Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Subcompact crankset
« on: October 16, 2021, 04:21:34 PM »
For Shimano cranks (asym 4x110 BCD) there are 46/30 and 48/32 rings on eBay.
The brand's name is Bikingreen. I use 46/30 set.

I've just got from ebay 46/30 chainrings branded as Bikingreen, but haven't tryed them yet. They are 3 times cheeper than AB once. They also have 48/32 version.

Yeah, I heard about adding 6% to Xcadey PM. Maybe in future it will be fixed by firmware, but for now I will choose Sigeyi.
I have at least 3 positive opinions :)

46/30 chainrings uses 4x 110BCD but has thinner bolts placed closer to the spindle I suppose.
I've just bought it on ebay, and hope it will work:

Absolute Black also has 46/30 rings, but more expensive and I don't want oval in road bike.

Thanks guys for the update. I think I'd go for Sigeyi then.
One more: does the balance L/R seem to work well?
Is it close to the "truth" according to your feeling?

@carbonazza
how is your power meter performing? Does it have any disadvantages that appeared later? I wanted to buy XCADEY XPower-S but you said something about accuracy.
Where is this information from?
I will be grateful for your help.
I would like to buy it for road bike (SRAM 3-bolts to 110BCD) and I am wondering about compatibility.
By the way I'm going to buy 46/30 chainrings from ebay: bikinGreen CNC Chainring 46/30T
I hope everything will work together without problems...

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Road disc 24H ratchet hubs
« on: December 11, 2020, 01:54:50 PM »
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for hubs to build my road wheels.
They should be 24 spokes with centerlock, DTSWISS-like ratchet and better with J-bend flanges rather than SP.
DT 350 hubs would be most reliable, but it has some disadvantages like weight, ratchet with only 18 tooth and first of all - price.
I've found two models to choose from, but they don't have many opinions. Only few comments on aliexpress. Has anyone of you tried these?
Any opinions about this brands?

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Tantan TT-X16 aero model
« on: November 13, 2020, 08:59:32 AM »
Hi,
just 3 weeks have passed since I build it, so my experience isn't much. Still I am looking for some parts, f.e. crankset, couse I ride 1x 42t front (with 11-25 cassette).
I have comparision only to one alloy road bike which I sell a year ago (and two carbon frames but MTB  - ICAN and Pro-Mance). Tantan frame seems to be well built, much comfortable than alloy for sure.
Avg speed is very similar. I don't expected much difference since it is "only" aero frame. Rest of the set isn't so aero :) The stiffness is enough for my weight at 69-70kg.
I'm riding alloy wheels with rims DT RR421 with Conti GP5000 28mm tubeless tires. Front fork can manage with 32mm tire for sure, but rear triangle I think can hold even 35mm.
I had an issue with slipping seatpost, but electrical tape helped in it. I like the headtube angle, it is more like old MTB :) At last without hands riding is easy. The old bike was very nervous.
This frame is 57cm long and 53cm high. I am 180 tall with 85cm inseam. The size is max I could ride. I don't like small frames. Big frame and slack (as for road bike) head angle with short stem - perfect for me.
Overall I don't regret the purchase, but contact with Tantan wasn't the best :)
On the occasion with frame I bought Tantan aero rims 25x55mm 24H (18,5-19 mm inner width) which are waiting for rest of parts. I heard that ZTTO is to release road disc hubs with ratchet system called R2 - info from Aliexpress Ztto shop.
Maybe it is worth waiting...

No, for my new road build I went for Ultegra 8000 set.
Because of this I ran out of money for road crankset (now running MTB 1x11) but that's another story :)
Still I haven't enough users feedback about Zrace, Ztto, Zoom and similar calippers. Maybe I'll use it on my another bike MTB 29+ dropbar with R5800 shifters...

40
Hi, I almost bought Zrace one, but before I'll do it
I'd like to ask the users of these kind of calippers:
- what is the braking force comparing to full hydro brakes?
- what is their endurance especially for leaking

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Tantan TT-X16 aero model

@Keto Cyclist
thanks for sharing your experience of using Tantan frame in general. SissyPants also helped me much describing different Tantan frame.
I've finally ordered TT-X16 and now I am waiting for shipping. It has thru bolts and max 32mm clearance, so I hope I will not rub my GP 5000 28mm :)
Beside I'm not a sprinter. I can imagine the stiffness of BB area can be lower than in my former alu road frame, but it shouln't be an issue for me.
I also took Tantan 55/28 rims to build wheels later.
My only concern building this bike is if I can use my post-mount calipper using adapter. Perheps not couse the rear triangle is low.
Someone tell me should I start looking for FM calippers?

42
Hi, has anyone got this frame and could share feelings about it?
I've just started looking for "aero" disc frame with long base (I hate toe overlap) and this measurement looks good.
One thing wonder me: unusual head angle as for a road frameset...

29er / Re: looking for a frame with modern geometry
« on: November 19, 2017, 03:04:08 AM »
I looked up the DengFu 27.5er plus bike and it does have boost. So you can build it as a 29er boost and you will have the new geometry with boost. This will probably be my next bike.

Thanks for advice but I chose different vendor. 27.5 plus is the way I'll go considering for my XC racing and progressive geometry.
My future bike (after studying many geometry charts and checking drawings in CAD) will be built on this frameset:
http://www.icanbikes.com/html/MTB/27_5ER_frame/330.html#bk_desc_tab
It will go on 29 wheels, at first on rigid fork. Low, slack, short end, long front - that's what I need.
Rised CS maybe looks funny, but  in my case it is for riding not watching:)

ICAN AC650B PLUS http://www.icanfatbike.com/carbon-27-5-plus-frameset/ seems like have perfect geometry for me, but I wonder if the tail is stiff enough... also it could be lighter.
Does anyone here tried one? see any review?
Adventages for me are: boost (I want stiffer 29x2.3 wheels), HA 68.5, CS 425mm, long WB, PF30.

It's a pity. Modern geometry with more and more popular BOOST frame would be a bestseller...
Even my steel On-One Inbred has slacker head angle than popular chiners (analysing in AutoCAD :)).
Maybe in 2018 situation would change, but it may appear it is to late.
