Re: AM831 competitors? Help knudge me over! Crud...looks like based on this: http://www.winowsports.com/product/dual-suspension-150mm-travel-AM-Frame.html

The AM831 can only handle a 210x55 rear shock :(

Any frames that you're aware of that can handle a 230x27.5mm shock? if not, I'd have to look into selling it and buying one that fits.

Re: AM831 competitors? Help knudge me over! Sorry guys, yeah it was 230x57.5.  It was correct in the original post.

Anyway, yeah that shock won't work so I will have to sell and get another one with the correct size.  I pulled the trigger on the AM831 already so it's done.  I was interested in the other two as well but for $200 less shipped and colored, I'll go the AM831 route instead.  Thx

How to know which shock mounting hardware? From the AM831 posts, I see this:

8x22mm rear shock mounting hardware (linkage side, need to confirm exact measurement)

I have a basic Fox Performance Float DPS shock.  I'll be getting the m8x30 for the frame side.

Searching around via google, looks like there's a m8x22.2, m8x21.84, m8x21.54, m8x20, m8x19.

How do we know which one to order?

Re: How to know which shock mounting hardware? From searching this site, looks like others are actually using ones that are larger than what the dealer is saying.  They're saying using these two.

1. M8x22.86 - https://thelostco.com/products/the-real-2021-fox-mounting-hardware?variant=32303772631121
2. M8x30 -  https://thelostco.com/products/the-real-2021-fox-mounting-hardware?variant=32303770370129

Let me know if this is incorrect.  Thx.

Re: FM1002 / FM1166 - 150mm frame
On the lower trunnion shock mount, are there bearings or bushings there? The bolts look similar to other pivot points that contain bearings so I'm curious. The shock shouldn't move much in relation to the frame at the bottom mount, but will move some so I'm hoping they have done something to accommodate the movement.

I want to buy this frame as I'm in need of one, but I'm a bit skittish as the owner of an unrideable AM831...

I haven't built up my AM831 frame yet as I just got it last week but yes, I'm not too happy about the flexing issues ATM.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Heidei really needs to look at some successful examples of business crisis management.  What they're doing is NOT a good example.  At the very minimium, they should sponsor JJJ's fix for us AND offer the new triangle at half off.  What would be ideal and even better is if the new triangle is sent out for free to those that are still under the 1yr warranty period.  Most of these chinese bike frames from aliexpress have a 2yr warranty anyway.

This forum are a dedicated group of buyers who are NOT afraid to try out chinese frames while their friends are all "oh hell no" to chinese frames.  That means this group of buyers will be the people that try to persuade their friends to buy frames such as this.  This is not good business crisis management.  I'm not blaming Eddy directly cus maybe he's just being a spokes person for the company.  Their director's and CEO's need to realize that if they want to keep the ball going for sales on the ground, they need to handle this much better.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
Actually this design flaw bite me in the ass, i broke my collarbone on a berm due to the flex, i usually rip those. Im not a heavy rider 85 kg fully kited. And i was charged the same price for a new rear triangle. I feel this is the worst way to handle this situation.

Wow dude that sucks big time :( If they're in the US, they'd be getting sued for sure.  There's still time to right this ship but completely agree, this is a terrible way to do business crisis management. I hope they see your post and that opens their eyes on the dangers of their product as is.  I understand it's going to cost them a lot of $ but hey, folks could have spent their hard earned money elsewhere if they knew this kind of circus would happen.  Fix the issue correctly and have a brighter future or don't fix the issue correctly and it will be a example that will be used for years to come.

Those with AM831 built, are you happy with it if not including flexing issue? I've got til today to return it back or not so I'm pondering it.  If I keep it, I will be doing JJJ's fix.

It's also a tad too large for me.  It's Heidei's "small" frame but their small frame is eqivalent to most other manufacturer's (i.e. Santa Cruz) size medium.  I need the actual small frame.

Just checking to see if you guys are actually enjoying the frame or is it just "meh, it's alright but nothing that special".

Thanks!

Re: Those with AM831 built, are you happy with it if not including flexing issue? Thanks for all the replies and considerations, guys.

I agree, Snacks, that the level of customer service and professionalism should be at a higher standard.  Thanks for giving insight that lightcarbon and carbonda are reputable vendors to purchase from.

Good to hear from many of you that you've enjoyed the bike minus the concern of the flexing.

I called paypal and they're extending my return period another 10 days since usps was closed on the 31st.  I'm going to ponder it over the next day and see if I want to keep or return it.  The poor service definitely leaves a bad taste. Kinda a bummer cus it's painted a nice cobalt blue which I like.  I'll figure something out.

thanks again!

pretty much any vendor is going to be able to get you a nice cobalt blue if you ask.

yeah i know...just that I already have it.  I've painted cars before too so I could prob do it myself if I got a primered or plain version for cheaper.
