Re: building wheel with straight pull hub: d411/412 spoke hole offset? The build went well! Only 0.5g over my target weight  8)  (see attached pic -- no rim tape/valves yet)

I would say the straightpull hubs were easier to build with than a regular hub, but it took me a while to figure out the key spokes visually. After that, pretty smooth!

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy Thread!
Just ordered one since I cracked the chainstay on my FM356.  I missed the group buy but I figured I would ask here since most of you here have probably already considered some of these -
What are you guys going to do for downtube protection?  That is a lot of real estate and I don't think one of the generic 1mm thick sticker types will do.  Maybe this RAAW one will work https://raawmtb.com/collections/accessories/products/downtube-guard.  If the HT one fits it could be double sided taped since this frame doesn't have the bosses to mount it.
I've been looking, are there any bash guards that work with just the front two ISCG05?  I mean, that is a really odd design decision, but whatever.
Has seat tube insertion depth be mentioned for the sizes?  I couldn't find it while searching.
Oh, out of curiosity is it actually 200mm rear rotor or 180mm?  The different Ali sellers can't seem to agree on specs for the same frame.

Downtube : probably getting protectors directly from santa cruz

Insertion: no idea yet waiting on the frame. Size small amd I have a PNW loam 170mm for it

Rear pm : 180mm for sure

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
8x22mm front
8x30mm rear

According to the Tideace listings.

In reality its 8x30 Front and 8x22ish rear. Reversed from what is published on aliexpress
This means the bearing mount shocks that typically come with Santa Cruz bikes will not work as the rear shock mount is not wide enough.. I learned this the hardway....

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Damn that's a huge bummer. I did the same thing. Bought a super deluxe that was taken off a new Bronson for this frame. But I also ordered a hightower lower link to see if it fits ( fortunately,  its returnable if it doesn't), so hopefully I can still fit this shock if it does

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Stock rear axle - 172mm long, M12 (P1.5) 16L  - so no one else needs to zoom in.  Breaking down the numbers - 172mm from below the head to the end of the threads.  12mm diameter.  1.5 thread pitch.  16mm of the axle has threads.

A few options without a handle.  Not perfect matches but the overall length and thread pitch fit.  1mm short shouldn't be an issue.  If we get a picture of the stock axle threaded in it will show whether the 1mm difference will fall short.  Some stock axles protrude more so the 1mm might end up flush with the body. An alternative to slightly shorter is going slightly longer and using a small plastic or polymer washer under the bolt head to offset things slightly.

ZTTO - 171mm long and 19mm of the axle threaded.  $10.89 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001703950314.html black only.

Hardlite - 171mm long, 17mm threaded $35 https://hardlite-components.com/product/e-thru-12-x-142/ Range of colors available.

Carbon Fiber, no brand name, 168mm long $15.99 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001954598179.html

Maxle - 170.5mm long, Planet Cyclery - sold through Walmart $23.95 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Maxle-Stealth-Rear-Thru-Axle-12x142-170-5mm-Length-Giant/775556003

Wolf Tooth - 172mm out of stock until mid September. 178mm in stock.  $39.95 https://www.wolftoothcomponents.com/collections/hub-related/products/wolf-axle-for-12mm-rear-thru-axle?variant=13658986053667

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
wow, thanks for that elgaucher...
things can ramp up quickly when you start to get good stuff on it.  damm...
makes me wonder if I should just get a INTENSE 951 from Costco and be done with it.  Lifetime warranty too. ugh.
If you're not the type to swap parts on your factory bike, you'd be much better off buying the Intense.
