I came to like the "RIDERACE Bicycle Bottle Holder Full Carbon Fiber 3K Super Light For Road Cycling Mountain MTB Bike Water Bottles Cage Matte" - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005840986923.html. The finish is very nice and they are holding my 980ml bottles firmly in place.

I didn't try yet how low I could go. I just assembled it and holds since.

Look, no need to panic. It's a 550 € china frame. It's about fun. And velobuild respect their warranty actually. Do some measures, stay easy with the torque and chances are good you'll be fine.

May I ask where did you get the cracks?
Also please can you say what torque did you use after taking these measures? It would be helpful as I am currently in the process of building a bike on this frame.

Mine where right between the bolts.

I probably used 4nm, but I'm not sure. I may have been lazy.

If you're still building, don't even try fixing the seatpost by grease and bolts. Use some helpers like I described, try to get away with less than 4nm and you should be fine. I will do it that way when I build the replacement frame.

The seatpost clamping is just like the original Pinarello. But I got serious doubts in this construction. The bolts spread 2 metal parts behind the seatpost, so they press it against the front of the seattube. Any force on the saddle will work against that. So some force is held by the rather thin back of the seattube at those bolts. In the end most force is held by the lower part of the seattube where the seatpost will sit rather tightly and tilt to take the force. But not all of it if the seatpost shall be fixed forward. I don't know, it could be an issue of manyfactoring tolarances?

Anyway: I got cracks too and Chris send me a replacement frame. It took 3 month though. The good news is: I didn't bother to build the new frame yet. I'm running cracks worse than that for 5000km now and it's still working and holding the seatpost fine...

I would recommend taking measures agains seatpost slipping though so one can use less force on the clamping. I used some textile tape (after degreasing the seatpost with isopropanol) at the bottom-front of the seatpost (where it doesn't reach full width yet) and some at the back right in the clamping area. Additionally I made generous use of carbon paste. It may be needed to tilt the seatpost a few degrees forward when inserting it, but once in position it will almost hold by itself. It didn't even slide a mm since I did that.

Other than that I still love that bike. It's running great.

I'm using Newboler 28g TPU

https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005005428747176.html

So far all of them worked flawless. Only puncture I got was from a big piece of debris which killed the whole tyre. No tube would have survived this.

I don't know if they are identical to RideNow, I guess so.

On an unrelated note, does anyone know if these third party derailleur cages will convert my short cage Ultegra RD to long cage RD? Made by LTwoo it looks better than some other no name cages.

https://a.aliexpress.com/_mNv4xBk

I think it should work to convert the RD. But I wasn't happy with the LTwoo cage. The bearings are looking nice and spinning fine, but they had no sealing whatsoever. In fact the bushings leave a 1mm gap where everything can run into the bearings. I used the CS copy instead.

Hi guys, here is my build.

Nice Colour!

My argument wasn't that sending influencers frames would increase the cost, which is given back to us by increasing prices. That is indeed marginal. But prices aren't made from costs, but from what you can actually ask for, what the customer is willing to pay.

Btw, I'm not criticizising anyone here, neither the influencers nor the companies looking for effective marketing. Doing that thing is probably in the best interest of both. It's just not in my best interest (probably true for a lot of people here in this forum) and I learned to speak out for that.

This is unfair and kind of wrong IMO.

Regarding Pat it's probably a little unfair. But carbonazza has a point: The more companies like winspace see how they are seen as reputable brands delivering higher quality, the higher their prices will rise. Even more so, if they pay something for the marketing and being named and shown by "influencers". And the whole point of buying those Chinese frames is to spare all the cost for marketing-bullshit. Not buying a name, but just the frame for just riding. I would prefer to keep it that way.

Did you watch the video from 24:17 ?
Most replica look the same as the real thing, but just from afar, at best they are QA rejected B or C quality bikes, or at worst just gross copies.
People selling them do not put their skin in the game like the brands that try to build their reputation and trust.

Yes I did and what Joe said was remarkebly vague and generic. As others said already, bad things can happen with other frames and sources too, it depends from whom you buy and not at least the quality control you have to do for yourself. And I can tell from experience that my VBR-218 is fine. The crank doesn't spin any worse than on an original Dogma and it does 80km/h descents just fine. Just the rear brake mount is not perfect, but workable. Everything, including the appearance of the inside of the tubes, very much in line of what I have seen with regular middle-class CF frames from western brands.

I like Joe from PandaPodium and what he is doing. But he has way too much personal interest in this matter to be your only advisor. Here in Germany buying a replica product is legal for private use. But if you sell something like that, it's a crime. So if Joe would sell replicas, he might get into bigger trouble when returning to Europe. I wouldn't take that risk if I were him. His business is instead making Chinese originals accessible to us, which is great. But for sure he wants us to buy Chinese originals from him and not some replica he can't sell.

From what I can tell the quality of my VBR 218 is no worse than a usual beginner to middle-class carbon frame from a western brand. As we know a lot of western brands just sell chinese frames with their branding and why should a replica frame be worse than other open molds? The replica has the advantage of compatiblity with a lot of accessories or spare parts from the original though. Geometry and aero will often be better too.

So it depends: If you want a superbike, you'll have to pay for the original and there is a bigger difference. But if you just want some easy middle-class well performing bike, the replica can do that just fine.

I wouldn't put stickers on it too, for sure.

The rotors are not loose by any means. They do not rattle or anything like that. It takes a considerable amount of force, rolling the bike back and forth whilst pulling the brake. If I do that and try hard, I can make the rotor move on the splines despite the lockring being torqued down. It obviously never happens during riding because braking force only ever occurs in one direction, unless you track stand or do trial riding.

The internet is virtually full of users reporting exactly that same problem. Just google it and you'll find plenty of examples with all sorts of rotor and wheel combinations in MTB and road cycling alike. And like I said, a representative of DT Swiss literally told a user on a German MTB forum to ignore it, saying that it wasn't a safety risk.

Also, I've checked on two other bikes of friends of mine only to find that their wheels have that same issue. One of them being an Elite Wheels Edge wheelset, the other one a gravel bike. Both said, they've never even realised that this was possible.

I had that once on my Reynolds Enduro Black Labels. But the only reason was the lockring got loose. It was how I noticed the lockring got loose.

My level of information is the rotors should actually hold from pressure friction and the teeth are just a redundancy, to stay save if the lockring gets loose. You might loose this redundancy accepting it.

Btw: On my Elite Edge front wheel I had initially difficulties fixing the rotor too. But all I had to do was to give it a little more torque than I would usually do. Later I found some long splinter coming off the thread. The issue came from an unclean thread in the hub and "recutting" it fixed it. I had no issues since then, running about 2000km/30000hm with it. No movement at all.

I can still rock the rotors back and forth on the hubs.

That's definitely not normal and could even be a savety risk. The rotors shouldn't just hold from the teeth but from pressure induced friction.

I bought this Ztto from "Global Outdoor Sporting Store" and it worked fine:

Very nice looking bike and a great branding! One does wonder why most bike branding and colouring made by professionals is utter sh...t.
