29er / Re: Need 29er bike build advice

I got my 062 from Sobatostore on eBay. I'm definitely happy with it. I have posted some pictures and comments in the 062 thread.

As for the wheels, I would go this route. Peter is now selling on eBay and here is a link to some wheels from him. I just built up a similar wheel set for my wife's Tallboy3. I used Hope hubs on her build though. The DT 350 hubs are bullet proof and very cost effective. The only warning though is the low 18 points of engagement. But for $100, you can get the 54 point upgrade which makes them cheaper and have better POE than the 240s hubs.

WW-062 = Specialized Stumpjumper carbon hardtail
Find one of those to demo and you'll know what the 062 rides like.

Many of these bikes copy the geometry of the Scott Scale, which my wife has and has been riding and racing for years now. She rode the 041 whose geometry is a number-by-number copy, and found it both harsher and slower than the Scale. Copying the geometry doesn't copy the ride, so I wouldn't project that a test ride of the Stumpy HT would translate directly to the Chiner copy. That doesn't mean the Chiner's a bad bike, but it might set you up for some disappointment if you expect a 1-to-1 comparison.

Most of those frames are designs that have been around for a while, and have proven to be reliable, so should be a safe bet.

True, the frames do give a different ride, but the geometry is still the same. I have the WW-062 and my buddy has a SJ, I was trying to get him to ditch the super harsh aluminum frame and go for the cheap carbon version so we were swapping back and forth on a ride one day. He ended up getting a 2016 SJ FSR Carbon instead. I can say that this frame is MUCH more compliant than the SJ aluminum frame. Maybe that is good or maybe it's bad because the frame is cheaply made, the verdict is still out on that one. However, the OP is worried about the geometry not being quite what he wants so this will help him decide. And coming from an older aluminum frame, I'm pretty sure it should feel a little better than what he is used to.

Very nice! I saw those pictures on his FB post and it got me thinking about some wheels for my wife's Tallboy for the winter months.

Does anyone now if this hole should be there? Look at the attached picture.

Did you decide on a frame?

Don't forget to check the axle to crown measurement they used to get the HA. Workswell uses a measurement of 497 to attain 71 degree HA. My 100mm RS Sid is roughly 506mm making it 70.5. Running a 120mm fork will put you at 69.5 which isn't too bad. Not really slack but not old school XC steep either. You mention running a 80mm fork for the time being. Just go for it. It may not be ideal but it will still be much better than any XC hardtail from 10 years ago. And when the budget allows, go for 120mm.

5'11" and I'm on a 18.5" frame. Seat is centered on a 20mm setback post and I have a 60mm stem with 720mm wide bars. I'm very pleased with the fit as it is.

Peter will treat you right. It's hard to be patient though.

If you like green, this fork is a pretty sweet bargain.

Hello Guys,

I'm new here and would like to order a workswell WCB-M-062 or the new version. But I have a few question about the frame.
At the site of workswell there are 2 frames:
New version:
http://www.workswellbikes.com/web/view/223.html
Old version:
http://www.workswellbikes.com/web/view/149.html

Are there experiences with the new frame? Can I order it without the chance of early braking? Which frame do you recommend?

I'm a bit afraid if the frame will go well with my weight of approximately 200 pounds. I will use it as a beachracer so it won't be used in heavy environments.

Greetings, Gert-Jan

I would go with the 062 over the 096 mainly because of the shorter chainstays. But if you're riding the beach most of the time, I would probably get the the 078 Plus bike over the others. Geometry will be similar to the 062 if you use normal 29" size tires but you have the option of running some Plus tired if the need arises.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: What kind of BB?
« on: August 11, 2016, 01:32:50 PM »
Yup, I got it.  ;D
I do have a new SRAM crank arm set that I was thinking of getting rid of as I found some different ones for the last build. You would still need to get a GXP Bottom bracket and the chain ring of your choice though. Also, I'm not sure if shipping it to Norway would make it impractical but let me know if you're interested and we can work out the financial side of it.

Same here. 4 bikes between my wife and I and all have a standard BSA bottom bracket setup running SRAM GXP cranks. On that note, are you looking for aluminum cranks or carbon?

No experience with this particular frame but I have 2 others from WW and I would definitely get another if they had what I wanted. I say go for it.

hello Alcaid

I'm interested in making a new build with a FS 27.5 frame, and this one .... looks to be a good option for me

it looks like the Specialized Camber....

the only "detail" that blocks me is the BB, only BB92 is available, and that means using a Shimano BBraket which I would avoid - I real prefer SRAM ones
SRAM GXP uses 22mm on one side and 24mm on the other side, so .... the bb92 does not fit :-(

is there someone here who would have a solution to mount a SRAM BB on a frame with a BB92?

thank you in advance

Put "gxp bb92" into your favorite search engine and you will get what you need. SRAM makes a BB92 GXP bottom bracket.

After The Ride / Re: Chinertown Strava Group?
« on: August 04, 2016, 02:15:29 PM »
I just joined yesterday as well. Not riding much until I'm done with my 036 build. I haven't used Strava before, but it looks like some of you guys put on some serious miles!!

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. It is cool to see where everyone else rides though.
