Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Looks super nice. Cycling has become a dentist sport, the margins on many of the components are insane. The pictures on your link look like very well machined aluminium. Most likely, the real ones are made in china. You take a block of metal, launch a well calibrated CNC machine with the right drill bit and voila. It's not rocket science. The question is more whether what you receive looks like the pictures, i'd say. If i were in the market for such a crank, i'd get it, looks awesome.

I concur on most parts probably being made in china anyways.  Take this interview with one of the guys at Ritchey (minute 7ish) 20-30 people in the company are located in china for manufacturing and there are less than a dozen people in north america and europe.   The trick (at least as I found to be the case working in several businesses that dealt with creating chinese components and end products for sale) to getting quality out of China is being there and being strict with QA.   Its a whole truck load of worms to unwrap in overseas manufacturing and this isn't really the place for that discussion.

edit,  link doesn't show up for me, go here; Youtube Channel "The Bike Sauce", Video title; Why Ritchey Steel Frames Ride So SMOOTH!

Re: L-TWOO RX 2x12 road groupset
More interested in whether their electronic stuff will play nice with Magura FM calipers :D  Or failing that Shimano.

Though I spoke to two SRAM dealers recently who are convinced that the new Red / Force AXS will move to mineral oil.  I'm not sure it'll happen personally, as I think SRAM want as much compatibility as possible, and there will be a lot of Rival AXS (DOT) and Red / Force XPLR (DOT) still on the market.  Standard Red and Force AXS are getting big clearance reductions atm ... Red particularly.  You can get the 2x gruppo without chainset for ~€1300 including VAT atm.

I'm not sure I trust anything from anyone with fingernails like that...  :o

Re: Suggestions on a; 165mm, 30-46t Cranksets with BSA Bracket Ordered the Senicx PR2 today along with an Oinirii saddle from the Onirii AliExpress shop plus another few things I wanted.   Fingers crossed that they all show up quickly and are good quality.

Re: Suggestions on a; 165mm, 30-46t Cranksets with BSA Bracket Got my AliExpress order last week.

Very fast shipping from China!

The SENICX PR2 crank seems really nice and light.  Installed zero hassle and spins nice and true.

Other items I ordered are nice as well.

Have put a few hours in on the trainer stand so far,  will get out for 70-80 mile ride this weekend.  I’m expecting that all is well with the Senicx crank though.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I love riding at night but I dislike spending money.  So what to do?   Been seeing a handful of internal battery light bars pop up on AliEx and Amazon (they come and go real quick from there)  over the past few months so...

Ordered this light today from the S-Wing Biking Store on AliExpress;  5200 Lumen, 8000mah internal battery w/ USB charging port.

Will report back when I receive it and get a chance to use it.

I've got a cheap $15 USB powered light from amazon for the bars and a small helmet light that are adequate for most MTB speeds, but dealing with the wires on an external battery for the bike was annoying and I wanted a little more light.  I wasn't interested in spending $200-$500 on a light set up for my MTB so figured I'd try this out.

I'm curious to see it fired up next to my high end/expensive 6200Lumen 12 LED, 12" wide, 2 row light bar that I use for night time desert racing on my dirtbike.

27.5, full suspension XC "race" geometry options? Has anyone seen any good options for a carbon or aluminum XC race frame that supports 27.5 wheels, 100-ishmm suspension travel front and rear?

Had the opportunity to ride a short track event this past weekend in back to back events on my 2014 Stumpjumper 27.5 w/ 150mm travel and my Kona Rove gravel bike and even with the handful of technical uphills and downhills I was quicker on the Kona although not as comfortable.   Confirmed my suspicions that the Stumpy (which was built for enduro racing by the original owner) is complete overkill for the majority of riding I do.   I'm not hucking any big jumps or barreling down long rocky hills.  Most of the trails around here are pretty smooth or so slow/techy that I don't use that much suspension.

Hoping to find something I can mount most of the existing bits onto.  The fork can be shortened,  I don't think the shocks yoke and length can be changed though.

I rode a more modern slack designed full suspension trail bike and really didn't like how it handled.  Super biased for descents and didn't give much confidence in the turns.  I think something sharper handling with less travel is the ticket for me.

I got the light in the mail yesterday.  11 days!

Seems pretty nice for $35!  It is obnoxiously bright.  Definitely isn't 5200Lumens, but its way brighter than the pair of 1000s  (labeled) i've been using for MTB night riding.   The LED reflectors focus the beam nicely. There is a center spot focus reflector/LED and 2 reflectors/LEDs on either side that seem more flood oriented.    You can run it with just the center LED, only the outer 4 LEDs or all of them on.  There is also a flashing mode that uses all the LEDs, which is probably so intense that it could cause an epileptic seizure.

The mounts seem pretty sturdy and I like that they are fold away clamps so mounting the light is a 2 minute job.  You can slide them across so they'll work with tons of options.

I haven't had a chance to do an extended ride with it to test battery life.  It supposedly will run 2.5 hours on the highest setting and 10hours on the lowest.    If it poops out mid ride, an hour in, I will update on that.

Here's a photo of the light mounted.

Re: Are AliEx/open mold carbon bikes common in your area? I hardly ever see open mold or AliEx stuff around NE oklahoma.    I know one person with an older chinarello and that's it.   I'm the only I know who is tossing AliExpress parts on their bikes.  But, I don't go group rides and keep mostly to myself or one or two riding friends.

I went and raced the MidSouth100 over this past weekend.  Saw a few open mold bikes and a couple things with Sensah groupsets.  Not sure if the people realized their BoltCutter and Bombtrack were open molds though.   Anything and everything was in the crowd, it was a pretty wild experience passing someone riding a 3d printed Titanium bike then 2 minutes later someone comes by on a vintage steel, single speed.
