Re: Welcome to Chinertown - Introduce Yourself! Hi,

I'm JJ from France. I practice all mountain and light enduro in the Alps around me.

In the past years I've built a few wheelsets with Chinese carbon rims and also hubs. Pretty happy with them, good stuff. I'm now planning to build a full 29er AM rig based on Chinese frame, rims and hubs, if not more. In fact I already bought an FS831 frame (the Chinese Hightower) before noticing there was a group-buy thread here (damn, missed it). Waiting for it to arrive.

Also would this frame fit a coil?

I believe this was answered. The Santa Cruz does not fit a coil shock, so this frame most likely does not either. Check https://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en-US/bikes/hightower#technical-support

This is out of control. I thought this thread was about the frame, and shipping etc. Wow. Admin?
What posts in this thread are not about the frame? Haven't seen that many...

I used nothing. They fed right thru with no issues.

In fact I tried that too, and it worked! Feeding back to front.

Did you test your handlebar height? only one spacer under the stem is fine for you? I feel like adding approx 4 cm

Look at this, guys :

Has anyone come up with a fender or some type of protection for the bottom linkage and back of the shock? It's all right in the path of the tire and I can't imagine it all holding up that well to very many days of mud or rain...

The original SC solution doesn't look that efficient either...

I was also thinking about the "problem" of the rear mechanism fender...any ideas are welcome (3d printing?) or maybe just a wrap of rubber or similar.

Here is a "wrap of rubber" solution:

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
I am looking at a 42mm offset fork and 3mm crown race spacer.  I think the lower offset should balance out the spacer and 170mm up front might be viable.

Decreasing the offset, on the contrary, rises the front, so slackens the bike!

If you want to compensate a longer fork length, you would want to increase the offset.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Here's my rig, just finished. Weighs 12.2 kg, including pedals and sealant!
210 mm dropper post (no issues with the insertion in the seat tube).
Can't ride it yet because of my broken wrist :(

the bike is looking really good proportion wise :) does the pike fits without the crown race spacer ?

Yep, 2 mm clear of the downtube.
