Not sure how much it would be for you. I purchased a frame and wheel set along with my handlebars so my shipping was considerably expensive.

Thanks CD. When you built your 036 did Peter include shock mounting bolts? I have all the bushings I need, but I don't know if I need to buy bolts or if they come with the frame. Are they a standard size?

These are the bars I just ordered. Not sure if you'll be able to get the $40 with shipping as I paid $35 for mine without shipping. So far from what I've read on the forum people have had issues with other Chinese bars, but not these from Peter.

29+ & 27+ / Re: New CarbonSpeed 27.5+/29+ Frame
« on: July 15, 2016, 11:30:37 AM »
You know what? Because of the current contest to win this frame I started to really look into its spec (so, yes, advertising works :) ).

For some reason I thought it was a pure 29+ frame but then I started to notice it shows 27.5+ as well. So, I looked at the geometry today and... I LOVE IT!! I consider this frame as a perfect replacement for my current frame (which is a regular 29"):
- Boost axle (I'd love to use a Nobby Nic in the rear, at least in the winter)
- Short chainstay (actually shorter then my current 29" frame)
- Slack head angle
- Same seat post tube size (I don't have to replace my reverb seatpost!!)
- Same weight (it's good to not take any weight penalty when switching to a new frame)

Actually, the beauty of this frame being compatible 29+ is that running it with 27.5+ will drop the BB, so that I could use an even longer travel fork, to compensate a bit (maybe 10-20 mm longer).
I've been thinking a lot about going to Full-Sus CS-M04 but that's more then 1kg added (frame is +800g, shock is +200g, probably some additional hardware). It offers Full-Sus comfort and grip but a hard tail with 2 Nobby Nic 3.0 would be plenty with a 140 mm travel fork.

So... now I really wish I win this frame  :P :P :P
And if I don't, I'll think again... CS-M04 or CS-496

Wow.. SportingGoods you are lucky! Your wish came true! Make sure to keep us updated on your new build once you receive your frame!

I know a lot of you guys suggest taking apart your 036 before riding to grease all the bushings. What grease or lubricant would you suggest? My dad is an old school biker and suggested some Phil Wood grease, but I'm not sure if that's the best option.

29er / Re: Suspension 29", which frame?

Tornado, You might want to email Peter about the CS-098. It's another FS 29er frame that he offers. I have the geometry and some images I can send you if you'd like. I was considering it because it looks like it'll be more of an Enduro bike with the room for larger suspension, but I already bought components that fit the 036. Otherwise if you do a little searching through MTBR forums you'll find a TitanX frame or something? I can't remember the exact name. Generally there were about 3 FS 29er frames that I found offered. (Unfortunately none with a vertical shock mount :'( )

Any update on your build? I'm around the same height as you and I'm wondering if you regret going with the larger frame.

If I'm not out biking I'm probably out doing something else outside. One of my other hobbies/passions/money vortexes is rock climbing. Theres really nothing else like being hundreds of feet off the ground hanging on to tiny pieces of rock! Other than that I do a fair bit of backpacking, backcountry fly fishing and skiing!

29er / Help me decide: CS-036 or CS-098 (Full Suspension 29ers)
« on: June 29, 2016, 11:07:40 PM »
So... I've been planning to build a CS-036 for that longest time, but today I stumbled upon some builds done with a different 29" frame known as the IP-098. The frame is very similar to a Specialized Enduro and has room for a larger fork and larger rear shock. I did a little research and was only able to find 3 or 4 builds with the frame. Not much to go off of, but most people seemed happy enough with it. Anyways, I emailed Peter with a picture of the frame and he told me that he can get it for me and the reason he doesn't list it on his site is because "the reviews are not as good as the CS-036". I think the frame is sexier and has a little more potential to be something that can be used aggressively in some more downhill technical terrain. I'll upload the geometry and image that Peter included and you guys can feel free to give me some opinions. It's definitely an interesting frame!

Carbonazza, I'm going to be curious to see the valves that you end up using. I bought a set of American Classic tubeless valves, and I'm curious to see if they'll work with this shape rim.

Quite honestly I do wish that Peter or one of the frame manufactures would come out with a 29+ frame with a vertical shock mount. I'll be happy with my 036, but I do get a sense that the frame will be slightly dated compared to the newer bikes that are flooding the market currently.

I'd really appreciate the help to put something together that could be a service to those without experience. That being said, realistically I probably won't have this thing done until late summer unfortunately. I'll get started on it ASAP and keep you guys posted.

29er / CS-036 Build Book / Beginners Guide
« on: June 24, 2016, 12:53:12 PM »
Hey guys, So I've ordered all of the components I'll need for my 036 except for the frame and wheels from Peter. I expect to place my order in the next few weeks and start the build soon after. I'm a first time builder here on Chinertown, and I've found this site to be a incredible resource to someone who doesn't know everything that they need to about building a bike. I'm a designer by trade and I'd like to give back to the community with a well documented build including a step by step process of me assembling my bike, different component specs and detailed images. My goal would be to provide someone with a PDF document that they could use as a reference for their own build. I would like to compile all of the tidbits and scraps that I've accumulated from other posts and assemble them in a way so that a person can hopefully use this guide as a reference when buying parts. I'm looking to start the rough layout of the document soon and I'm going to be roughly following the order of operations that was posted by Carbon Dude. If you guys don't mind looking stuff over every once and awhile that would really help me tune this document so it's easy to understand and use.

What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea?

If you'd like to be one of the reviewers of my drafts and progress, shoot me a PM and I'll try to upload to google drive or something.
