Title: shipping times from aliexpress
Post by: flyedf on June 12, 2023, 02:58:21 PM
the standard AliExpress Shipping is currently showing 1 month.  anyone buy a frame recently?  worth it to pay extra for ups/fedex?

I find that most of the items I purchase from Aliexpress state one month deliveries.  Unless the store states they have a guaranteed delivery time, I believe that the stores use a standard 1 month delivery that Aliexpress posts.

This being stated:  The best approach from my perspective is to message/write the store selling the frame you want and ask specifically if they have it in stock, then how long of a processing time it takes them to drop it off or have the shipping company pick up your order.

Then it usually takes 10 to 15 days for it to make it to my local USPS office.  I don't know how much faster deliveries are or can be in larger cities.

I recently bought a TFSA frame and I am not exactly happy with the time everything takes... At first there was a problem with the frame so they had to make another one. It took almost 1 month before they shipped. After that it sat in Hong Kong for 2 weeks waiting for a flight... Last Sunday it finally got on a flight and went to I don't know where. I am in the EU and paid extra for DPD shipping. I ordered the frame on 03/05 so that will be almost 2 months between order and receiving the frame (hoping all goes well from now on).

So yes, check if the frame is in stock and check reviews from other people about the shipping.

I ordered from SPCycle awhile back. It took 10 days to prep and paint the frame. I did standard AliEx shipping and they used FedEx Global. It took about 5 days to get to my front door. They're not very chatty when it comes to messaging, but they ship fast. I've also ordered from TFSA, it took about a whole month for the frame to arrived via USPS.

It's a good idea to ask what's in stock first which will speed up the process. I believe most frames are raw carbon and then painted/clear-coated depending on customer.

I'm doing frame/fork with btx and they are saying about a week to put color on.  it has free shipping = aliexpress standard, which they are saying 1-2months to USA.  Or else I pay for upgrade shipping.  I've noticed other seller's charge ($80) for shipping, so I'm assuming they are using expedited shipping.

I've ordered various small parts and I've been getting things in just 2-3weeks (non expedited, economy ship), which is fastest ever.

Allot at least 1-2 months for a frame to ship to the US. I think if a frame seller does business via EBay, there's a good chance they will use similar shipping speeds for AliEx orders since Ebay is a bit more stringent on sellers.

And delivered today. Once it landed in the EU it went surprisingly fast.

So ordered on 03/05 , lost about 1,5 weeks with a production error, than took a long time to just get on a plane and arrived at my door on 15/06.

Just when I though shipping times were becoming faster....
The majority of my orders in the past month have added another stop in the USA as the package more slowly makes it to my house.

Just a month ago, tracking used to indicate that it has made it through customs and was in Los Angeles, followed by a stop in West Valley City Utah. Then the package would show up in my local town and out for delivery.

Now...

Goes through customs in Los Angeles,
followed by a stop in GreenWood IN, where it is takes 3 more days for the package to show up in;
West Valley City Utah.
Then the package shows up in my local town.

Why the extra stop these days?
Any one else seeing this new stop in their tracking of packages?

I got it in 12 days.  but seller had a $80 charge for shipping.  it stated standard aliexpress, but seems more like an upgraded ship method

I just bought a single pair of aero socks on Ali for like $3 and it arrived to my door in a week. Lol.
On the other hand, I bought a $300 power meter spider on the same day and it hasn't even shipped yet .  ;D AliX is a strange place.

AliEx has been holding my packages together for combined delivery. Honestly I think it takes even longer doing it this way. It's best to time your big purchases further apart.

13 of my orders were combined into one - all small bits and pieces for color coding (screws, cables, caps etc). This was ordered on 16th June and after consolidation the package left China on 26th. Usually this would happen in 2-3 days. Some of those items are 15 day guarantee items too. I wonder how it would work now. May be slower shipping items will benefit too?
In general though, when orders are combined they take longer than individually shipped items. For example the handlebar ordered on same day was delivered yesterday.

I've read combined shipping works faster for certain countries, but I think for the US it's quite a bit slower. I've received all of my items from the summer sale, so I'll probably hold off order for awhile. The weather is good right now, so I'll spend more time riding instead of online shopping!  ;D

Shipping times likely to improve tremendously in the near future as Cainiao is launching 5 day global delivery -

https://postandparcel.info/153377/news/e-commerce/cainiao-to-launch-5-day-global-delivery-service/

Could be rising pressure from Temu but a great news regardless.

