Sales & Classifieds / FS AM831 small frame
« on: October 06, 2021, 04:38:34 PM »
EDIT : frame sold

Hi everyone,

I'm selling my small FS AM831 frame unpainted.

Things changed in my life and I've accepted a job in the bike industry meaning I'll be riding the company bikes (55% off woohoo !)

I choose the frame to be bare as I planned to paint it myself, I can give you the carbon primer , blue spray paint and clear that I got from spray.bike with it

Frame will be ship in the original package that it came , also including the components that came with it : headset, seatclamp, bb

I'll put it back together as it's dissassembled right now

Asking 875$ cad shipped anywhere, that's what I paid

I have other parts that I planned to put on that I can sell in bundle.

All price in CAD

 - ZTTO threaded BB 40$
 - ZTTO chainguide 10$
 - Reverse Component -.5 hta crownrace 20$
 - ZTTO 203mm rotors 80$
 - FOVNO crank with passquest chainring 130$

I'll make you a deal if you take it all of course

Another AliExpress  parts review post  :D

Fovno GXP crankset : C$ 64.92  44% Off | Fovno GXP Bicycle Crank Mountain bike crankset aluminum alloy bicycle crank aluminum alloy MTB bicycle crank bike parts
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mOYrGBt

Crank looks solid , makes me think of Hope cranks from the shape of it.

PassQuest GXP chainring : C$ 34.45  25% Off | Pass Quest Mountain Bike Chainring Oval 3mm 6mm Offset MTB Chain Ring Round Narrow Wide Tooth Plate Bicycle Chain Wheel for SRAM
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtg1259

Machining looks good, really light. Hopefully it will last a bit

The tolerance of pairing those two were really really tight. I was able to assemble them by screwing the screw equally until the chainring would sit flush.

We’ll report more once I’ve ridden them or if you guys have any questions

Cheers

Component Deals & Selection / Avitus clipless shoes
« on: July 28, 2021, 09:49:56 AM »
So while waiting for the FS831, I’ve decided to review some of the other AliExpress components/apparels that I’ve bought and used.

This year started with me wanting to try clipless for the first time without paying too much for shoes so I went to the good ol’ AliExpress and got those :

C$ 33.98  12% Off | Mens Cycling Shoes Mtb Downhill Enduro Mountain Bike Shoes Compatible with All 2 Bolts Peadls
https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0xtNRz

I’ve used them with crankbrother candy and crankbrother mallet e LS , no issue clipping in or out

Pros
 - Shoes run true to size
 - waterproof
 - Stiff sole to my knowledge of mtb shoes

Cons
 - boa system doesn’t tight equally, gets little toe numb if tightened to hard
 - boa gets loose a bit during riding

Overall I’m happy with them but I’ll probably get the normal lace shoe from the same company for the next pair

26er & 27.5 (650b) / XS Ican P1 Build
« on: May 27, 2021, 04:51:56 AM »
Hey there !

Since not a lot of people documented on building a p1 , I decided to start my own thread on it.

Little background, last year during the pandemic, my girlfriend really started enjoying Riding.

Now, with this issue of bike shortage, the only nice used bike we were able to get was a 2017 devinci spartan small.

This bike is a beast by the way, way overkill for the kind of riding my girlfriend does. The only issue with it is that my GF is 5" and that small is just way to big.

So many time I've seen her just "jump out of saddle to bail on something because she just can't dab on that bike or even sit over the top tube.

This year , she decided she like bike more then enough to treat herself with an XS size bike and with the bike shortage still going full speed, we opted to build an Ican P1 with most of the part from the Devinci.

Here's what the build will look like :

 - Ican P1 XS UD Matte
 - Fox Float DPS 200x51
 - RockShox Yari 150mm (might drop to 140mm if adding an angleset or offset bushing as the HTA of the P1 is kinda meh to me)
 - Mach1 Trucky 650B wheelset, 30mm inner width, 32h spokes, Tubeless ready, pretty budget friendly
 - DHR2 2.4wt / DHF 2.5wt
 - 11speed NX drivetrains w/ a 28T chainring from nsbillet (such a good way to upgrade an 11-42T cassette range to have a better granny gear for her)
 - Sram Level T brakes w/ 180mm rotor ( At 105lbs, she's even complaining that those are still too powerful...)
 - Devinci 45mm stem
 - Raceface Atlas bar
 - CrankBrother Stamp 1 pedals
 - PNW loam grips
 - Ks Lev Integra 100mm

So far so good , frame looks in good shape.

Now it's just a question of waiting on the parts we couldn't transfer from the donor to arrive than the fun begin :)

Cheers !
