Re: FM1002 / FM1166 - 150mm frame It was love at first ride.

This is my first enduro frame, all my other bikes have been XC frames spec'd for trial.

I took the newly finished FM1002 on a technical trail with jagged exposed rock gardens, sizeable rock features and lots of ups and downs. This frame is incredibly capable on the down hills. The 170mm lyrik feels supple over rough terrain. The 150mm travel in the back cushions large drops enough to make them feel comfortable. It's only my first ride and already my confidence is growing too much. It climbs like a goat too.  My Assegai/Dissector wheel combo has more rolling resistance than the XC race tires on my FM936 and the bike is about 5 lb heavier, but the higher bottom bracket, large travel, and crazy grip make it a more capable climber than my FM936. I climbed features on my first try that I've never been able to climb on my FM936.  The pedal bob is minimal in the rear and non-existent in the front.

One potential downside is that the increased weight and soft slack fork makes it easier to get stopped by rocks when you don't have momentum, so it can be difficult to continue a climb when starting up in a rock garden.

Bike is about 31.5 lbs (14.3 kg) as shown.

Any chance you noted what bearings are being used?

Sorry, I did not. How would you identify them? Calipers?

Re: Carbonda FM 1003 / Flybike FM 1266 180mm "Super Enduro"
Is this even available anymore? It is not on carbonda or flybike site anymore..

This design wasn't scrapped, Carbonda claims a lot of R&D went into making the frame. If it doesn't become publicly available it would be because another company bought exclusive rights to the frame.

I bet they are just working out the layup for XL sizes and it will be on the website soon.

This is the frame I wanted before I reluctantly went for a FM1002 instead. Frankly, I couldn't justify getting a bike that goes this hard. I'm sure it climbs well and destroys technical downhill, but it's absolutely overkill for almost everything I ride.

I would love to see more builds/reviews of this frame.

Re: Carbonda FM1002 or LightCarbon LCFS947
Just ordered a superdeluxe ultimate rct from, the in europe famous, RCZ. Very cheap, but you can only tell what you've got if it's in front of you. So hopefully it's a low or medium tune. But for 200euro's it's worth the gamble... And I'll return it.

Also found the magura's mt5 HC for 110euro's a pair... We'll see.

Keep you guys posted in the right topic btw

200 for the shock is great! I bet those MT5's are legit. Mine cost a similar amount before shipping, rotors and adapters.

Here is what I bought for mine if you havent seen it. Also picked up an Ergon saddle which I love

Re: FM1002 / FM1166 - 150mm frame I took my FM1002 out to a large lift service bike park for 6 hours of solid riding. Did a little less than 15000ft (~4.5 km) of vertical/elevation. It was my first time at a life service bike park and it was absolutely amazing.

The frame felt perfectly at home on both the flowy and technical downhill trails. I did end up making quite a few adjustments over the day and I got a really good feel for the bike. Halfway through the day, all the adjustments left me with a completely dialed bike. My own skill was the only limiting factor.

Got lots of compliments on the frame as well, which is always nice.

If I could build it again:
- I wish I had 35mm carbon bars instead of 31.8mm bars. My bars would flex a lot, way before my fork would flex. Glad I didn't get alloy bars. I keep hearing good things about OneUp bars.
- I do see how a 38mm stanchion fork would feel stiffer and more planted on the downhill but, the 170mm Lyrik Ultimate still plows over anything and performs extremely well. People with the 38 forks seems to have a more plush experience
- I also need bigger grips, the PNW grips are too skimpy.
- I wish I had clipless platform pedals, like the Crankbrothers Mallet E
- The DPX2 Rear shock is great, but I am curious if a Cane Creek DBAir CS would have better small bump compliance

On the negative side,
- The paint isn't holding up nearly as wells as my FM936's paint. It looks like the grey primer and orange color paint didn't fuse very well. Some spots are better than others. In the end, painting is highly skill dependent and I shouldn't expect more the for the price.

Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame
It makes sense, but maybe FullCarbonAlchemist can also publish the link for a right headset that he used? I found this one, but I don't know if it works: https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/fsa-orbit-1-5-zs-headset-no-57e-/rp-prod80065

Someone else recommended this one.

I am using that top with carbonda stock bearings on the bottom.

This also works https://www.fsaproshop.com/products/no-55r-1-5-558

Re: FM1002 - 160 or 170mm fork? Check out what this guy thinks about taking a 160mm frame and putting a 170mm fork on it.

Re: FM1002 / FM1166 - 150mm frame I crashed my FM1002 on Rainmaker at Trestle Bike park. My fault, not the bikes. The bike is okay, just more lost paint (its crazy flakey), but my pinky is broken and needs surgery  :'(

Re: Carbonda Fm-1002 vs lightcarbon lcfs947
So after thinking about it seat post insertion is something that would be important to me.  I ended up going with the carbonda fm1002.   Now I'm curious has anyone ran a 170mm fork on the fm1002?

Yeah, The bike is actually spec'd for 160mm fork so 10mm more of travel is not a serious overfork. My FM1002 with a 170mm Lyrik has a head angle of ~64.1°. So its about half a degree slacker.

You could seriously overfork it running a 180mm and still have a 63.5° head angle, but frame might end up feeling too small. Reach is decreased when overforking.

Rides great with a 170mm fork. Also I recommend reading through the FM1002 thread, before building/buying components.

Re: Carbonda FM909
Received the frame.  Quality seems excellent except for:

They painted it with the bearings in the linkages.  My mechanic recommended not to remove them to grease, since he's sure it will badly damage and crack off chunks of clear.  I'm inclined to agree.  I might expect this of one of the super cheap finishes from from one of the 'cowboy' outfits.  But this finish cost me $250.   It means I can't grease them - and they didn't.  And when they need to be replaced I need to wreck the finish.   Not happy.  They also could have done a much better job with the splatter and appear to have ignored my instructions re: doing the splatter over the green clear and then doing colorless clear over the splatter - but I'm not as bothered about that as the more obvious problem.

Derailleur hanger is a bit odd, but seems to work.

Carbonda definitely has at a least one bad painter. My 2+ year old FM936 has far better paint than my 2 month old FM1002. I got a 40$ refund on my 70$ paint. Bring it up to them.

I would recommend using a dremel to sand it off cleanly and carefully.

I super recommend, greasing the bearings.

Re: Carbonda FM 1003 / Flybike FM 1266 180mm "Super Enduro"
Just barely had light enough at the end of the day to get it out and try our local trails last night. I can only compare it with my 2017 Diamondback Release aluminum framed bike (similar to a Santa Cruz 5010 in geometry). The FM 1003 definitely did what I needed it to. It climbs at least as well as my diamondback and just smashes through EVERYTHING on the descent. I took a couple of bad lines that put me into rocks that I normally try to avoid and found that I could just ride over them with impunity. I've had more pedal strikes on this bike than with my Diamondback, but I think it's mostly been my line choices. If I can get out of work early enough this afternoon, I'll give it some more seat time. I'm pretty pleased with it and the paint looks great so far.

I'm jealous that your paint turned out well, I have the exact same color on my FM1002 and let me tell you, paint from Carbonda is a roll of the dice.

If pedal strikes are an issue, I would consider putting a 29 wheel on the front. Your BB is 19.05mm (0.75in) lower on 27.5s than 29s and that makes a noticeable difference.
You can swap your Zeb lowers to accommodate a bigger front wheel and start riding a mullet. That'll raise the BB 10mm or so.
