My Bigrock 27.5+ Build
What started out as a budget commuter bike ended up with me becoming a weight weenie. Well, not really, compared to the actual weight weenies. My wallet is definitely lighter though. Short review below: Communication from the seller was very good by aliexpress standards. Most of my messages were answered within a a couple hours. Initially I was leaning towards the tantan/seraph fm199/299 but 17" was out of stock and they weren't responsive. The bigrock frame was on backorder and I asked for no decals so it took around 15 days to ship. They asked if I was ok with the small decals and I said I was, thought they meant the generic ones but they ended up putting their small logo on the top tube which wasn't shown in the pic for this color listing. So i'd ask for no decals at all to be safe. Also I asked them to declare low but they didn't tell me they won't, so I had to pay tax. Apparently their tax free is only for the EU. When I ordered it was around 500 usd incl shipping for the 27.5" and these guys seemed to be the only ones selling it, however it got stuck in customs for 2 months(not the sellers fault) and now lexon is selling the exact same frame for about $100 less -_-. It came in a solid box with foam on contact points. All the usual stuff is included + they include 2 'gifts' which you can choose from a few of their other items like seatpost clamps and top caps. There are no Rubber grommets on the frame so I assume its meant to be routed with full outer housing. It didn't come with placeholder tubing but routing was really easy. The holes are pretty small so if you're using a cable and a ferrule to route the brake you'll have to pull off the ferrule through the headtube first. All in all it was pretty straightforward. As usual i forgot to weigh individual parts but the total weight is 8.4kg. It could easily be sub 8kg with a lighter/rigid fork Parts list: Frame: Bigrock 27.5 Boost https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002838191949.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dmf1p7v Fork: X-fusion RC32 Wheelset: Farsports FS27C T-30-30 with ZTTO M1 hubs Brakes: Magura MT5 F and MT4 R Shifter + Rear Mech: Deore M5100 Cassette: ZTTO Slr 2 Ultralight 11-50t Chain: VG sports Crankset: Racework 36t Pedals: DMR V6 Stem: ZTTO 45mm Alu Bars: RFR Flat bar Trail Grips: ZTTO Seatpost: Sixpack Menace Weight: 8.4kg November 02, 2021, 10:19:26 AM |

Re: My new LCFS958 - StefanB
How many different chiner frames have you built?? So far eight. 2*LCFS911, 2*LCFS958, 1*LCFS917, 1*LCFS713, 1*LCFS947 and soon finished with my AM831 :-) April 03, 2022, 02:10:12 PM |

Re: Spcycle M016 hardtail frame builds
Little hiccup in the build process. Shimano Deore M6000 calipers will not work on the back end. I’ll order up some ZTTO banjo bolt kits and swap the caliper with some XT calipers that’s on another bike. April 01, 2023, 01:53:09 PM |

Re: BXT-MTB-117 150mm AM bike
Those swing links look much more solid. My first impression of the 831 — before we even knew about the flex/play issue — was that its links looked like they’d have questionable longevity. My son built up this frame (BXT MTB-117). I can confirm that all the pivots are now thru axle. I have attached a picture of the top pivot. It's massively overbuilt. A few things to note: 1. The rear post mounts are default for 180mm rotors (not 160mm as shown on the specs.) 2. Internal routing was fiddly and in the the case of the rear hydraulic hose, a little tight at the head tube. Either the opening diameter was undersized, or there was a burr in there. We needed to open up the hole a little. 3. 24mm bushings for the shock pivots. Some places still show 22mm. 4. I do not know why some people seem to think this is some updated version of the Tideace AM831. The dropouts, bushing sizes, BB mounting standard, and general look are not the same as the latest generation of the AM831. The front triangle on the BXT is missing the dated "camel hump". This bump might have been cool in 2015, but not today... 5. My son is notoriously hard on his bikes and so far there are no issues with flex or failures (but he is under 140lbs so YMMV.) Re: Spcycle M016 hardtail frame builds
I've finished building up the frame and hope to bring it out on it's first ride this weekend when things dry out a bit. There's two things that I wish I had known before ordering this frame. 1) the frame requires a crank with a 55mm chainline and is not advertised as such. This would be fine if I was purchasing a new crankset. Since I was using an existing SRAM X0 GXP crank, I had to get a new chainring with a 0mm offset to get the required chainline. Even with the 0mm offset ring, the clearance is tight with a 32t ring. More on that in item 2. For my daughters frame, I was planning on using an existing 3x SRAM Stylo GXP crank. It's a 1x drivetrain so I was able to put the ring in the large ring position which is roughly a 56mm or 57mm chainline. This set up has plenty of chain ring to frame clearance with a 32t ring. There was no chain jumping while back-pedaling in the large cog so all appears to be good. 2) a 32 tooth ring is probably the max that will fit comfortably. If you don't plan on going bigger than a 32t ring, or a 30t oval ring, you should be fine. I don't have an oval 30t to test fit so I can't say if that would fit or not. This is more of an issue for me as I'm trying to run the Philcentric EBB. A 0mm offset 32t ring still will not work when the EBB is in the aft most position. This will limit the amount of adjustment I have when getting the chain tension correct. Everything went together fine with the 32t / 18t gearing and the EBB has the spindle in the lower forward position. I could not get the 32t / 20t combo to fit but that is partially due to the limited adjustability of the Philcentric. This combo could work with a half link but then finding a 0mm offset ring that doesn't have a narrow wide tooth profile would be difficult. I will say that while I was trying to work all of this out, the folks at SP-Cycle have been very responsive to my concerns on the AliExpress chat. I always expect the worst when dealing with some of these direct vendors so any type of help is appreciated. This frame definitely isn't for everyone as it does have some concerns, but those concerns will not apply to everyone. If the ride is as expected, I'll probably be ordering another one to build up for my brother. That will have gears and a new drivetrain so we purchase the correct parts in the beginning to save some hassles. My other option would be a chain tensioner where a rear derailleur might go. I think that would be a safer option with this frame as a single speed. April 19, 2023, 02:35:15 PM |

Re: BXT-MTB-117 150mm AM bike
Thanks for posting your experience with this frame here and on the mtbr thread. I am really considering this frame or a Status frame. Your impressions of the bike really help.