With that said, in the past 2 months most of my orders have arrived in less than 15 days, some in a week so things are definitely on the way up compared to last year where almost every order took a month or more.

Temu seems to be making pretty good strides. At my daughter's HS, they all know and order stuff from there. Also I notice more bike parts are showing up.

My run of luck with fast shipping has come to an end.
6 out of 9 orders from August were lost somewhere between ACI logistics and USPS handover. ACI folks say they handed over the packages to USPS and USPS folks claim they never received them. For 6 lost packages once I raised refund request, 4 were refunded immediately. The other 2 hesitated and kept me waiting. Finally just earlier this month after almost 1.5 month from order date remaining were refunded too. Fortunately, out of 3 that did get delivered one was EE brakes - something that I was eagerly waiting for!

Had something get lost for the first time back in late August. Had to wait about the same amount of time for a refund.

I too got something lost from August, for the first time. What a mess. I finally got today the refund, but as usual the seller and AE hesitated a lot and insisted me on keeping calling and sending mails to the delivery company...

Question on Carbon MTB handlebars.   I have a total of 4 carbon MTB handlebars, two , that I ordered on 11-11 and two a couple days later.   It appears that not a single set has been shipped yet.
Does anyone else have bars on order that haven't shipped yet?

Everything I've ordered during the 11.11 arrived already. How is the seller rating? I had to cancel something I ordered recently after a few days passed without shipping. Looked at seller feedback and lots of super late or never delivered reviews.

I just checked.  All 4 stores have ratings at 96% and above.  Reviews in general are good that these stores.   It appear that 1 of the 4 handlebars passed through customs over a week ago, but no updates since.   I wrote the other 3 stores asking for a shipping update.

Presently, I have over 30 items on order.   It is taking too much time trying to keep track of all the items.   Many have been delivered in less than 10 days, others, I am not sure that they have even shipped the item/s even though they have assigned a tracking number.   A couple of my "choice" multi-item orders have been split up.  Half the order arrived within 12 days, the other package/s are over a month now, but making very slow progress in the US. (For some reason, these packages have traveled all the way from California via the 2 regular stops, but for these they continued on to Illinois with several stops along the way, and are slowly heading back west towards me.   Talk about how many mile a package travels to get delivered...

It seems AliEx is now using a private courier at least here in Southern California. All my 11.11 sale items have mysteriously appeared on my front doorstep and usually in the morning. Usually no status updates (besides processed through US customs) until delivered. I'm receiving fewer packages via USPS and more through private courier.

I think they have a warehouse somewhere in the Inland Empire (near Los Angeles) and many small sellers are using that as a base for their US distribution for things like wheels and frame sets. It's probably just cheaper for them to send a driver out in LA as opposed to processing things through the postal service.

That's been my experience here in San Diego as well. I usually get an email after it's been left at my doorstep but not always. The labels appeared to have return addresses in China though. I suspect the sellers are packaging them and sending them to an AliExpress warehouse in China, and then they bundle them and ship them over before disrtibuting.

Everything I ordered on 11/11 has arrived except for my frame. The tracking has shown it as in the US for a while now, so I'm hoping it will be here any day.

Hey there,  I a can relate to this. I placed an Aliexperess order in January 3rd 2024 which claim 14 day delivery.  The package arrived in the US around Jan 16th and since then it has been on a tour of the Eastern US. Started in NJ, then PA, then VA, now is in NC where it has stayed for the last 48hrs.  AliExpress shows the package as “unsuccessful delivery”.  I have opened a dispute since my feeling is that this package will never make it to Washington DC like it is supposed to. Will report back on what happens next.
BTW, I opened a dispute with AliExpress and their first response is to block it.  Rather than at lest hearing me out they simply block it first.  I am on round two with them asking for a refund.

Shipping has gotten weird. Last item I ordered tracking still said it was somewhere in Utah but had just been delivered. Then when I hit the “delivery confirmed” button it updated, but said delivered to an address in a town 1 hour away.

Reporting here that my combined package finally arrived after having done an extended tour of the Eastern Seaboard.  all in good order, no damages nor scratches, which i find extraordinary.  i do note that the combined order was shipped from a US address, the Cainiao (Sp?) service.  i wonder if they ship some items to the address (New Jersey for those in the US) and combine and then ship from there.  normally i think this would hav arrived very quickly, less than 14 days, but i suspect the mix up was with USPS. I have read elsewhere that the shipping bags sellers use these days sometimes confuse the sorting machines that USPS uses. taking that with a grain of salt, as it is totally just a guess.

