Re: Carbon Aero Bar search… Hey Pearl!

Unfortunately, no pictures of it as I'm currently spending the winter away from home base.

I think it would be better with a stem GPS mount but while I was using that setup I used the elastic mount on top of the stem as I didn't have a second handlebar mount by then.

If you are patient I'll be back home for the start of April and can definitely snap pics then as I will be using the handlebar on my new build!

Re: Fake eeBrakes G4
What part have you had rust on you?  I took a magnet to them and the only thing I could find that was magnetic was the return spring, cable clamp bolt (replaced with Ti) and the brake pad bolts (replaced with Ti).  if there is something else that I need to look at please let me know.

although I told my wife this was the trainer bike so maybe I don't need to worry about rain.  hahahaha

the little circular arc has been rusting on me and I have been oiling it to protect it as much as possible and it's happening on both calipers.

I would still vouch for these as it doesn't seem to affect integrity however for those who want things to look pristine all the time it's something to consider.

Re: Standert Bicycles (Berlin Brand) - Who Makes Them? Any Alternatives?
I was right, going through my messages with the guy, he had a 31mm measured tire on the rear, saying he could fit 35s on it. Use that info for what you will!

35 is such a strange size to fit, I think I would want 40mm at the least!

This is an artifact of CX frames that we're made for 33c tires and could fit 35's most likely same kind of jig measurement for the builder.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218
Finished my build and just went for a short ride to check on everything. Rides very nicely, very stiff (I might change the rear tire from 25mm to 28mm to increase comfort). Overall I'm very happy with it and for the cost I cannot complain (warning: new toy syndrome). The fit is also nice, as I was afraid the frame could be too small. But the aero spacers and saddle setback make up for it.  I'm 188cm tall with a 92cm inseam and long arms, got the XL Frame. I haven't decided on the final bike fit, so I still have 15mm 3d printed spacers on top - thanks to the stranger who designed these and put them on thingiverse! I'll also put some TPU on my 3d printer this weekend and see if I can draw up some grommets for the frame openings that I don’t need due to the electronic shifting and a seat post gasket.

The only issue I have not solved yet is some disc brake rubbing on the rear brake that I cannot get rid of at the moment. Possibly due to misaligned (unfaced) brake mounting points. I went with post mount brakes as I got the Sram Red groupset for 600€ cheaper than flat mount, so I had to use adapters that increase the distance between the calliper and the frame. Not sure if that worsens the issue. I might want to exchange the callipers to flat mount. Does anyone know if changing to flat mount callipers helps with the disc brake rubbing? Or does anyone have experience with DIY facing the brake mounts?

Nice build Matt what wheels are those I dig the finish and that paint is sparkly!!! Definitely go to a shop and get the brake mounts faced to help with the rubbing!

Re: Consensus on replica frames ??
Is it the same mould? I remember chris miller mentioning that some chinese company that does direct to consumer had the factor moulds and would start selling them this year, people were saying ICAN tho.

This winter I rode with a guy with a legit Ostro and and his friend had a fasterway version and they are really similar externally however the fake one is about 400g heavier.

Re: Winspace T1550 new frame?
Interesting, I’m having a very different experience with the 168. Very little difference between it and my Tarmac SL7 apart from weight. And I’m no world tour sprinter but even pushing 1600W in a sprint it feels great. It’s my dedicated crit bike now over my SL7 for the crash replacement ability. And at less than half the price of an Allez Sprint, there’s no way I’d pick the Allez over it.

It's just a personal opinion from an amateur racer I would take that with a grain of salt as people win races on much worse bikes than a VBR-168.

Engine still is the biggest factor.

Re: Chinese cycling clothes
Update on the Spexcel pro team bibs: These bibs do feel better on my other bike with an SWORKS Power Saddle. But still not great. I could eventually get comfy on the chamois. But the fabric makes me slide around on the saddle much more than my other bibs which is annoying. And the chamois tends to bulk up in all the wrong places, therefore leading to uneven distribution of pressure. It’s better when I’m forcing myself to sit far back on the saddle and as much on my sit bones as possible. Also, these bibs seems to get comfier the more I ride them. Maybe the chamois “breaks in” somehow. But I wouldn’t trust these bibs for a gran fondo or a really really long ride.

The jersey is so good on the other hand that I bought a second one in a different Color.

I've had 3 of these bibs pad fail over time as the pad bunched up in all the wrong places and at the end separated.

I've done 7 hour rides with them but they are not long lasting.

Re: Speeder SC-R48 So I've finally completed the build of the frame I bought from @trilobites

I'm switching from a Factor o2 2018 RB with 8050 Di2 and so far after a few hundred k's the main difference is the stiffness in between both frame's rear triangle has the o2 was much more lively and felt alive when climbing out of the saddle however it looks like the power delivery is a bit better on the speeder.

I will report back after a month or two on the bike for a clear review.

Speeder SC-R48D 490
Sram AXS Rival RD/Force FD/Rival Shifters
Ali Shimano 12 Speed 11/32 cassette & Chain
Shimano R8000 52/36 crankset
Speeder 45mm wheels with Chosen Hub - 1460G with Tape.
Prologo Dimension NDR Nack / Elita One Seatpost
Fasterway 380mm aero handlebars
Kalloy Uno 100mm
Favero Assioma

Re: Speeder SC-R48
Didnt know the indexing of the RD would work with 12sp Shimano.

Is the FD maxed out in terms of how high it can be mounted in FD-mount?

And can the FD handle the 16 tooth difference between the front chainrings?

How is the pulleywheels of the RD handling the smaller rollers in the chain?

The pulley wheels are having no issues with the chain!

It is a D1 Force AXS FD and yes it's at the highest point of the mount!

Shifting from small to big works but at both extremes of the range I had some slight chain rubbing IE Big ring and 32 in the back and vice-versa.

I'm debating adding a spacer on the drive side to help with Derailleur adjustments but this will have to take a break as one of the FD limit screws is stripped and I'm hunting for a replacement.
