Re: LCFS948 - a new enduro from Light Carbon I know people have called out the scor 4060 as a possible clone but doesn't Santa Cruz have a bike just like this too?  I think the mega tower looks identical

You might look to book an appointment to get your glasses checked, Jeff.

That was the issue.  After my visit I noticed the linkage was different.   ;)  That tucked shock and rear triangle had me fooled.

Re: Lewis Bike (Trickstuff 2 & 4 piston clones)
XT F&R set is 574g at ~$225-250
LV2 F&R set is 413g at $265

So ~30% lighter at 10% higher cost.  Seems promising if they can actually perform. And XT/XTR is a high bar to reach in terms of braking performance and, more importantly, reliability.

I have XT on all my bikes and love them. But I was recently toying with the idea of XTR or maybe even TS Piccolas (for no logical reason other than I want light and high performance) so these were compelling.

Agree with everything. It is just hard to put down that much on untested equipment.  I had m9100's but switched back to 8100's due to the small pad on the 9100's. There is a definite loss of performance going to the smaller pad on the 9100's.  I like that the LV2's seem to use a bigger more XT like pad.

Does anyone know if there is a US supplier or will they ship direct?  I messaged them but no response yet.

Re: What lube?
On a related note, what do people recommend for removing the factory grease? I'm interested in finding the least nasty stuff that will do the job.

Hands down best option is buy an ultrasonic cleaner.  If you get a big enough one you can put cassettes and chainrings in there too.  Even jockey wheels and stuff if you are deep cleaning.

Re: LightCarbon 918?
Jeff I see you installed the suntour edge lor , how is it ? Any trouble with the bashing kit?
Thx

Sorry for the late reply.  No I have had no issues with the bushings or anything really.  The shock is a bit noisier than a fox but I have gotten used to it and only ever noticed when just plodding along and thinking about it.

Re: Zrace m1 x4 idraulic disk brakes For those that have these.  How are you bleeding them.  I have the 2piston version and I can get an “ok” bleed but I can never get them to feel great.  I actually just went back to XT 8100s. But I would love to get these dialed for another build.

Re: Are Shimano groupsets from Aliexpress vendors legit? Seems too good to be true yes they are legit.  i am on my 6th or 7th XT groupset.  bought a Cues 11spd set for a commuter bike and loads of cassettes and other things.   I will say that chains can be a bit sketchy.  also make sure to look that you are getting or realize if you are not getting shimano cassettes and chains.  many times there will be one price with a legit shimano cassette and then another price with e sunrace or ZTTO cassette.  the non-shimano options are not bad but just be aware of it.

Re: LCFS 917 - 120/120 mm - MTB
Jeff, any lesson learn on headset cable routing? I will receive my frame (spcycle) in a few weeks and I have to route through the headset as well

I prefer to go opposite side so right side controls go in left side of headset.  that worked for me but no promises there.   the other thing is i tool a round file to the inside of my headset pieces where the cables go in and made sure there was nothing sharp and all the edges were nice and rounded off and smooth.   this lets them slid a bit and keeps them from getting cut up.

So when do you think this frame will be avaible?

They are available to order now if you ask.  I placed an order about 2 weeks ago.  Was told mid Jan they would ship

Re: LightCarbon 918?
Undecided between this and the 917 (aka 919).  I like the idea of two bottle cages.   I want to use parts from a donor bike and hoping to transfer across.
Do you think this can run a 130mm fork and a 120mm shock?
Also will a SRAM NX X Sync ring with 30T boost 3mm offset work with this BB (sorry I am noob with this)

the fork will be fine, the shock needs to be the correct length and stroke, so most likely not.  and the crank will be fine.  you may need a new BB depending on what your donor bike had for BB shell.
