'm curious to hear how you fix that issue. In terms of the tire I ran a tire backwards for a few months and I honestly didn't notice a huge difference. You might wear the tread down faster if the treads are angled towards the intended direction of travel though. I'd ride it a bit and if you get bored one day then flip it around. I've found resealing my tires to be a breeze once they're ridden for a bit.
