Title: My new LCFS958 - StefanB
Post by: StefanB on March 07, 2022, 03:26:50 AM
For two years ago I built a LCFS958 to replace my Merida ONE-TWENTY 800 trailbike. I  have been very happy with my LCFS958.

Last year I built myself a LCFS947 endurobike and this bike had other qualities. More stable descending and better on technical climbs. But it is heavier and fells slower.

The LCFS frame is from 2019 and reach has increased on all bikes the last years. My LCFS958 was in size L with 140 mm fork and a reach of 470 mm. If i build a new one in size XL and 150 mm fork it  will be slacker and with a reach of 500 mm.

So I sold my old LCFS958, ordered a new frame, painted, and built my new bike. I have to adjust the brakes and gears, maybe shorten the chain But a first test-ride is close.

Nice bikes! Did you paint them yourself?

Thanks. I ordered the frame painted. I have painted one frame and the result looked good but it was so sensitive.

So after that I have ordered my frames painted.

Another beautiful build, StefanB! I'm envious that you get to build so many nice bikes!

Now I have ridden my new descending and I am starting to get a feel for how it rides. My favorite bike the last year has been the LCFS947. A stable bike descending, great on technical climbs.

I think that I have a new favorite though. My new LCFS958 in size XL with 150 mm fork replaced my old LCFS958 in size L with 140 mm fork. The longer reach and with the new fork, slacker angle makes a bike that feels as stable as the LCFS947, it climbs as well  but the response pedaling is better. When I compare my rides on my Garmin I can see that I am about 1 km/h faster on the total ride on my new LCFS958 than on the LCFS947.

I will continue swithing between the bikes and see if my new favorite remains the same.

And I am almost finished with my AM831..........

So far eight. 2*LCFS911, 2*LCFS958, 1*LCFS917, 1*LCFS713, 1*LCFS947 and soon finished with my AM831 :-)

Really thinking a 958 might be my next build, any issues with the frame?

Impressive. You sure must be one of the most experienced Chinese frame users. Why? For your family and friends or do you sell them?

I have built them mainly for myself and my family.

I first built a LCFS958 size L for myself and a LCFS911 size S for my wife. However the LCFS911 felt a bit small for her so I built a new one, size M for her and I gave the size S to my son.

My sun is growing so I upgraded my wife with a LCFS713  and we gave the LCFS911 size M to my son, and sold the size S.

Last year a built a LCFS947 size L for myself. I really liked the bike and I like the long reach That why I sold it and built a new LCFS958, in size XL.

The LCFS 917 i just built for fun and I never tried it, I just sold it.

The AM831 will be exciting to ride. I have decided that I will keep 2 bikes for myself and sell 1. This will be a hard choice to make because I really love both the LCFS958 and the LCFS947, can the AM831 be better than any of them......

You've had a lot of light carbon frames? Any issues with them?

This frame has a flex pivot, and yet I do not see where the flex is supposed to come from.  This is usually the middle of the seat stay, but all of the says are too thick.

question for those that have this frame.  I also have it and I am curious if you are running any sort of spacer on the trunnion side of the shock mount.  my frame is about 3mm wider than the shocks 54mm width.  currently I just flex the frame in to make up that gap.  seems to work find and result in a centered shock.  does anyone else have this issue and if so have you run spacers in there?  please let me know your experiences.  tyia
