Component Deals & Selection / Re: Replacement Rim - HR930C

Dang!

I think I'll just go with a Light Bicycle rim and new spokes.  Will reuse the hub as it's a fairy new DT350.

I almost ordered a brand new set from Light Bicycle with Onyx Vesper hubs. But it doesn't really make sense to spend that type of money for wheels for an 'old' non-boost bike. I'll save thar private for whatever bike I upgrade to this year.

Component Deals & Selection / Replacement Rim - HR930C

I could use some help finding a replacement rim for a wheelset I bought in 2014 from Peter @ XMIPLAY, which is not defunct.

It was called the 'HR930C' and it was a 29" rim, 30mm outer width, 25mm inner width, 23.5mm deep, and hookless.

I finally trashed one today after 8 years and 16k+ miles.  I would like to replace it with one with the same ERD so I'm not on the hook for $75+ in spokes.

I checked XM Carbon Speed, but I don't know if that's a zombie site or not anymore and it seems they don't carry this rim anymore anyway.

Thanks in advance for any help/links.

Did you visit Carbonda website ever?
https://www.carbonda.com/mountain/full-suspension/130.html

Sorry. I was under the impression from earlier discussion that the bar shown wasn't included (or possible to get) with this frame. It appears I was mistaken.  Thank you.  I would like to run this bar/headset with the Fm936 frame if possible.

Assembly finished, first ride is waiting for better weather  ;D

10,8kg in XL Size

Remarks:
Magura 4 piston caliper with 180mm Rotor in the rear requires filing action at the caliper otherwise it will not fit
Rear axle is too long as many others already mentioned, seems to be systematic problem
Lower Bolt for shock mounting is too short, shock does not move any longer when screw is tightened

I'm sorry to ask again if you have answered this already, but what handlebar and spacers do you have that allow for internal routing?

It's a copy of Gemini Propus combo, with 60mm stem and 740mm handlebar.

Do you have perhaps a link to the bar you bought? It helps me to cut through the sea of AliExpress listings.

They just sent the picture of my 909 painted.

Looks great.

Did you opt for the handlebar/stem combo it's shown with on their site (the one that allows internal cable routing)?

So you know if this frame can be run 120mm front/rear like the FM936.

Yep, this. I'm from Germany like R2, and the price is 897€ with German VAT.

Interesting.  I was using a computer owned by a German company and our internet traffic might present as such. I'll use my home computer (US) tonight and see what happens. Hopefully that gets me out of VAT?

Definitely should do that!
Lead time on them is 12-15 months, R2-Bike says 4-8 months and Bike Components up to 7 months. I think Bike Components also gets them from time to time, so worth checking if they have some in stock.

I just went to r2-bike and something funny is going on with the pricing. I put a set of Piccolo HD and two Dachle UL 180mm rotors in my cart. Then when I went to check out, the price went from 754 euro for the set to 897 euro. And the rotors went from 105 to 125.  I can't get the prices to reset on that device. The lower prices are shown when I go to another computer.   ::)

that's a hell of a nice build! Very light as well. I wonder if you can share the part list with weights. Must have cost a fortune...
when did you order the Piccola? must be ages ago...

also I wonder how @Vipassana got his/her Piccola...

Ah, perhaps I was misleading. I have not built the bike yet.  Still in the planning (and saving) stage.  That is nearly the exact build I want to build when parts (and budget) become more available this year. Perhaps near the end of summer?

Maybe I should order the brakes now? If they are too hard to get, I will run XTR instead.

I and also waiting to learn a bit more about the FM909 as well before starting.

I suppose I didn't consider the hassle of bearing service.  Seems to me someone needs to invent a quick disconnect for brake lines that doesn't leak when disconnected.

I've been fortunate with my headset bearings. It's nice and dry here in AZ and I've got 7 years/7-8k miles on mine. They're a bit lose now, but still fine for use.

EDIT: The disconnects exist!  But that price...

Yes exactly, I asked the question and they confirmed to me that it was drilled to pass the cables inside so that they could then go into the head tube.

Perfect. This is what I've wanted to try on my next build. AXS and internal routing.

So did we confirm if it's possible to set this frame up to be closer to 120mm rear travel like the FM936?  That would be my preference "down-country" XC bike with ultralight weight.

Do I understand the handlebars correctly, do they support internal cable routing?

What ?!? You don't like my saddle ? It is very comfy you know ;)
Coming from the same hardtail years as me. Mind-blown you'll be for sure !

This is my saddle of choice:

However, the recent ones I've received seem to have been made cheaper and are more prone to cracking in crashes or after prolonged riding. It's a shame because the original version was excellent. At least for me. Several century rides without issue.

I recently switched to this one and have been impressed:
