I've had good luck with the generic clear helicopter tape for quick dirty protection.

If you want a fitted kit to really wrap a frame and make it pretty, I would spend real money for a kit that has been meticulously designed for your frame. The difference between a frame specific wrap kit and a generic one is huge.
+1 for buying Helicopter tape, trimming it to size and shape then using sprayed water and hair dryer to position it. I've got some matt stuff on a Canyon since 2012 and its still great.
I get mine from from in-country sellers through Ebay as they often say how thick the tape is (and I can be impatient).

For genuine Shimano chains visit your local shop. For bootleg Shimano chains go for Aliexpress.
The only chain I've ever snapped was a bootleg Shimano Ultegra. Use with caution
YMMV etc

Oh and I just remembered that there are also plugs available for almost any sized frame bolt hole https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002952659495.html

I went for the aluminium screw option on my GF-002. like these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004389231856.html
A little dab of grease on the threads just in case and they're done.
They weight next to nothing and dont come out when the bike gets washed. Recommended :-)

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Velobuild GF-002

@hazzer19 and others: would you expect spacers also being needed for a 46/30 chainring combo on this frame? Interestingly, velobuild said that this setup would need a longer front derailleur (?)
I know this response is not directly answering the question but thought I'd add it in case its useful to someone..
I used 48-33 and it works at the bottom limit of the standard derailleur hanger.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: ACR stem alternatives
« on: March 24, 2022, 07:26:01 AM »
Thanks for replying. I had found the non series ACR stem but its out of stock in 80mm everywhere, including those sites you shared. Thats why I started thinking about whether to swap it out for something else. Although its not a "chiner" build problem I thought that it was worth asking the forum as there are a lot of people used to getting around build challenges.

I've been running an 80mm on my existing Canyon 54cm and its been ok. Not as stable as the 100mm I was running I accept, but certainly good enough. Its certainly been a reasonable trade off for the extra comfort that it brings  :)

Component Deals & Selection / ACR stem alternatives
« on: March 23, 2022, 08:00:53 AM »
Whilst building up a VBR 086 I had the chance to get a Orro Venturi which has waylaid me for a mo.. .
The Venturi uses ACR stem and came with 100mm which I need to switch out to 80mm to achieve my fit. Sadly an ACR in 80mm appears to be as common as unicorn poop in Europe for he foreseeable future.
Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative stems that might be a good swap out whilst maintaining the routing and that clean look?
Cheers!
