I'm trying to decide on one of these frames, but I can't see the huge difference in them compared to my current bike.
What is each of these frames a clone of? I think the 177 is the SL7? Is the 168 it's own frame?

If you were in my boat, which way did you lean?

The only other issue is I currently run a 140mm stem, and all of the stems offered on Velobuild are only 120mm. I don’t think going up a size is the answer in my case…

I bulid up the VB-R-168 in 58
188 cm with 92 inseam
which is quite long due to the curved handlebar (440/120), thinking about switching to a straight one,
Bike rides great, mounting without any problems
but next time i would go with the 177 because of the seatpost,
the aero seatpost from the 168 is only availabe with 20mm offset, and till know i haven't found any other seatpost fitting which limits your flexibiltity in bikefitting
Quality/price relation is definitly a buy

The seatpost might be enough to sway me! I currently have a straight post and would likely need a straight post on this bike as well.

the 168 is a copy of the Sl7, the 177 looks more it's own frame

They look pretty close in numbers, the 177 should be an Addict copy
168 - 177
Reach 388 392
Stack 535 536
Top Tube (effective) 541 550
Seat Tube C-T 475 490
Head Angle 73 72.5
Seat Angle 74 73.6

Here you have all the comparison, the 177 is not really close to the addict

I searched this as well, it seems the 177 is it's own animal!

seat tube is the main difference with the vb 168; it is 14mm longer
-
Have you taken handlebar reach into the equation? It looks like your current bars have shorter reach compared to Velobuild bars, so that might give you 10-15mm in the right direction.
-
I compared them to the same bars that velobuild offers for the 177 and they say they are the same, not sure if that is the case, unless someone has real life measurements to compare them to!

it is very similar to scott addict rc ultimate 2021

I decided on the 168 with the reasoning that aero gains are probably more significant than a few hundred grams. Both look like a great choice, I'm waiting for my 168 to arrive hopefully this week.

Correct. This is confirmed by Chris at VB.
The 177 is their climbing frame