All of my 11-11 through the end of the year arrived except for 2 packages that eventually passed the 60 day delivery deadline and I received refunds.

This is my delivery pattern for most of the items I order.    Order declared shipped in 1 to 3 days.   Order tracking from China to USA Customs, usually 3-4 days.

After release from Customs in Los Angeles, (usually 1 day) 12 to 16 days delivery time by USPS.  My packages usually have 4-5 intermediate stops that each take 2-3 days to get to the next stop.    That's USPS!

OTOH.  Letters that get sent to us are taking 8 to 12 days to be delivered these days.   (What ever happened to 3-5 days for regular postage letters to be delivered.)  No wonder no one wants to send mail or bills through USPS.

So far my Pick 3 & Save and Choice deliveries have been arriving the fastest with private courier straight from the AliEx warehouse with 4-7 day deliveries. In fact it's the same guy dropping my stuff off! My last non-Choice purchase took 15 days to arrive and that went through USPS. For non-critical components, the price savings and speed of shipping have definitely been worth it.

I ordered a front end cap for my Ryet wheelset, shipped 2/22 and delivered to California at like 8am on 2/25. Crazy fast, even with free shipping. Bad news is they sent me the wrong part.  ;D

Here are some stats I have been tracking.

1. USPS publishes that regular mail should take 5 business days to be delivered.  -  In my neck of the woods in Montana, domestic mail is delivered in 8 to 11 business days.
2.  Tracking my packages:  Shipments from China to US Customs almost always takes 3-4 days.   Customs 1 to 2 days.  Once they are state-side, Individual orders are taking another 8 to 14 business days.
3. Pick3 and Choice packages are taking 7 to 10 business days.
4. Electronic items and items that are not cycling related are being delivered 2-3 days faster than bike part orders.

As I see it.  China kicks butt on their end, and USPS is the bottleneck.  USPS sends all my packages through at least 3 sorting centers. This adds 2 to 5 days to the total delivery time.

My daughter ordered a few AliEx items from no-name sellers, which then triggered combine shipping for something I ordered. Now the combined package is sitting in USPS limbo. I already had four other Choice and Pick 3 orders delivered through AliEx's private courier which seems (for now) exclusive to the SoCal area. Yet for some reason USPS can deliver tons of junk mail shipped on-time that goes straight into my recycle bin!

Venting again.   It appears that Aliexpress has changed their shipping details.  I used to see my order's shipping progress all the way to when the item was delivered. Now I see Aliexpress tracking my items until they they depart customs, then they list a shipping number.  I plug these numbers into USPS tracking, and 1/2 the time USPS says the number is not valid, the other half it says the number is registered in the system, but no information is available.  For the past month, all my orders shipping progress is no longer visible or available.

Today,  my wife received 4 notifications from USPS that items are out for delivery.  I input these numbers into USPS tracking and there is no shipping details available. then I was able to match up these numbers with Aliexpress shipping numbers, and it appears that these are 4 of my ordered items.

On top of this, I ordered a Flyweight carbon rim, on March 18th, that had guaranteed 12 day delivery.  A month+ has passed. I asked the seller if they could tell me where the rim is.  Their answer was: "It has been shipped.  Be patient".   The only tracking information I have is that it shipped April 1st. No tracking number listed.  I filed for a refund and the seller has rejected the claim stating the item has been shipped.   Now I have to wait the complete period of time before Aliexpress will approve the refund and admit that the item is lost.

To add insult, In the past 6 weeks, I had 5 orders that went past the guaranteed delivery, and I was supposedly given the "One Dollar off" coupons.  Aliexpress lists me as receiving the coupons, but when I've tried to use them, nothing happens and my app locks up.  After about 2 weeks, I can no longer find them.   Something is messed up with their software, or they have figured out a way to not let me use the one dollar off coupons.

EDIT:  May 1st - Aliexpress closed my order for the Fiberin Flyweight and started the refund process.  I have one of these rims and like it. I wanted another but  no longer trust the Fiberlin store because of their lack of communication and that they never provided me with a good tracking number.  Makes me wonder if they ever actually shipped the order.
