Any Swiss members on here? I'll be in the Lauterbrunnen Valley next week with the family. Just checking to see if there is anyone on here that may want to play tour guide for a couple of hours if I can sneak away from the wife and kids. Or anyone that may have some suggestions on what to ride. I do have one ride planned already, I just hope it works out. Once I'm in town, I will be checking in with Imboden bike to see what they recommend. I'll post some pictures either way once we are home.

XMCarbonSpeed CS-GR029 as a commuter? I'm back again, this time with a possible 3rd build.  First was an XMIPlay 29er, second was an eBay 14" 26er for my son (who has now outgrown - that'll be #4 probably in a few months), but now with a commuter build.

Right before the end of the year, I applied & got accepted for what would best be described as my DREAM JOB - doing exactly what I love, and the best part is it's a 6-mile commute from my home.  The build bug started to rear it's head as soon as I hit the "APPLY FOR THIS JOB" button  ;)

I live in Southeast Michigan, and as such, can only commute by bike about 6 months in the year.  Additionally, I'll probably only be able to ride one or two days a week due to personal obligations.  That said, I enjoy the building process and this will be my one-and-only "Non-Trail" bike.

I'm currently evaluating the following components, and would appreciate another set or two of eyes to ensure I'm not getting into problems:

  • XMCarbonSpeed CS-GR029 frame, UD Matte, 54cm
  • XMCarbonSpeed NSS-GCX28 rims w/ Novatec Hubs & Sapim CX-Ray spokes
  • SRAM Rival 1 42T Crankset
  • SRAM Rival 22 Brifters
  • SRAM PG-1130 11-36T 11-speed cassette
  • Avid BB7 Road mechanical disc brakes
  • SRAM Rival 1 Type 2.1 medium-cage rear derailleur
  • FSA Cockpit
  • Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires (had good success with them before)

I have never worked with SRAM components, so this will be new to me.  Also, this will be my first non-MTB build.

Re: Carbonda Gravel CFR505 build After using my gravel frame as a road bike for a year, I gave it a proper upgrade few weeks ago ;D

The transmission is the SRAM AXS Mullet: Eagle derailleur, cassette and chain. Force shifters.
It is a Garbaruk 46T chainring.
And Deckas discs.

The wheels based on Novatec 411/412 hubs, and ultralight 29er XC rims, CR-ray spokes are still fine.
And I got as well a new fork, for 12mm axles( I initially took a 15mm one, but it was making swapping wheels harder )

Carbonda Cfr 1056 I've been looking into Carbonda due to the popularity of the 505 and 696 frames. So far, the 696 appears to be the leading contender for my next bike, however the 1056 looks very interesting. Has anyone in the community here got experience with the 1056?

It appears to be a road frame with just a bit more relaxed geometry than the 696. If it's a solid frame, that could suit me perfectly as I would be using it as an endurance frame and I don't have any plans to load up racks and fenders which the 696 accommodates. .

Re: Tan Tan GR040 Build
...Sensah shifters are crap from what I've seen...

I didn't rewatch the video, the guy like to talk more than inform  ::)
If I remember well it was an issue on the left lever.
There was a plastic part in the shifter, that would break when cable tension was too high on the front derailleur.

Not only they replaced that piece by a metal one on the new units.
But they sent this part to their existing clients for free.
Someone asked me a build with them, so I'll test them the coming weeks but for me Sensah look to care.

Re: XCADEY XPower-S Power Meter €219

Maiden voyage today for the Sigeyi, about 60km in mudland !

It paired instantly with my Wahoo Bolt.
Gave power, cadence and even an estimate of L/R balance data. All this, during the whole ride.
Just maybe a bit generous on my max power today  8)
The magnetic charging port is very smart compared to my other PMs.

Pardon me the inelegant blue/gold match, the chainring was planned for my next blue bike  ;)
It is my first Deckas chainring, and it looks great, at a great price.
No noise at all with the chain today.
Hopefully they made it from a good alloy and it will last long.

Yishun R014/ Light Carbon LCR015 Vs. Velobuild VB-R-079 Hello All,

I am planning to build my first bike and as i have very limited experience with these chinese carbon frames and manufacturers would like to ask your advice /opinion.
Generally, i was falling in love with Canyon Aeroad, but dont want to spend that much on a bike as i am not a racing pro or super rich person. Therefore i tried to find some similar frame or some nice looking aero road frame.
<bike will be used for medium long normal rides 60~120km and also to race in local triathlon/duathlon races>

I have found mainly these frames as best to choose :

1. Yishun R014/ Light Carbon LCR015

https://www.yishunbike.com/new-road-frame-with-direct-mount-brakes-r014-v_p67.html
https://www.lightcarbon.com/lightcarbon-full-internal-cable-routing-rim-brake-road-frame_p164.html

Unfortunately, i didnt get any quotation from both company, probably they are just coming back from holiday season. Hopefully they could provide soon.
Frames looks same for me....so if the price not much different which one will you recommend to go with ?

2. Velobuild VB-R-079

http://www.velobuildmall.com/products/velobuild-2018-one-piece-mould-carbon-fiber-aero-road-frame

This frame even looking more aero than Yishun R014, but just worried that handlebar will be may too low in standard condition and if you put spacer it may wont look really nice. Anyone purchased this frame and could give some feedback about it ?

Any other aero road frame you would suggest to buy instead of the aboves ?
(I had tantan also in my mind, but just read too many bad reviews about frames and how they handled it. so removed them from my list atm)

Re: ICAN triaero A9 Had a very bad experience with ICAN Bikes.
The picture of the whole frameset and accessories was taken before they shipped to me. I was super excited until I received the frameset.
On receiving the frame I notice there was a patch inside the headtube that creates a bump on the outside of the headtube.
They said the patch and bump will not affect the quality of the bike or reliability of the bike structure. WHAT???? (How about 5 years down the line or resale value as new or used frameset?)

They said they will replace the frameset if I send it back to them. Why send such bad quality frameset to me in the first place???????????????
They made it sound like they had a replacement frame waiting for me. But once I successfully sent the frameset back to them they told me it will take another 30 to 40 days to make/paint my cream colour frame choice.
They claim they had an option of a sample frame with already cut fork but I refused that because there is no way to predict or control the stack height.
They also claim they had the UD matte black ready to ship which I wanted to consider but the communication was too slow and I had already lost the trust, so I decided to get a refund instead.

Who know what other area of their frames they have patched and spray paint over. OMG!

I finally got my refunds approved by Alibaba after sending back the frameset to a local address because they only wanted the lowest shipping cost of return to them.
I lost 211 USD in the transaction due to customs duty and sending the frameset to the local address they gave me.

The order was made on 5th Nov. 2020 got my money refunds approval Jan 4th 2021 by Alibaba.

I am really disappointed, sad and super pissed. A lot of money, time, effort wasted in research and preparing for this project.
All the parts for building the frame arrived and now need to start all over researching what frameset to get. (Any suggestions?)

Make sure your quality expectations aligns 100% with ICAN bikes or any other Chinese frame maker before they ship to you.
Ask for pictures of inside the headtube and bottom bracket at least.

I do not wish this for anyone. It is very painful and time wasting.

-----Update 3rd Feb 2021 ---

ICAN reached out and apologized for the situation from my last post. They have refunded me the money I loss due to customs duty and frameset return shipping.
Maybe in the future I will deal again but I have already ordered the TT-X21 from TanTan.
