Maintenance, Mechanics, & Tools / Re: What lube?
« on: November 03, 2023, 01:02:07 AM »
I recently switched to immersive waxing. I was able to get a $9 USD slow cooker and a $20 USD ultra sonic cleaner big enough to hold a bike chain. I didn't want big equipment sitting around, so I kept everything fairly small. Now that I have my waxing system down, the procedure is straight forward and I'm able to do all my chains quite easily. I now enjoy having a clean drivetrain on all my bikes!

What chemical, if any, do you use to clean new chains ?

... I’ve been riding all kinds of Campagnolo groupsets for years...

I programmed my Campy EPS to work the SRAM way. Unfortunately, it doesn't support double-tap, so I still need the thumb paddles for the chainring. Even after 2-3 years, I sometimes hesitate between left or right  ::)

The SRAM approach, just one paddle per shifter, is the most intuitive to me.
Left for easier, right for harder.
Press both to toggle the chainring, which goes always the right direction since you want to change it.

It's the same for my MTB, where I use blips buttons for an AXS Eagle and the seatpost.

I really hope Sensah/LTWOO will allow for this kind of programming... and why not include blips!

Once when I was riding on a hot day with my jersey unzipped, a wasp flew straight onto my stomach, stung me and then started crawling inside my bib! I had to stop and do a crazy dance to get it off me! First day it was sore, next day it itched like crazy. Now I get a little paranoid if I unzip! Lol
Feel free to unzip again!
If unlucky, hornets or wasps can sting you through the jersey !

It was 557 but with coupons and promo codes I had the discount to 412€. I ordered a lot from AE and never payed taxes so we will see if I have to pay extra tax if it arrives but probably not. I’m located in belgium
Me too, it looks like there are ways some sellers find  8)

My wheels are 1240 grams right now.    Not sure how much weight I would actually drop with just the spoke change.

With carbon spokes you can get 1050g wheels
I'll try Berd ones on a next build to test the damping

Hands down best option is buy an ultrasonic cleaner.  If you get a big enough one you can put cassettes and chainrings in there too.  Even jockey wheels and stuff if you are deep cleaning.

I have a big one, enough for an Eagle cassette.
But it is too big to heat(better results)
So I use pots or bags, with hot water in the big cold bath.
I wouldn't take one that big again.

Here's my best of :
Elita one seatpost and saddles
Firespider handlebars
Uno stems too
Balugoe $24 86g bare carbon saddles(but tend to crack after a while)
xpresso pedals Ti, 160g F1Z bike shop
handlebar bags, for long rides(Loving Outdoor Store)
Darevie shorts
SK Cycle carbon seatpost clamp
Alpha cycling pink break pads
Nuga store tubeless syringe
Onirii M2 brakes
Balashov Electric Cooking Machine 1.7L, to wax chains
Magene Radar L508

I liked them but not anymore:
Gaciron lights, great but their straps are crap, I've lost them all

Did you build them yourself? I haven't made it down that avenue yet, but I'd love to. I started building a diy truing stand a while back. Now might be the time.

It is a very gratifying experience if you try.
Novatec 711/712 are very light, good and cheap.
Light bicycle can provide you very light rims. Even carbon aero spokes(maybe harder to start with than Pillar or CX-Rays).
So you can end at about 1kg for a wheelset.

The geometry on that frame is not what I would be looking for in a modern XC bike.

What is for you a very modern geometry?

I tried this one for when I'm travelling.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_ExQfVex
But comparing with my digital wrench: 4Nm was in fact 7Nm, 5 was 8 and 6 was 10.

This is what I use for all my builds: https://a.aliexpress.com/_Exa1nMn
The 2-60Nm
With two boxes of hex and torx 3/8" bit sockets that are unfortunately not available anymore on ali

Do you know how the weights are on the Aethos compared to this frame?
Can't find a picture of my frame on a scale.
Apparent the  S-Works is... 585g   :o

I just tried installing a XX SL transmission derailleur on my frame and it's NO GO. ...

Did it come with a UDH mounted on it ?
Did you contact them about this issue ?

Wing has the same kind of fba email.

Damn! This is the frame I wanted about 2 years ago, and could only get if I did order... 30 of them. Resulting in a very expensive Aethos buy instead  ::)
