Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread!
Ahhh OK. So nobody has received it yet; anyway better that they solve the problem rather than send defective frames.  I'm placing my order now and they promise mid July shipping, that it is not so bad if it will be real  :-X .
About the bike... I have an old full suspended specialized 26" and this will be a big step ahead for sure; before falling in love with this frame my idea was to build an hardcore hardtail; the santa china is gonna be miles ahead in downhill performance, but what about uphill? I'm planning to keep the total weight around 13 kg that it isn't terrible, but the effect of the modern geometry plus possible pedaling bobbing I'll see on the field .
Anybody can recommend a rear shock with proper total lockout?

Given the position of the shock, a remote actuated shock would be really cool for a build like you're describing. Both Rockshox and Fox versions that are actuated via remote have a very solid platform.

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! rather than doing a hack job at installing a star nut, press fit BB, or headset, just pay a little bit of money to your LBS. Job done with proper tools, no problem. Do almost everything else yourself.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! There's really nothing to install with integrated headsets. I'm sure the BB won't come installed (or wont even come with a BB - why would it? They have no clue what cranks you're going to run).

Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame
There is no paint on the frame unless you order it painted, but epoxi don’t “need” paint. It is only for looks.

Eh, more than likely they use a cheaper kind of epoxy that without a UV resistant clear coat at a minimum, will yellow/degrade over time. Most frames will ship either gloss or matte clear over raw but you can ask the vendor.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Received my frame today. Quite a bit of shipping damage on the box but the frame seems unscathed.

I ended up purchasing the frame from Topfire, not Haidelai like most of you. I thought they'd be a bit faster after talking to someone else on another forum and their own statements - I was wrong.

Furthermore, they shipped the frame without anything in the way of spacers where the shock was meant to be - the frame was free to slam in to itself over and over on the way here - fortunately doesn't show.

They also sent literally no hardware other than what I requested (and was charged for) specifically - a rear axle and hanger. I guess I'll need to source everything else from a SC dealer and hope it fits?  The other two full sus bikes I've purchased (from different Chinese manufacturers) at least had like... some hardware...

I also asked for a RAW frame, unpainted - which they agreed initially.  They informed me when it was ready to ship (like 9 months later) that they weren't going to do that - it was coming matte black whether I like it or not.

Between this and their poor organization (they sent a message saying I had to pay more for shipping if I wanted a rush shipment and no duties, and then realized they were looking at the wrong country) I'd HIGHLY recommend avoiding them and going with Haideli. I know I should have. I sure hope that I never have any further issues with this, I think I'd be completely on my own.

Edit: Can someone else measure the thread pitch and length of the included axle? I didn't actually get one despite paying for one. Stick with Eddie guys =/

How is everyone installing their headset?   The bearings are loose in my frame. Last carbon bike I built had aluminum cups the bearings sat in and I’ve ordered a ZTTO headset that has them.

Seeing as its an IS headset and not a ZS/EC, I'm going to place the bearing in the frame and be done with it.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
Well,

Fortunately/Unfortunately I will not be building the frame. I have accepted a job in the bike industry with bike rebate so I'm selling my frames and the components I bought with it.

I made a post in the classfied to not spam here. It's a small if you're interessed

I've had access to staff purchase programs for many years now from a handful of brands, Chiners are still a fun side hobby for me though. I'd recommend making sure you have the next bike secure before you get rid of your frame!

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! This bike doesn't line up perfectly with Santa Cruz bikes, so it will require modification either way as the Tailored ridewrap kits are very tight fitting
