Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! We don't know enough about the frame to determine that yet.

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! NGL the contact on the downtube has me worried a bit, especially because I'm ordering a small (medium) as well. If they couldn't get arguably one of the most important parts of the frame right how can we expect the rest to be decent?

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! I'd probably be OK to pay the paypal fee - if you dont and use gifts and not g&s you don't get buyer protection.

Re: Ican S3 XC Frame Is it literally just the carbonda but with a beefier/not flex stay rear end?

Re: Best "Downcountry" 120ish-mm Frame for Long Climbs and Rough Downhills
I thought the FM936 would only accept a 165X42.5 shock which is 115 mm of travel?

Surveying the thread says that some users are OK with 42.5 and it rubs for others at bottom out. From what I recall x40 and the imperial x38 are more common/reliable/recommended by the manufacturer

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread!
Ordered a large from Eddy.  Now to look into a shock.

If you don't want to spend much, 210x55 float DPS's are just about the best price to performance out there on the used market for a totally acceptable rear shock. Not sure what tune you want (I forget what the Hightower comes with - assuming that's close enough) but there's probably some tunes to avoid. Commonly posted for like 200 bucks Canadian out here in BC.

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! Pathetic. Everyone who has ordered a small should refund their frame unless they get a cup included.

The Acros headset won't work if the bike uses an IS headset, which from the photo it does.

Re: Chinese Santa Cruz/AM831 You'll install it like any other crown race. It would be the equivalent of running a 166mm fork. It's up to you to decide if that's too much.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts Feed a buddy a few beers to get the front triangle apart? Pay a shop to disassemble it?

All normal warranty stuff here lol. To me it seems like Carbonda is trying to act like a legit bike brand more than anything.

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! I'd give it a whirl first, although if it's been used a bit before being taken off, I'd just get the service done as it'll be way better either way.

If you want, you can compare the Rockshox tunes between stumpy evo and the hightower, as Rockshox uses letter codes between base tunes that'll help differentiate them. You'll have to do some research and see what each bike is. It'll look something like M/M or L/M or so for each shock.
