Re: Protection film (PPF) from Carbonda FM1001
Yeah, I'm contemplating just buying some sheets and making it myself. It's just going to take some time. I'm trying to avoid that. There has to be a brand out there that some PFF company make a template for these bikes.

The frame I bought was a first release model, so no chance of a kit.  I could have maybe found a kit for a similar looking frame but opted to just buy 4 meters of 3M Rhinoskin.  It was a fussy task, as I doubled up in a few spots, but in the end it was 2 hours well spent.

Re: Budget aliexpress fork recommendations Seth from over on Seth's bike hacks and Berm Peak YT channels has done some use and destructive testing on Bolany's and such.  He'll put them on for sale bikes to juniors and other beginners, but that is about it.  From what reading I've done, you got to spend at least $275-300, that gets you into a 27.5/29er boost 34mm X-Fusion with decent reviews for a low cost fork, I've been running one of those for 2 years now with all AV tokens in...Spartan but effective.  About $80 more gets you into the same chassis with a HLR damper unit as found on their higher end forks.

Re: WINBO Pilot 29 alloy AM full suspension frame
That is interesting, can you post the listing you used?  I found one that is similar with a picture of the brand

When I stumbled upon the WINBO Pilot, I was searching for the latest version of the Himalo.  A search for aluminum full suspension frames on Ali does not pull up all the offerings as you likely already know, I think its a keyword problem.  There were a couple of design features I liked better than the Himalo and so went with the WINBO even though it is more of an unknown.  Anyway, here is one of the two links that I know of, it is also the store I bought from.  Edit, link is not working great so I will attach a screen shot of the listing too.

Link of listing with product ID:  https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005345574593.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.5.6c33rO4vrO4vlF&algo_pvid=86b35fce-e759-48df-84dc-1206b3bdf429&algo_exp_id=86b35fce-e759-48df-84dc-1206b3bdf429-2&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21USD%211323.48%21555.86%21%21%219604.35%21%21%402101c5ac16952009287283159ea2ff%2112000032696998866%21sea%21TH%212090364323%21S&curPageLogUid=EewdHEfjdPFw

Re: New Lexon spirit
How is the bike holding up?   Any updates after 3+ months of riding?...

I had been thinking that I need to post an update pretty soon on here as last week I began working through the local distributor about a newly discovered crack in the seat tube, about 5cm below where the top tube joins.  Two days ago I was informed the manufacturer would send me a new main triangle for shipping cost and peacock paint upgrade cost, around USD50 total.  Best I can figure it was caused by insufficient strength of the wall of the seat tube.  Dropper post was deeply inserted so not related to being near minimum.  Dropper post seemed to fit OK diameter wise too.  I took them up on their offer but I'll relegating the bike to my wife to use (after replacing main triangle) as she is much lighter and gentler on stuff than me, and she likes the bike as did I.  In summary, I rode the bike every morning, 32-36km, 50/50 trail and asphalt for over 9 months, so over 7,500km.  I had planned to convert it with the way lighter Photon drive but then got spooked off of that drive as longer term expert reviews began to appear.  I can tell you more about the experience after my new triangle arrives.  Ground clearance was right at 21.5cm unsagged, and clearance was never a problem for me but may be for others who ride more extreme.  A week or two before I noticed the frame crack, I had began a new build for my son, it is reviewed under metal frames on this forum.  I was hoping manufacturer would have offered the choice of a partial refund and I would have built another one of the alloy ones, it is less than half the price.

Re: New Lexon spirit
...So all manufacturers have their issues I suppose.  Regardless of big OEM or Chinese clone.

Ouch!  Yeah, hard to foresee the many potential issues with a radically new design.  As I was building the Spirit 9 months ago, I saw a potential disaster leading to a frame fracture caused by the dropper cable getting in a pinch point with the belcrank arm on top of the shock.  I epoxied in a 3cm piece of carbon fishing rod to route the cable through.  On the bright side I was able to check the torque of the shock eyebolt easily with air set to run pressure.

Re: ZTTO MTB M1 Boost hubs 28H 54T Ratchet
I've had my M1 hubs for 2 years, main bike during the wet winters we get in the UK.

I just cleaned and lubed my oldest M1 hub with 36t stars, probably the 4th time in a year, and  around 7K km on the hub.  No ridges on original splines/stars/springs, nor other visible serious wear, the inner ring splines have a chrome like gloss.  The inner and outer stars are quietest when matched to their respective spline ring.  Lubed only with a light blend of SuperLube/ TFE chain lube, see pic.  I ain't paying for that liquid gold stuff they're peddling.
